McCain, Palin to visit region threatened by Gustav

Published Saturday, August 30, 2008

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Likely GOP presidential nominee John McCain and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, are traveling to Mississippi on Sunday to check on people getting prepared for Hurricane Gustav.

Their trip comes just as delegates are preparing for the Republican National Convention, which begins Monday.

Aides say McCain and his wife Cindy will join Palin in traveling to Jackson, Miss., Sunday at the invitation of Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour because of concerns about people threatened by the storm, which was heading into the Gulf of Mexico and menacing the same area ravaged by Hurricane Katrina three years ago. The storm could hit the United States as early as Monday afternoon.

The McCains and Palin will receive a briefing at the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency — a permanent operations center monitoring hurricane response.

Republicans are worried about holding their national convention during the storm.

If the storm's landfall is serious, McCain said he probably would rethink allowing the four-day political gathering to continue.

"It just wouldn't be appropriate to have a festive occasion while a near tragedy or a terrible challenge is presented in the form of a natural disaster," McCain said in an interview taped Saturday with "Fox News Sunday." ''So we're monitoring it from day to day, and I'm saying a few prayers, too."

President Bush was criticized after Katrina struck in August 2005 because he stuck to a schedule that took him from his ranch in Texas on a two-day trip to Arizona and California. There, he promoted a Medicare proposal while making just scant references to Katrina even as it slammed the Gulf Coast. Bush even happily strummed a guitar backstage at one event. He did not return to Washington until two days after the storm and did not visit the region until five days after.

The Bush White House was badly burned by its fumbling response after Katrina. Bush's image as a strong leader has never entirely rebounded, even though he has labored to improve on the Katrina performance.

how "presidential" to visit the state run by the former head of the republican national committee and a washington insider....hmmm, didn't mccain just criticize obama's berlin speech on the basis of it presumed to be too presidential.....

HMMM I guess, McCain isn't in another country. McCain will be right hear in the GREAT USA!!! and appear to be Presidential in this natural disaster when it does happen!!!.

If Obama is so smart, He should be worried about it also. I am yet to hear anything about him coming to the area!

This is just a photo-op for future campaign ads. I guess they need to add more to Palin's grand total of two political pictures in existence.

That schtuff ain't gonna stick. Palin has more executive experience than Obama has yet to dream about.

And? Bush had executive experience, too. Look how THAT turned out.

We've not been attacked again on American soil, I'm better off than I was when he took office, We've added some intelligence to the Supreme Court. Hmmm, I'm glad that I did stop and look at it.

Why isn't Obama going to visit?

On the other hand OGD we still haven't attacked Saudi Arabia or Jordan, the two countries the hijackers were from. And we haven't done much about the massive espionage network Israel operates in the US, unless the Patriot Act is really aimed at keeping them in check- much of the Patriot Act seems curiously to address concerns relevant to the Israeli phone records company AmDoc which should really be named IsDoc.

Not that I am for the other side either. Is the fact that you are better off now than 8 years ago due more to your effort or to the Bush Administration? Does having a tripled sized federal government that spent more in the last three years than all previous administrations factor into your feeling of well being?

WHY add a political diminsion to an already serious situation where state and local governments are already stretched ? oh yes, photo ops...

EnKiKur, Thanks for your interest. Actually my "better off" status is something that I would attribute to blessings. And my well being also. But always having a candidate/politician in office who was more to the right than his opponent is a plus. That means Bush over Kerry, Huckabee over McCain, McCain over Obama, etc.

Attack Saudi? You serious? I've been waiting for Pakistan.

I pose the question again...why isn't Obama going?

Posted by notfromnatchez (anonymous) on August 31, 2008 at 10:02 a.m. (Suggest removal)

People keep calling Sarah Palin a "token" candidate. So what would you call Obama?

A lot of people are saying they won't vote for only because she is a woman, but the same people are voting for Obama because he is black.

I used to be a democrat, but switched because of hypocrisy and the flip-flop mentality.

I saw the best bumper sticker the other day. It said: Tired of working. Vote Democrat.

That's about about right. Let's give everyone a hand out and not hold people accountable for their own lives.

What a bunch of crap. Macain is a joke, and his choice for VP IS A HOOT.You have to be a complete idiot to compare Obama to Palin. Experiene ???!!! what experience do she have?? being a soccar mom , or being a governor of a state of ALASKA( a place so out of touch with the states that the laws read like a funny paper, and the whole state itself don't get me wrong although the largest state have even less people than a major city within the USA)OR MAYBE it's her uncanny experience in stalking and using her power to unemploy ex-inlaws,,oh yeah and her experience in cooking MOOSE STEW. I often find the comments I read in here petty and pathetic but these are winners for sure. NotfromNtz no one is making you vote for Obama at all and I bet you if and when you actually do talk to people with brains they would tell you that more people are voting for OBAMA because he CAN do the work while MACSTAIN is expecting people to vote for Palin because she IS a WOMAN, and hoping it just might throw people away from the fact that he is just a BUSH CLONE. (but it won't)

Have you ever been to Alaska? Do you even know where it is? Probably not...you've probably never been out of MS or LA.

