Ferriday woman states self defense in parish murder

Published Thursday, August 14, 2008

VIDALIA — The woman accused in the fatal Sunday stabbing of a Ferriday man made her first appearance in court Wednesday.

Crystal M. Gordon, 19, 114 Brook St., Ferriday, was arrested on charges of second-degree murder in connection with the death of 27-year-old Alex Promise Jr. Sunday.

Gordon was magistrated before the Seventh District Judicial Court Wednesday morning, and Judge Leo Boothe set her bond at $275,000.

Dressed in an orange Concordia Parish inmate’s suit, Gordon appeared ill at ease and rocked back-and-forth in her chair during the proceeding as Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigator Bobby Sheppard briefed Boothe about the case.

The killing happened outside 100 Woodmont St., in Ridgecrest, where Gordon’s grandmother lives.

According to Sheppard, after she was arrested, Gordon told investigators she and Promise, who were living together, had had an altercation earlier that afternoon.

Promise was leaving the couple’s Brook Street residence, and told Gordon to take him to Ferriday, Sheppard said.

Gordon reportedly told investigators it was at that time she armed herself with a kitchen knife because, “she was afraid he would jump on her again,” Sheppard said.

When the quarreling couple reached the Woodmont Street residence, Gordon reportedly told investigators Promise hit her — the investigator noted a mark on her head, Sheppard said — and when she tried to exit the vehicle Promise reportedly grabbed her.

It was at that point Gordon reportedly said she stabbed Promise in self-defense, Sheppard said.

CPSO investigators later found the knife they believe was used in the stabbing in the mud behind the Woodmont Street residence.

Gordon has also been charged with a bench warrant for failure to appear at an unrelated court date.

low bond for flippin murder!

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on August 14, 2008 at 9:32 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I am behind her, some men think their mates are their "property" and can beat on them whenever they choose. Does this guy have a history of violence?

Seems to me that a 19 year old girl would not have a huge motive to just murder her boyfriend. She was and is probably scared and insecure. Abusive relationships are very common and are hard to get out of. She may have had to do what she had to do.

Remember L.B.?

The bond is based on the person's chances of running or repeating the crime. Everyone is entitled to a bond that they can afford unless they are an extreme danger to the community. I doubt that this young lady will repeat the crime as it was a "domestic dispute".

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on August 14, 2008 at 10:04 a.m. (Suggest removal)

She may basically be a moral and good person, just not so intelligent.

As for this story, abusive relationships are no justification for murder, but if she was defending herself, maybe she thought the only way to live was to kill him. If she just tried to hurt him, it would have made him even more mad. Think about it??? Perhaps she thought he would eventually kill her if she tried to leave him, those kinds of threats come with those kinds of relationships.

You don't know what you would do after someone beats the heck out of you. Don't judge the girl, let the courts decide. You weren't there and don't know what happened.

Posted by Krogers (anonymous) on August 14, 2008 at 10:24 a.m. (Suggest removal)

probably more bond than she can meet , even if it is low by some standards, she's only 19 and has no property I would guess

I think she needs to stay locked up, to me it is NOT acceptable to KILL someone because they hit you and grab you, the law and morality calls for equal force for force. It is obvious that the man was not threatening her life, as he was transporting her to where she wanted to go, per her statement. He may have hit her, but she may have hit him first, who knows what all went on. I wonder what other injuries he had, when the autopsy report comes out that will be interesting, if we ever get the know that from a future story. All we know at this point is that a man is dead, she admits stabbing him, the evidence is there, her life wasn't threatened. Guilty in my mind.

She's got an anger management problem, and will loose her temper again and hurt someone again in my opinion and is therefore a threat to the community. She also failed to appear in court previously so she is disobedient to the court and likely to flee from justice and not appear at her trial.

sayitloud - I guess I have to agree with you on this one, yes it's a low bond, but I'm thinking she won't be able to post it, any bailbondsman will look at her record and consider her a high risk and will not want to loose his money on her. I would think.

anonymouscoward

are you nuts! she killed a guy for very little reason, so what if they had a scuffle, her life wasn't threatened. I certainly don't want this viscious animal out loose on the streets to kill again. That's my opinion, how can we trust this young woman, she has already shown defiance to the court by failing to appear previously! She has no respect for peace and decent life.

