Former police officer arrested
Published Thursday, July 10, 2008
NATCHEZ — Former Natchez Police officer Eric Kaho has been charged with embezzlement.
Kaho, 30, turned himself in just after 3:30 p.m. today. He was indicted by an Adams County grand jury in connection with funds found missing from the Metro Narcotics unit.
Kaho resigned from his NPD job in January.
He made headlines in the fall when he was hospitalized for more than a month following an October incident in which he reportedly shot himself at his apartment. He had been on leave from the police department for several months prior to that incident.
He was released shortly after his arrest today on promise to appear.

I think restitution and community service for about 20 years should make us taxpayers almost break even.

And remember how badly we all felt for him after his accident. Well, my prayers are still with him.

It seems that this person is in need of much psycological help and support. Allegedly shooting himself while being on leave from his job should have suggested his need for counselling.

its kinda funny to me that the usual person who gets arrested gets either bond or no bond. oh no not him he is released on a "promise to appear". thats not right. he did wrong and he should have to pay just like everyone else!!!

Totally agree, porkchop. He should have to pay like everyone else.
freedom...I did feel bad for the guy when he shot himself. Looks like he was feeling bad about what he was doing. Guilt can make us do strange things.

Do unto others as you would have them to do unto you. You have to be more careful how you treat people. It don't take long for My Father IN HEAVEN to WORK. Wonder what his father saying?

So sad, a young guy that has ruined this life by stealing dirty money! Sure wish he could have profited more in his pay check and maybe stealing would not have been an option. Gosh, he was probably so poor already he could hardly do an honest days work. I guess all that money the drug dealers had really looked tempting.

I swear I was thinking the SAME THING shewoman!!! I'll bet he lives from paycheck to paycheck on that scroungy NPD salary. I wonder how they figured out it was him pilfering through the pot? Cameras? Caught red-handed?

Well "Shewoman", poor or not, Officer Kaho took an oath to uphold the law, to serve and to protect. He knew what the job was paying when he took it. It still does not give him the right to "Steal", when the bills pile up and he can't pay them. I am very certain that you are not upholding his actions as well. There is no excuse for stealing. Yes I will agree with you and go further by saying that desperate people will do desperate things. One can only imagine what this officer was facing financially, if that is the case. But the fact remains that a law has been broken and it was a "Law-man", who broke it. Now for the NPD and the D.A., once this crime has been committed, he should have been treated like every other criminal and kept in jail until he posted bail. I laugh at this "Promise to Appear" bond because I believe Mr. Kaho is a "Flight Risk". All that being said, I pray for Mr. Kaho, that he is able to forgive himself and not attempt suicide again.

Take that "dirty money" and quit sitting on it. Document it and pay it out to the officers, fire department personnel, EMT personnel, all those that give to the community, but get squat for giving it.

Well Tell me if im wrong. The cops in Natchez Get someware around 32 thousand dollars a year. Give or take. Get half price or free lunches at most places some get to take cars home. on the other hand a Store clerk at a gas station gets maybe a dime above min. wage. No company car to drive home in no free lunches. Also usualy the clerk is a single mom barely makeing it. How come i hear more about dirty cops than store clerks stealing. Now if the clerk was caoght they would have to post bail. Justttttttttttttttttttttttttt food for thought.