What experience does Obama have? No one has been able to answer that question.

I think it is funny that people are okay with someone with no experience running for PRESIDENT, but have a huge issue with someone with a little experience running for VICE PRESIDENT.

Sarah Palin got my vote as Governor and she will get it again for VP.

notfromNtZ,,if you are serious when you say no one can answer your question about OBAMA's experience, then I rest the case about the people who you are talking to. well I do have a brain so I am ending this back and forth because it has become apparent that just like the-bridge-to-nowhere project Palin agreed to and forgot about 2 years after,,this conversation too has become a bridge-to-NO WHERE.g'bye

No one is willing to answer that question and you are no different. Go ahead and hide behind all the promises made by Obama without giving a sound way of getting them done.

Speaking of experience, I have yet to hear where Hillary's supposed experience came from unless it was at the breakfast table for 8 years. I find it sad that of the women most capable of running for president, the one who had the biggest chance was the one who was riding on her husband's achievements. Its kinda obvious the Republican party is more open to the achievements of women like Palin and Condoleeza.

mike8427, Yep, I know where they came from. Do you want to bomb Saudi Arabia? Go ahead. See if I care.

I've lost faith in the left/right paradigm OGD. I truly believe there are two parties with one agenda, if you look at the speeches given by members of the parties to the various groups attended by members of both parties in common.

We live in a wacky world. Israel attacked the USS Liberty and for more than two hours torpedoed, strafed, and bombed the vessel and ended the attack by shooting up sailors in the water. A Russian ship offered aid on the scene. Did we ever seek any retaliation against Israel or offer Russia any thanks?

We worry about Muslim fanatics, but how many Israelis are in this country holding dual citizenship? Do any of them hold public office? I mean, other than in the Treasury Dept. or as directors of the Federal Reserve. And which of our two political parties is softer on aid to Israel than the other? They trip over themselves to show who Israel's true friend is. If there is one thing that may eventually drive me to accept environmentalism as the new religion it will be Israel's role in world affairs.

And for that matter, who originally funded and encouraged Islamic fundamentalism? In the beginning of this war on terror we were told two things: the fundamentalists hate our freedoms (this came from GW, and note, freedom is used as a non-specific term in regard to rights by our president: freedom is one of our rights), and that Al-Quaeda wanted the US out of Saudi Arabia. I want the US out of Saudi Arabia too, as I can't see anything other than unending war arising from our presence there.

Could our deal with Saudi Arabia be that we will buy their oil in return for protection for Israel and for allowing us to maintain bases there? Could that be what it is all about?

Brezenski's "THE GRAND CHESSBOARD - American Primacy And It's Geostrategic Imperatives," sets forth aims not fundamentally different than what the other side over at the Project for a New American Centurty. You might even say that "Rebuilding America's Defenses" was a way to enact Brezenski's schemes.

So, let's argue about which side has what minority and why and what experience when it should be obvious that American policy is not formed by political frontmen but by other forces. Let's not even question whether pursuing global domination is in our interest or if it is even feasible. Let's just keep voting for whichever half of the whole keeps us most happily incomplete, torn domestically and internationally.

Let's be honest now.

Palin was mayor of a town HALF THE SIZE OF YAZOO CITY, or LESS THAN HALF THE SIZE OF NATCHEZ. That is the only administrative term she has ever finished.

She has ONLY BEEN GOVERNOR FOR 2 YEARS, and her staff has already tried to have her sister's boyfriend fired because of a custody matter. Talk about petty corruption and not being able to control your staff!!!!!!

This woman didn't get a passport till last year and knows nothing of Washington. They will eat her like a hot wing.

She would never have been selected unless she was a woman, and then it was a bad politically motivated choice. To get elected McCain would have someone so inexperienced be his backup, and leave us holding the bag if he croaks in office. If that doesn't prove who the man is then you guys will never get it.

KATHLEEN BLANCO is more qualified to be president based on experience.

If Obama's vice president takes over we will have an experienced man. If Obama is not shot by some nut, then he will have a very experienced person to help run his team.

If McCain dies he will have appointed a small town mayor to be president, and she will be surrounded by people much smarter and more ruthless than her in her own party.

LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO GOVERNMENT UNDER BUSH. Cheney became president of foreign policy and wasted the military on an oil war that didn't work. The congress spent all the money in the cookie jar and the next president's cookie jar, too. You paid for all of that.

All those same guys tell you Obama has no plan because they know the people that support them won't check the facts -- and actually Obama has more of a plan that McCain.