Posted by Krogers (anonymous) on August 14, 2008 at 10:29 a.m. (Suggest removal)

why don't you take her in and take care of her, if you trust her so much, don't you want her for your neighbor? Or better yet, go down to the courthouse and post bond for her if you trust her so much.

Posted by sayitloud (anonymous) on August 14, 2008 at 10:32 a.m. (Suggest removal)

And Krogers I also agree with you on this.....she is a danger to society and I also agree has an anger management issue or two.

Posted by Krogers (anonymous) on August 14, 2008 at 10:36 a.m. (Suggest removal)

oh wait, after rereading the story, he was riding with her

sorry about that

why did she allow him to ride with her? something is not right with that.

If you are trying to get away from someone, why would you be so friendly and give them a ride if you feared for you life, or had just had a fight? Obviously the victim wanted to reconcile and didn't want her to leave him. So she had armed herself before leaving and giving him the ride, which could prove premeditation.

regardless I still stand by my opinion that she didn't have to kill him because they were having a lover's quarrel and a couple of blows were passed. I don't see that her life was ever at risk.

Do any of you even know her? Do any of you know the relationship? Valid, I jump to conclusions often, but there could be more to the story. Look what happen to OJ, the evidence was there and was ignored. This could be the same type of incident, except reversed roles.

Men beat women all the time, and I guantaree if one tried slapping me around, I would defend myself with whatever was there, butterknife, frying pan, tv, shoe, gun, tire tool, tire, garbage can, fingernail file, whatever!

It is not right for men to beat up on women who are SCIENTIFICALLY are not as strong. And it happens all too often. Then the children see and think it is the right thing to do so it continues from generation to generation.

obamayamamamamaniac

abusive relationships cannot become an excuse for murder

I agree it is bad and a crime for spousal abuse - which can go either way - man abusing woman, or woman abusing man

but the solution is for counseling and prudence in developing a relationship, not solving your problems in more violence and killing your spouse because you are unhappy and having problems. There must be a better solution to dysfunctional relationship, and we as thoughtful members of a decent society cannot accept murder as a solution to an abusive relationship. I can see justifiable homocide if there is truly a life threatening situation, but in this case it doesn't appear to be so.

I wonder why he why HE been in jail before.
This is another abusive case where the lady felt in danger & she was smart enough to have protection.
We will only hear her side so there's not much need trying to figure out a why.

THANK YOU DUKE! I totally agree. I have seen men slap women around, and it is not right!

She defended herself and hopefully if let out of jail, will begin a life without these types of relationships (which are so unhealthy for society).

Again, abusive relationships are WRONG, but not justification for murder

I was told by someone that was out there, that Crystal was the driver of the truck. I am having a hard time picturing a person driving being able to pull up a knife and stab all at the same time. Especially at the high rate she was driving. I know one witness who said that she will testify because she saw just about the whole situation and that the victim was trying to leave but Crystal would't give him the keys to the truck. It's my understanding that he was the one who rented the truck.
AS for as the bond being extermely high, she can't get out until her trial. Remember in the last paragraph, it states that she was also charged with a bench warrant for not appearing, therefore if she didn't return for a lesser charge why would the system let her out. They feel that she would definitely run and not return to court for this serious crime that she is accused of being responsible for.

Shandavs - thanks for that post

you have a good point, and that is some interesting info

First of all, I want to send my condolences to both families since this incident has caused both families to lose a loved one. Secondly, domestic violence is getting out of hand and the amount of mates killing one another has really taken off over the past year. This is really all you hear about in the papers. Domestic alternations turning into someone being murdered.

I knew both of these people. I knew him more than her though. These two have both had run-ins with the police because of fighting and i'm thinking that's what she was supposed to appear in court about. It's just sad that it had to end like this and two young lives are lost.

Because of the high rate of men killing women, my feelings are mixed on this one. I never condone anyone taking a life and especially not because someone has grabbed you. She could have screamed for help or anything if he was hitting her again since she was right at her grandmother's house. Someone probably would have heard her. I just don't think she should have resorted to this type of violence unless he had threatened and told her that he was going to kill her. Now in that case, I say use whatever means necessary to get away from the person.

My heart just goes out to the Promise family. These are some really nice people and it's sad that their son, brother, nephew, cousin, or uncle had to be taken away so senselessly. This could have ended much better than this. I truly don't believe that she tried to kill him but you have to know the possibilities of using this type of weapon on a person.

