Mother and son arrested

Published Friday, August 1, 2008

NATCHEZ — A mother-son fight Thursday morning led to a minor cut and two arrests.

A call came in to the Natchez Police Department at 10 a.m. stating there was a fight on Watts Avenue.

Catherine Johnson, 64, 402 Watts Ave., and Percy Johnson Jr., 48, 402 Watts Ave., began their fight inside the house, according to Police Chief Mike Mullins.

“She advised he punched her in the face, and she started throwing his clothes out the door,” he said.

Mullins said when Percy Johnson allegedly threatened to hit his mother with a candleholder, she got a knife.

“He pushed her out of the door, knocked her on the ground and she got up and swung at him,” Mullins said, relaying eyewitness reports.

She caused a small laceration on his forearm and, according to eyewitnesses, he went back inside and got a knife, as well, Mullins said.

Mullins said Catherine Johnson suffered from injuries, as well.

Police officers and an ambulance arrived on the scene and Percy Johnson was transported to Natchez Community Hospital via ambulance where he was treated and released.

Catherine Johnson and Percy Johnson were both arrested and charged with simple assault, domestic violence.

No bond will be set until arraignment.

No man in his right mind would punch his mama. This is totaly ridiculous.

Dude don't hit your mama. And while I'm handing out advice go get a place of your own, you're 48 years old!
Another thing, if you are going to kill her don't do it with a candleholder in the study. The knife in kitchen or the rope in the billards room are far less obvious

First off, unless you are your mother's 24/7 caregiver, what are you doing living at home with her at 48 and causing all this hell? They both are too old to be carrying on like that, but more importantly, how do you get into a fist fight with your mother, and then proceed to fight her like any other stranger on the street? ! I don't know what precipitated this foolishness, but it's too hot for all this.

This is absolutely CRAZY!! This so-called man is as LOW as they come; pushing his own mother out the door and knocking her down to the ground after having already punched her in the face? I don't care how upset you get at your mother, you don't EVER lay a hand on her! How DARE you!!!

YOU OUGHTA BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF! I HAVE 2 GROWN SONS, THEY WOULD NEVER RAISE THEIR HAND OR ANYTHING ELSE TO ME! THOU SHALL HONOR THY MOTHER& FATHER GOES A LONG WAY! THIS IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE COMMON THERE, I FEEL SAD FOR MY HOMETOWN, TO SEE THE PEOPLE RUNNING AMOCK, KILLING, THIEVING, PEEPING, RAPING,I just do not know what to think of the headlines anymore. If that is not enough to deal with, I am hearing about all of the politicians MISSISSIPPIANS PUT INTO OFFICE & THE CORRUPTION. When I do come back home to visit my relatives who still are there, I will be strapped, if a man will try to beat his moma up, he would not have 2nd thoughts about hurting anyone else. Furthermore, I hope she takes it to the MAX., and has his butt put away, then he wont have to worry his moma about where he and his clothes can stay, being a native NATCHEZ born&raised, I will come back to visit like I said, was considering buying another house there, but I may just check out the surrounding areas, where CRIME & CORRUPTION are lower!

My sweet Jesus! No matter WHAT his mama may have done or said, that low life looser had NO RIGHT laying his hands on his mama! Apparantely, he didnt get his butt tore up enough when he was small. NO RESPECT! My word! He is almost an old man and he is jumping on and threatening to kill his mama! This blows my mind. HIS OWN MAMA! Mooching off of his mama and treating her like she is dirt! She should have followed the rules of the Holy word a long time ago and he would think twice before trying that mess. "Beat you child with the rod of reproof, and save his soul from Hell". That doesnt mean literally "beat" it means spank, whip, pop, bust their tails! "Spare the rod, spoil the child". It sure didnt kill me! it made me a respectful person, a good wife and a good mama. The police should tie him down and let his mama handle up on him! This just blows my mind. A son jumping on his mama! God, have mercy!!

Unless the mother was getting a check for him, I can't understand why even she would want him in her house! Listen, these folk need to understand, if someone is SO OFF they will raise their hand to hit you, a trip to Whitfield is in order and the State will deal with you differently, that's for sure. Further, it seems from some of your comments, the mom and son do this quite often. Sad.

If he is off, then there might be a check at stake. I do not know these people, but what if he is a little off and she has always mistreated him. Just wondering if that could be a possibility. Not that even that would make any of this ok.

What's a 40 y/o man doing living with his mother??
Somebody needs to learn to grow the heck up FAST and support himself.

He's not stable enough to live by himself form what i understand.

He was transported to the hospital and Mama wasn't. Sounds like she put the hurt on his sorry hiney.

She could get a restraining order against her son if she wanted to, so it seems that she doesn't fear him that much. Maybe she is the aggressor here.
