Local sex offender arrested for peeping

Published Tuesday, July 29, 2008

NATCHEZ — A registered sex offender was caught looking through a window from the outside in on LaSalle Street early Monday morning.

Horace Bolden, 55, 7 Quitman St., Natchez, was arrested by the Natchez Police Department and charged as a peeping Tom.

At 1:18 a.m. Monday, the complainant called the police, stating that a man was knocking on her window, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.

“Officers arrived and found the suspect and his bicycle,” Mullins said.

He said there was enough evidence to substantiate the peeping Tom charge.

“He was looking and knocking on a window, he has no business on the property, and he’s a registered sex offender,” Mullins said. “That was enough probable cause to charge him as a peeping Tom.”

Bolden was convicted Feb. 2, 1991, for attempted sexual battery in Adams County.

Bolden, as of Monday afternoon, was being kept at the police department with no bond until arraignment.

I don't think you're allowed to shoot peeping toms.

And some folks think that a sex offender can be cured. Not I, once a sex offender ALWAYS a sex offender.Castration sounds like a great idea!

Way to go on the arrest! Peeping may seem minimal, but this is one of those gateway crimes that escalate to so much more. Growing up, we had a peeping tom and everyone knew him to be one. Needless to say, after a not so good talk with my dad, our house had no more problems with this kid.

So was the Parker guy arrested or did he turn himself in? Just move to another sight I guess. One person made the comment it was in Sunday's paper , I guess I missed.

Posted by lilredhead (anonymous) on July 29, 2008 at 11:57 a.m. (Suggest removal)

It was in the crime reports on here. You can't go back and look at it though I tried. It said he was arrested for statutory rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In statutory rape the girl or boy consent to the sex but the parents can press charges even if the girl or boy does not want them to and it will not matter if it was forced rape or not. So the question is was it rape or statutory rape?

Posted by whataboutit (anonymous) on July 29, 2008 at 12:03 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Why would a rapist turn himself in? Wonder if either girl went to the doctor?

Posted by overthehill60 (anonymous) on July 29, 2008 at 12:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I'm sure this is not the first window he has peeked into since 1991. I'm glad this pervert is off the streets though I doubt it will be for long.

what a bunch of pansies the Natchez Democrat staff is

you can't even say you would shoot a burglar without getting censored

thank you guys for your support

thanks pbnj

I just said my dogs would have chewed that guy up, and then I would have sliced him with my sword, then called the police to clean up the mess

I can't believe that the completely objective comments that we all were making earlier about the alleged rape case caused the ND staff to disable comments on that story

what a bunch of pansies

we were simply discussing the ifs ands buts and probablys of the situation

if some parents or kinfolk were upset, too bad, they should be keeping up with their kids better anyway

and if the kids go out and get in trouble, they deserve the embarrasement and punishment as appropriate

ooooh, ok Ben

didn't realize that

thanks for the clarification

can I say b_tt, or dierierre? or buttocks?

Jeezzzz!

well my deleted comment was really justifcation for a previous comment

I think drawspainting

who stated that shooting the peeping tom was a valid choice

another commentor questioned the legality of that

I simply stated that the "peeping tom" was not knocking on the window to request entrance, but noise from his attempts to force the window open and gain illegal entry by breaking through the locking mechanism of the window, thus causing the occupants to experience HIGH ANXIETY AND FEAR FOR THEIR LIFE, justifying their response of self-defense by legal use of a firearm. I also went on to explain my personal choice of self-defense to my property and family. I have a gang of dogs and various weapons and often patrol my property with said dogs whenever they sound off at night. I think it's a prudent measure, and kinda fun too. Good excercise don't ya know.

hey thanks for that sex offender info site Teach4peach and SayitRight

43 offenders listed

looked like only a couple actually in jail now

and a couple are noncompliant as to registering their current address

several are living near my neighborhood!!!!!!!! I think I'll review the mugshots and if I see one walking around suspiciously at night, I'll call NPD. Sometimes the grandkids and my neighbors' grandkids are around and women often walk and jog around the 'hood.

This website that generoberts posted earlier ought to frighten everyone. There are 91 hits in Adams County. Take out the aliases and its probably about 50-60 people in Natchez that have committed sex crimes. They have committed them in Michigan, Georgia, Alabama, California, and other places. It's unbelievable. I recognized one of them and didn't even know they had been convicted.

Someone told me not so long ago that if I knew all of the offenders that live in the MissLou that I would pack my family up and never come back. This person knows who all of the offenders are who have been convicted and the ones that are being watched.

Sex offenders are everywhere lilredhead. I think it is a good idea to check the sites posted frequently and just be careful who you talk to and what you talk to them about. Never give any personal info to someone you don't know well.

Posted by lilredhead (anonymous) on July 29, 2008 at 8:17 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I signed up to get email alerts when a sex offender moves within 2 miles of my home or the schools. So far three have moved within 2 miles and I have yet to receive an email. I check at least once a week to make sure I know who they are and where they are. I do not let my kids go out by themselves unless they are in the back yard where I can see them. They will not talk to anybody unless I say it is ok. It is a shame that you can not feel safe in your own neighborhood anymore. When I was little I ran our road from sun up to sun down. Everybody knew me and if I got out of line they called my grandmother and I was in DEEP trouble.