I just pray that justice is served in whatever way this turns out. We don't know what happens so we can't throw stones. Only the father above and these two people know what took place that day. So for those of you that have a heart and believe in praying, I say to keep these families in your prayers.

ok Krogers, that sounds like a descent approach to getting out an abusive relationship. BUT THIS IS FERRIDAY!!!! Morality is not exactly common there.

Maybe she thought if she just tried to fight back, it would anger him more causing more harm for her. Maybe he has told her he would kill her if she ever tried to leave.

All I am saying is she is only 19 years old, still a teenager, and barely legal. If she were older, I would think differently about the situation.

Look, that is the problem with America today, TOO MUCH RESPECT FOR HUMAN LIFE! Our prison systems are over-crowded because of this, and it cost millions of dollars to lethally inject murderers. Meanwhile, our economy is weakening while we pay for these fugitives to live.

So this guy got murdered by his 19 year old girlfriend. The whole fight could have started days before she gave him the ride.

And another thing, why have so much respect for human life? We are no better or worse than any other animal that roams this earth. People live and people die, simple as that. Only in America do people become saints AFTER they die.

There is nothing more aggravating that seeing these people with absolutely NOTHING wrong whatsoever physically STANDING ON THE CORNERS OF STREETS ALL DAY LONG!!! Meanwhile, hard working people like myself (when not commenting) who pay A LOT of taxes drive by EVERYDAY AND SEE THAT! Sounds like Dale had 365 vacation days while tax payers were probably paying his salary! UHHHHH!!!!!

As for Krogers, I have been there myself. I have been told that if I leave him, he will kill himself. I had to sleep by a .38 everynight in fear of him. And I had to get a restraining order when he would not leave me alone. You are a man, you have more strength than a woman, PERIOD! Sure, women are crazy too. The ignorant thing is that she will probably find another abusive guy, if this guy really was. Most women do not know what to do with a guy that does not abuse them. I guess they just miss being cussed, beat on, and everything else that comes with it. I guess I don't understand it or I just don't want to understand it.

Did you all see in the blog yesterday where one of this man's friends address all of their friends TO NOT BEAT UP ON THEIR WOMEN WHEN THEY WANTED TO LEAVE, just let them go and get another one? Those were not his exact words, just the jest of them. So basically, he was saying this was not the first time this guy had beat up on her when she tried to leave.

fantasialuck- WELL I know what I would do cause I've been there, I've had a woman try to stab me, I took the knife away and left her

I've had a woman try to run over me with her car - I got out of the way and I left her. I've had women cheat on me, I gave them a piece of my mind, got even with the guy, and left her.

I have never raised a hand to a woman in my life, but I have held them till they calmed down and could safely exit the scene. Nothing like a hotblooded woman- LOL!!

My brother keeps telling me I have poor taste in women!!

But I've been blessed since then and am now celebrating my 10th yr marriage anniversary and have a wonderful loving wife.

Obamayamamamamaniac - listen - you have a point there we do need to exact proper punishment, that is all part of JUSTICE. Yes we do need to follow through with capital punishment for these violent repeat definitely guilty criminals I agree on that. But that's a lot different then giving people a free pass on murder over a lover's quarrel.

First, to the Promise Family you know how we feel about Dale over in our area of Ferriday, Dale moved over the track in 2000 and became a part of our family. He's only been gone for three days and I personally has changed my driving route because i cant stand passing down the street and not seeing him standing out. We dont know what happen that day but i can say this someone should have stopped them that day before this happened. You have all these witnesses that claim that they saw them fighting as early as 5:00 a.m. in the morning. Why didnt someone stop them then? All of this happen in her area of town and not in our area. People Across the Track stick together and if someone starts to fight in our area we intervene because we care about each other and would not have let anything like this take place. We have lost one of our Rachet Boys to a terrible tragedy. To Mr. & Mrs. Promise we love you and we are sadely going to miss Dale but we will never forget him. 285 Concordia Drive will always be "Dale's". To My Boys across the Track: Bobby, Spoonick, Hosea, Keon, Johnny, Jolla, Sharrod,Tago, Freak,Terri, Ericque, Cain, Shawn, look up to the sky and smile because Dale is looking down on you all. Learn from his mistakes and know that you can not change these girls. If it's not working let her go, DO NOT hit them. My prayers go out to Crystal family, take care of little Delion. May God work this out for everyone.