Beware of politicians who say they dislike government but find themselves working for it. Odds are they are liars. 90 to 1 odds, too.

EnKik -- you are a detail sage, and all of us here who can read more than 125 words at a time know it, and appreciate your insight.

As one pedantic to another I have wondered about your detachment from any other than the unraveling of both parties and the system.

Agreed with you that the two parties are essentially equal at making bad government. I think if you let one side in for too long they become far more powerfully destructive. Their vices tend to become firmly woven into the fabric of culture.

My prescription is -- after a long administration by one party -- to install the other to expose and alter the errors of the last, not to ensure the world grows up in flowers and prosperity, but to slow the slide to hell.

Not that it matters as other than an intellectual isometric, but it seems that you would be pragmatist enough to throw in your two cents to tip the scale -- if for no other reason to have a chance to expose the crimes of the last monarch.

I would think that would further the goals your writing seems to champion.

Of course, I may have more faith in man's ability to learn than you do, silly me.

Why isn't Obama visiting-because he wasnt invited by the Republican Governor like McCain was, but I did see where officials in Louisiana invited Obama. Why would either candidate want to come to an area that is about to be blasted by bad weather? That's my question.

Posted by sayitloud (anonymous) on August 31, 2008 at 3:52 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Well my shock at the mere mention of Kathleen Blanco is because of her true ignorance she showed to her entire state after Katrina. Sarah Palin, if you knew her, is NO dummy. I believe she could take on Osama Bin Laden and come out smelling like a rose but don't jump on me...this is just my opinion OK? LEARN about her before making assumptions.

Posted by Yeahuhuh (anonymous) on August 31, 2008 at 5:07 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Sounds like her excellence is your assumption sayitloud, I just pointed out her lack of government leadership experience at this time. She sounds like a perfectly wonderful person otherwise.

I know it's a valid topic because before yesterday that was what everyone was saying about Barack. Now, being inexperienced doesn't seem to be an issue.

McCain's needed tactics for assaulting Obama is why I said it was a bad political move. McCain can no longer effectively go on about Barack's inexperience, since Barack's team now has so much more combined foreign affairs and national government experience.

That was a perfectly good point and McCain let the air out of his own tires by selecting someone with so very little government experience. The old man is just an anurism away from giving the presidency to the vice president, and that is a strategic military national security concern.

He wrecked a lot of planes, you know, and his own party though he was nuts half the time in Washington. He,he! We can't assume he is thinking straight.

Our country is going to hell in a hand basket, and don't even start blaming it on Bush. Our morals and ethics are at an all time low. We can ride around with vulgar music blaring out of our cars, have little or no respect for our fellow human beings, shoot whomever and be back on the streets before you can blink an eye. Most of us are like little spoiled brats wanting everything handed to us and not willing to work for it. Work, for God's sake, what is that? Hetro is out, homo is in; Kill a fetus, what the h#@l? It's going to take more than a president to bring "CHANGE"... We have young men and women fighting for our freedom so we can continue doing all the above, and at times I think most Americans are no longer patriotic.... We can sleep around and make babies like rabbits with whomever, and Uncle Sam is going to flip the bill. Well folks, Uncle Sam is BROKE, and taxing people to death ain't gonna fix the problem (NEWS FLASH)...... I'm anti big government, pro-life, and hope and pray more people will find God and start walking a straighter line---that will bring the CHANGE everyone is wanting so desperately... Until we start acting like civilized human beings, develop a concious, and are held accountable for our actions, expect more of the same. All of the name calling, finger pointing, and ridicule is accomplishing--what? Its time to quit playing the race card, and move on---its 2008 for gosh sakes..... I'm voting for the candidate who comes closest to sharing my "values" ---regardless of gender or race! I hope the good old USA wakes up, because common sense is on the verge of becoming extinct....

I still say that Palin has more executive experience than Obama or Hillary. Her experience is obviously on the short and limited end but the Democrat answer to that is what? I don't know what Biden did before his years in Congress so I won't go in that direction.

Vice Presidents are chosen to be capable and ready if something (Lord forbid) happens to the President, right? Wrong. They are chosen for the extra votes they can possibly bring to the ticket. And the news media has not been calling the selection of Palin a "master stroke" for nothing.

It appears Obama made a poor decision and McCain made a wise one. The truth will tell on election day. Either way I won't be pulling out my hair or threatening to move out of the country. Neither will I be found hating the next President.

Mississippi, grow up! Get past your bigotry and lame excuse for why you won't cast your vote for a Black man. Sarah palin's mother-in-law won't even vote for her!

You're going to have to live with it, because Barack Obama will certainly be the next President after Bill Clinton. What we have seen these last eight years is Captain Giggles, commander and chief of the Insane Asylum.

