everyone, please go donate blood for mr. mcdaniel. if you can't donate your blood, tell others about this drive & show your support. this man has served our town and county for many decades.

his family has been thru lots of turmoil the last few years. jerry roberts, mr. mcdaniel's nephew, was killed in the waco plane crash in 2006. jerry roberts was named after mr. mcdaniel.

mr. mcdaniel has family members with serious health problems and now he himself has been diagnosed with cancer.

while the mcdaniel family is a strong unit, they need your support, love and prayers.

mr. mcdaniel is truely a HERO and has served us beyond measure. please do all you can to help.

I hope that our firefighters and those with the sheriff's department and police department will challange each other to see who can make the most donations in Mr. McDaniel's name. These men and women take care of their own and I hope they step up and donate for him. Donating blood truly is the gift of life.

I wish this individual well. However, getting donated blood is the fasted way to get HIV. The blood screening processes have not been improved in 20 years.

The antiquated ban on classes of donors is emblematic of the failure of the blood collection community to improve their testing and screening of the donated blood. They cannot provide safe blood to the public.

Don't take donated blood. It is a death sentence.

my prayers are with you and you're family.i remember when my dad was diagnoised with lung cancer.my sister and i were takeing him to both cancer doctors.de'marie was working for the radiation doctor at the time.we were treated very shabby by her.i remember my sister and i told her that she may be used to sick people comming in here but this was our dad and we were not used to being treated like this.i do understand that when you work around sick people day in and day out i guess it just becomes a job.our dad lived for 5 months after that,iv'e thought about this often and sometimes when i would run into her in town, sometimes i wondered if she new how very bad this hurt us as a family and what we were going through at the time.my dad didn't want us to say a whole lot at the time he was afraid that it would only make things worse on him as a patient.he never new that we went back in and had our say.you see i new de'marie since school days maybe she was having a bad day, i do forgive her.i will be at the blood drive on saturday.to help out.

natchezsouthside you are absolutely an idiot for placing your comments on this page. You do not know what you are talking about concerning the US blood supply & transfusions.
Hopefully this blood drive will help save someones life.

BOBCAT1974, I am so sorry for your loss of your father. I also knew DeMarie in school, so I must have known you too; (all the way from Montebello to SNAHS) and I would like to say "THANK YOU" for putting your differences & feelings aside and being a part of the blood drive; to me that makes you the greater person. I am in another state so I am unable to donate blood for Mr. Jerry; but I would if I were there.

HIV is one of the first things the blood bank screens for!! tainted blood is not accepted and passed on to patients!!!!

NATCHEZSOUTHSIDE: how dare you say such a thing. your statement is of ignorance.

Natchezsouthside:

My Aunt has taken many many pints of blood due to an illness she has. This has been going on for years with no HIV issues.
You need to read up on the process of blood banks now before posting such ignorance.

Blood banks are not required to, and therefore do NOT screen out all high risk donors for HIV in advance of donation. I know this for a fact.

We are all told how safe the blood supply is because they screen out high risk donors. That is a LIE!

The donor screening procedures are the same that have been in place for 20+ years. They are NOT current and do not reflect the realities of the threat of HIV infection in the USA today. Gay men and Haitians are banned from donating blood. No other high-risk group is banned. WHY??? Why do they put us at risk??

That is antiquated information and the procedures are putting all blood recipients at risk.

This poor man aside, the blood supply is NOT safe and they are NOT using up to date standards in the blood collection community.

Do not take donated blood.