First of all to Krogers. Sometimes it's not that easy to get out of an abusive relationship. I stayed with a person for four and a half years. He became abusive. Every time I tried to leave him he threaten to kill me. He kept a gun with him. I placed a restrain order on him didn't help. He still threaten me. I stay in that relationship out of fear for 3 and half years out of that 4 and half year relationship. I had to come up with a lie that I was going to stay with a family member for a while to help out. Packed my clothes. He asked why I packed all my clothes. I said I mixed the dirty clothes in with the clean ones so I have to wash. I left him and never looked back. I saw myself about to snap and do something to him but I thought about our child.i can't take care of her behind bars. My love for her and my life was more important than me doing something I would regret.

She wasn't the one trying to leave. It was her house. She was the one renting the property. He was the one in fact that was trying to leave. She didn't want to give him the keys to the truck. Before she stabbed him I heard that he had called his mom to come get him but when she got there she found her son stabbed. I feel no pitty because she did't have to have that knife. I also heard that she hit him with the truck Saturday night, not enough to harm him but she did hit him. This come from a witness who gave him a ride home that night.

It's really sad it had to come this when they could have easily went seperate ways.

I know if I ever stabbed someone to death I would scream "self defense" this lady is not stupid & I'm sure the defense lawyers are telling her what to say.
The truth will come out, though I do belive it was self defense. If she had left long ago this could have been avoided. I wonder why bad people attract one another.
Maybe people should stop living the terrible lives they lead & try to better themselves especialy when children are involved. The Bible is the first place to help find inner peace. You don't have to go to church or let any of your friends know you are reading it. It can be between you and God.
Why do the hardest criminal turn to the Bible in jail, is it they are finding that inner peace they have been deprived of for most of their lives? Or is to make thenmeselves look good for their record?
For anyone wondering I am not a church pusher but, I do believe the Bible has the answers.
Excuse any misspelled words.

I agree that the Sheriff Department really need to look closely into this. I wasn't there but I have a problem with this. If he asked her to take him to Ferriday, seems to me he was the one trying to leave. They were already fighting at home than why not just stay and continue to fight instead of trying to leave? She was behind the wheel and stopped in front of her grandmother's house it's not too many times I have passed on the highway and looked in that direction and didn't see a corner full of people, or somtimes I ride over in that area it's always someone sitting out front of her grandmothers house. My thing is it seems that she grab the knife knowing what her intentions were because if she knew they had been fighting why not scream when she got in front of her granmothers house or lay on the horn. Before anyone say I don't know about abuse I do, I was with this guy and he also told me to take him to his aunt's house and he hit me before we got there but when I did get there I got out the car and got to his aunt of course he grab me to but I struggle to get out the car, after that I went to the police station and had them to tell him to stay away from me. So what I saying I just don't understand why a life had to end.

No one wants to be abused...no one asked to be abused....it just happens...when you have weak boys who feel like they are a man but let a man come step to them they cower and run like the wind. No, i do not condone murder but if it were my life or my children's lives at stake different story...Where does morality come in then??? Do you morally let someone cause you or your family harm...thoughts to ponder!!!!!

concernedone for your information i do know where my children are...I also have a job...I couldn't think of a problem much worse than facing murder charges....

Once again why wasn't she with her child? The reason for the concern of her child is it is apparent she surely wasn't or isn't concerned about it...

You have a 19 year old here that has children and been in a abusive relationship for sometimes now and yet had the guts to kill someone but, didn't have the guts to leave....I do not buy that....She should have been trying to get ready for college instead of chasing a grown man...

Having been in a situation like that myself, I know that I couldn't bring myself to use a weapon. But I have said, get thee behind me Satan, and after that, he couldn't touch me. I could feel the wind from his hand swinging past my face, but he couldn't touch me, and then he fell down on the floor on his knees and put his head at my feet. I told him to get up, but he couldn't. It was like someone was holding him down. I know God is real and miracles do happen.

Wow...underthehill, you can totally cut and paste from Thesuaurs.com.

Why does it bother you that I question the existence of God? Isn't it "free will" that is supposedly given by God, that allows us to question. If we did not, wouldn't that be a total slight against Him.

You do realize Christianity began as a cult about two thousand years ago...and some people still see it as a cult. And why shouldn't they. The church wants everyone to think the same and not for themselves. The church wants everyone to fall in line and spout out the same lines over and over. That sounds like a society of robots and non-thinkers.

If you want to fall into that category, then by all means, knock yourself out.

