Monmouth ducklings stolen

Published Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Monmouth Plantation is known and loved by Natchez residents and employees alike.

Our creatures who live here on the 26 acres are enjoyed by guests and loved by employees.

Recently, Mrs. Duck gave birth to baby ducks and they were quickly put in cages to protect and nourish them until they were ready to live in our ponds.

Within 24 hours of their birth, the ducks were stolen. It’s a sad story that our ducks will not have Monmouth Plantation as their home.

It is even sadder to think that someone would take them.

Once upon a time my father in law had some baby ducks he had imprisoned in the interest of their safety but the cages turned up empty almost the first night they were so imprisoned.

Turns out Brer' Coon was coming and putting his wittle arm through the cage and removing them the hard way.

So my question is, did the thieves leave the cages?

Dang, is there NOTHING that won't be stolen now-a-days??!!! It's so sad everywhere.

It may have been Brer' Possum, or Brer' Snake. They do love some tasty baby birds.

Next time let nature take it's course and leave the ducklings free with their mom and they might just make it.

Unbelievable.
