Natchez 10-year-olds advance to district title game

Published Wednesday, July 2, 2008

HAZLEHURST — The Natchez 10-year-old All-Stars got off to a fast start and went on to a 9-5 victory over the Lincoln County Americans Tuesday night, advancing to the sub-district tournament championship game.

Natchez scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed in the contest as pitcher Christopher White pitched a complete game two-hitter.

“We came out of the gate hitting the ball, and were able to jump out on them,” Natchez coach Jeff Webb said. “They got a couple runs back in the bottom of the first but Christopher White settled in and threw a good ballgame.”

White also had two hits in the game, including a double. Will Moffett, Landon Seyfarth and Tyler Wilson also had multiple hits, with Moffett and Seyfarth hitting doubles.

With the win, the 10-year-olds advance to the sub-district championship game tonight at 6 p.m. in Hazlehurst.

They will play Wesson and must be beaten twice to not win the championship.

Tyler Wilson will pitch for Natchez in the game.