Since, I can think for myself...that makes me more Human than you.

Absolutely...my kids can make their own decisions. I totally believe in religious freedom. My kids say their prayers every night. I am right there with them. I have even said prayers with them. I don't let my beliefs hinder theirs...except for sports. They will be Dallas Cowboy fans, but I digress.

I am not confused at all. This is what I mean about people and religion. People get are shocked when someone doesn't believe. Why is that a big deal?

By being christians, you believe in free will. You believe that God gave us the right to make our own decisions. Like I posted earlier, it would be a total slight against God not to question.

That's what makes us Human. That's what separates us from other animals. We have the ability to think freely and use that ability as we please.

All religion does is cloud everyone's thoughts.

I have my beliefs and they are different than yours. Big deal. As American, everyone should be believe in religious freedom. Heck our forefathers wanted religion out of government. Many of them were agnostic, non-believers or deist. They put religious freedom in the Constitution because they acknowledged it as an inherent right of all humans. They didn't specify which church was right or who (Jesus) should be followed.

So if I shocked you...too bad. I am sure you will not lose any sleep over it...and neither will I.

For those intellectuals out there who will not have the faith to believe in Jesus, I just point them to something they could better understand: scientific probability. The post I make after this one is just a sample of how unlikely it is that Jesus is not the Messiah. To me, the most staggering prophecy is that the Messiah would be crucified which was written way before crucifixion was even invented by the Romans. Anyway, people will still look at this information and then start saying things like "those manuscripts aren't dated correctly" or "things were made up just so they could fit the prophecies". They couldn't make up that many things. BTW, Isaiah wrote about the earth being curved back in 700 B.C. How did he know that? But even when people are confronted with things they can't explain away, they will still deny Jesus as their Lord. They just don't understand that the moment they draw their last breath will be the moment they are forced to bow their knees and confess Him Lord before He judges them.

"If you still happen to be unconvinced that the baby born in Bethlehem 2000 years ago was anything more than just an ordinary human baby, let me challenge you with a few of "the odds" in that regard.

To begin with, did you know that the Old Testament prophet Micah, writing circa 700 B.C., out of the hundreds and hundreds of cities in the scores and scores of nations in existence all over the world even in those days, designated Bethlehem of Judea as the birthplace of the Messiah (Micah 5:2)?

And that at about the same time, Isaiah (7:14) said that the Christ would be born of a virgin?

Or that a prophecy made in 1012 B.C. specified that the Messiah's hands and feet would eventually be pierced--a clear reference to death by crucifixion--800 years before the Romans ever even instituted crucifixion as a form of capital punishment!

Malachi 3:1, penned in about 425 B.C., specified that the Messiah would be contemporary with the temple in Jerusalem--a temple that was destroyed in 70 A.D. and has never been rebuilt.

Well, if all this impresses you even a little bit, you ought to go compare Zechariah 11:11-13 (written over 500 years before Christ) to Matthew 27:3-10 (written some 25-30 years after Christ). Only coincidence?

A number of years ago, Peter W. Stoner and Robert C. Newman wrote a book entitled Science Speaks. The book was based on the science of probability and vouched for by the American Scientific Affiliation. It set out the odds of any one man in all of history fulfilling even only eight of the 60 major prophecies (and 270 ramifications) fulfilled by the life of Christ.

The probability that Jesus of Nazareth could have fulfilled even eight such prophecies would be only 1 in 1017. That's 1 in 100, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000.

Stoner claims that that many silver dollars would be enough to cover the face of the entire state of Texas two feet deep. Now I've been to Texas. I've driven for days to get across Texas. Texas is a very big state. Who in his right mind would suppose that a blindfolded man, heading out of Dallas by foot in any direction, would be able, on his very first attempt, to pick up one specifically marked silver dollar out of 100, 000, 000, 000, 000, 000?"

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on August 15, 2008 at 5:06 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I said it before, and I will say it again. The main reason why people believe in religion is because of selfish views of life after death. You said it yourself Swapmeet:

"They just don't understand that the moment they draw their last breath will be the moment they are forced to bow their knees and confess Him Lord before He judges them."

This is the reason. People want to believe that they will have something to look forward to after death. Religion says they MUST pray for forgiveness or will BURN FOR ETERNITY! So they spend their entire lives praying so hopefully they will be "saved" from such a horrible destiny. Selfish.

Why can't our after-lives consist of something people have not invented? Why does it have to be some barbaric idea probably achieved from hallucinogenic mushrooms (which by the way WAS mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls) 2000 years ago???

Science has proved that organisms on this earth were here 3.9 billion years ago? Where did they go when they died? Where did the original Homo Sapians go after death? Did they go to hell because they didnt pray for forgiveness EVEN THOUGH they didnt know they were suppose to? Or were they turned away from both Heaven and Hell because they werent the right kind of humans? So does that mean that God is racist?

If you really ask yourself these questions and arent scared to figure out the answers, you may understand that religion is a MAN-MADE IDEA postulated by 1000's of generations before us.

Ok, swapmeet, since you seem to have so much supporting evidence of basically the origins of christianity, let me share with you mine concerning PROOF that there was indeed another saintly person who was born. and died, and was resurected. And this occurred decades BEFORE JESUS CHRIST existed.

I am not going copy/paste all the info, but I will give some references in which you can input into the web browser. Ever hear of the Teacher of Righteousness? John Allegro interpretted this person from physical proof which was found in a deep, dark, cave. These documents ARE called the dead sea scolls. They present actual proof, from carbon dating, that these scrolls IN FACT existed way before Christ came around. John Allegro tried to publish what his interpretations were of this and was CONDEMNED BY THE CHURCH in the 50's. Notably, he was interpretting, but he had educational background with a degree in oriental studies and was IN FACT a well respected, intelligent man.

NOW, you tell me, why and how is it that although there is PHYSICAL PROOF that religion could be a hoax, that you and every other hollie roller out there always SHOVE the Jesus Christ story down out throats when you have NO EVIDENCE pertaining to the the year A.D 32? There is no physical evidence that religion is real except for a man made bible that has been updated 1000's of times AND named after humans?

I especially love this: "confess Him Lord before He judges them". If your God wanted us to have FREE WILL, then why is he judging us in the first place?

Posted by Swapmeet (anonymous) on August 15, 2008 at 6:08 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yes He wants us to have free will to choose Him as our Lord. He doesn't want anyone to come to Him except on their own volition. But God is a holy and just God and must uphold His word. The bible clearly states that those who refuse to submit to the Lordship of Christ will be judged by Him. Yes He gave us the free will to choose to accept Him or not, but He also judges those who choose not to accept Him.

Can you explain why the crucifixion was prophesied before it was even a form of punishment?

I thought that the scientific field of probabilities might convince you, but you will not answer how Jesus could have fulfilled so many prophecies. I just need to learn that even if you use something concrete to prove who Jesus is, a person will still deny Jesus as long as they want to live for themselves.

How is it so hard for someone before common era to imagine a person being hung from two large sticks at right angles of each other? Imagine living in this era. Nothing to do but ponder thoughts using imagination for extracurricular activity. Now imagine if one were to somehow see the shape of a cross in nature and compare it to the body of a man. I would imagine that many things were compared to man then. And remember the key ingredient here, time. Hundreds of thousands of years, men have lived here. Evidence supports the hunter/gatherer Homo Sapian Sapian age began after the last ice age (10000 B.C.E.), so that basically gives man 10000 years to come up with some form of worshipping (usually dealing with the sun and rain). Just do some research on all ancient, previous, cults and religions (Greek, Ejyptian, Mayan, etc) out there. Why and how is Christianity any different? And remember, you can not use the bible for a source considering it was written by man and NAMED after men.

Every single religion (which I am sure someone will copy/paste and prove me wrong) all have one thing in common, to please a form of dominance (1 or more Gods) so that it will be beneficial for either their life here on Earth or the one after it. Christianity stuck with us so long because the god has a son and that son was supposedly just an everyday guy, not royality, not supernatural, just a typical guy. So people didnt and still do not feel threatened by this.

Will you get out of here stupid, nobody wants to hear your eighth grade comments. This is WAY over your eighth grade education sayitloud. You offer no kind of intelligence, only agreeance on every single blog you write on. If you want to debate, go get a college education first (and I dont mean Colin).
Skank!

Beyond help huh? And you, the LOSER from Natchez, who has no independent thinking skills whatsoever, and proves this everyday on the Natchez Democrat website!
HAHAHHA! I stare at my degrees on the wall and HOPE that I am not beyond help.

Hey, Obama, I went to Colin, and I'm very intellegent. LOL!

There she goes again, agreeing with someone else as usual, never adding a free-thinking, independent comment.
Of course, I just must accept that sayitloud's mental capacity is beyond full, nothing more can fit inside that pea-sized blob.

Nothing wrong with Colin draw, just dont criticize someone else as being "beyond help".

Hey Swapmeet, I am ready when you are.

(Posted by obamayamama: Hey Swapmeet, I am ready when you are.)

Ready for what? I am not here to argue with you. Since you seemed to be a person of reason, I thought that scientific probabilities would show you that Jesus was the Messiah as prophesied of in the Old Testament. Even if there was proof of crucifixion from 10,000 B.C. to 800 B.C. (Before Christ), which you have offered none of, it still doesn't explain how the Messiah was prophesied to be crucified and that was how Jesus was executed. It shows that even if a person like yourself is presented with facts that are hard to refute, you will still not entertain the possibility that Jesus just might truly be the Son of God. Not until you decide to stop living for yourself will you come to this realization.

As I said earlier, I am not angry or care to have some big fall-out here on the web. That's really just immature when people berate each other on a small-town newspaper's website. I really pity you more than anything because I once stood in your shoes, and I know how tough it is. In Christ, I love you and will pray that God will soften your hard heart towards Him if He hasn't given up on you already (Zechariah 7:12-13).

Just so you know concernedone, I am gonna be a witness against Crystal. I am suppose to be testifing that she was doing crack cocaine, sleeping with random people for money for her drug addiction. She deserves to be buried under the jail.

In some shape or form we have all shown some ignornace thinking our comments are tops. We've all shown we could never make it as a writer. We are all a bunch of rednecks out for blood & it seems we get that everyday in our comments that 8 out of 10 time strays away from the article written.

How many of you ever wondered when you go to the store if you are talking to the person you are critizing? Or it may be a relative or your best friend.

I made a post in response to Obama, but it wasn't the last one. It's back up there at the 7:35 p.m. mark. I don't get it. LOL.

To Alex and Sheila, my heart goes out to you. My heart also goes out to the Dixon family. Many people come on this site with hurtful comments when they don't get the chance to find out details. I know both parties. It is true when many people said that Dale was a quiet person. No one knows the entire truth about what went on but both parties involved. I was once in an abusive relationship also at one time but God blessed me to finally get out of it. Everyone is not as fortunate. Crystal Mae isn't as horrible as she is made out to be. Personally, I feel sorry for her and Dale as well. Whenever the truth comes out, I just pray that justice is served. "Shandavs" sure knows a lot about this. Maybe the police need to go and interview her and see what she knows!!!

Swapmeet, I know you are a good person, but you dont have to be religious to be that. I have offered proof by stating subjects that you should read up on.

I was also once in your shoes but have now chosen to be who I am and plan to remain that way. I believe in love and have faith in myself and can stand on my own. When I am scared, sure it is hard not to turn to "The Savior", but considering I am a scientist, I just cannot foresee putting that in the hands of a "belief".

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on August 15, 2008 at 9:33 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I feel for the family here too. It must be really hard to lose someone that quick from something that probably could have been prevented.

But such is life, it is hard, but we just keep on going trying to remember the good times while also inventing them.

I appreciate the kind words Obama, but I am not a good person. Yes, people consider people good or bad in society's view, but in the sight of God, our righteousness' is but filthy rags (Isaiah). That's why Jesus asked the rich, young ruler, "why do you call me good? There are none good but God." I might seem good to others in society, but before I became born-again, I was wicked compared to the holiness of God and His law. That's why I needed to be born-again and have the impartation of the Holy Spirit in my life so I would be able to live a life pleasing to God and be acquitted when I stand in judgment.

Anyway, I know you have a hard time believing seeing you are a scientist. I understand that completely. It takes faith to be born-again, and I'm sure that's hard for you as a scientist. The one thing that might trip you up is saying "well I know the earth is "x" many years old, but according Bible scholars, the earth is only 6,000-8,000 years old. Well who's to say that the 7 days of creation were literal 24-hour days. There could have been thousands of years between those phases of creation. Well, I can't say much more. I know it sounds corny, but like the song says, "you ask me how I know He lives, He lives within my heart." That's the only way I can tell you that it's true. Because I've experienced it.

(obamayamama) you are about as much a scientist as the rest of us are astronaunts. Get a realistic occupation like maybe the writer of a gossip column or get a job working in a Dead Farm. Maybe you can find true meaning trying to help people understand death.