Chase, get your head out of your you know what... Thank God for "Captain Giggles". He is the reason we haven't been blown to bits. If President Bill Clinton could have kept his pants zipped up and not slept with every woman he encountered (wonderful moral character mind you, unless you come from a background that condones such behavior), and done his job by zeroing in on the creeps who attacked us, Nine Eleven probably would have never happened. (To be continued in a second letter)

I'll stick with the Captain Giggles of this world anyday of the week over a bunch who thinks taxing people to death to support the many who have been raised to be a bunch of lazy, moraless, unethical idiots who have a total lack of respect for their fellow man..... It's people like you that lash out with such stupid remarks that give the African American race a bad name. I vote for who shares my values and beliefs and is capable of running our country, not running it into the ground--- regardless if he or she is purple, green, black, Oriental, Indian, etc... (Get the picture). The race card has always got to be played doesn't it???? Grow Up Chase--- It's time for African Americans to quit using that as an excuse. Maybe 20 yrs. ago and longer it had a lot of meaning and carried some weight... It's 2008, and you can't keep blaming Mr. White for all your problems... You get an education, work hard to move up in this world regardless of color, ethnic background, etc... Mississippi has grown up for your information--- I am friends with several "white" folks who happen to be voting for Mr. Obama much to my disdain. It's not because he is black, its because he is Mr. Big Government, ultra liberal on all issues (Pro Choice/ Pro Gay Marriage). President Bush: a.k.a. Captain Giggles by you (which by the way shows you have a complete lack of respect for the President of the United States) is a fine human being regardless of what you think. If Obama becomes president, and I called him Captain Giggles---- I would be labled a racist, and tarred and feathered, or better yet, lynched.
But its fine and dandy for you to call our current president that--- and everyone looks the other way.... Not fair is it? What if we had WET TV to go along with BET? How about the White College Fund? Miss's White America? Ivory Magazine instead of Ebony? Historical White College's to go along with the Historical Black Colleges??? I can come up with many more examples if you'd like me to.... Talk about a double standard! I love ALL people (my parents raised me that way) and have many close friends from all walks of life, nationalities, colors, and religions--- but I am conservative politically which does not make me a racist. Mr. McCain and Mrs. Palin are my choices for the white house simply because they share my values for the most part. If Obama shared them as well, I would definitely consider voting for him. He is a great speaker, and has great delivery.... I will give him that much credit., and I won't sit here and call him disrespectful names like you did President Bush.... Shame on you! God Bless Our Country---because it sure needs all the blessings it can get with people like you walking around....

AMEN - Preach on getalife!

Posted by Yeahuhuh (anonymous) on September 1, 2008 at 11:08 a.m. (Suggest removal)

getalife, I 'll tell you a totally true story that may irritate you. But it is something I had to face in myself, so one southern white guy to another let me say this.

My people were good God-fearing people who said blacks were ok if they worked and didn't whine -- that was in the 60's when they had something to whine about. It just happened to be what whites have said about blacks since they became slave owners, but we didn't notice that fact at the time.

Socializing with blacks as a work activity was ok but anything more was not appropriate socially, and I honestly in my youth only met one white family that did not accept it to some degree.

My parents and their friends didn't call themselves racist -- but the thought of voting for the same people blacks voted for was UNTHINKABLE. And the stated reasons were economic. The concept of whites voting for John F. Kennedy was insane and traitorous.

Blacks who were culturally more black were looked down upon. Those that spoke of black pride or black issues were treated with contempt behind their backs, but simply and kindly snubbed to their face. They were the object of endless jokes with Budweiser and cigarettes around the booray table.

Later in life my father became more obsessed with hippies, radicals, communists, leftists, and liberals, who he lumped in with the "bad" blacks as the enemies of God. That, although my father wasn't much of a religious man otherwise until something happened to him shortly before death.

What happened to him was to realize something about the Holy Spirit that changed, in his mind, the actions of others from demonic to human. He became graced with the will to see more clearly why people took their positions, and at the same time he had more courage to face his own shortcomings. He became a lamb of God, and instead of worshipping Christ he came to act more Christlike. After that he talked about the good in people, even blacks, hippies and liberals.

You could have knocked the rest of us over with a feather. He said he had his hate removed, and that before his change he had no right to claim to be on God's side. He said God never needed any help in politics but the people who think he does cannot resist using Him to help themselves to power.

Watching my father's transformation changed the entire family. It is far closer to the work of God than anything I ever saw in a church or in politics. This may not address why you have the values you express, but I can't help but remember him when I read letters like yours above.

GOP platform on abstinence and education
September 2, 2008

Here is the portion of the Republican platform that deals with abstinence and education:

"We renew our call for replacing 'family planning' programs for teens with increased funding for abstinence education, which teaches abstinence until marriage as the responsible and expected standard of behavior. Abstinence from sexual activity is the only protection that is 100% effective against out-of-wedlock pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS when transmitted sexually.

"We oppose school-based clinics that provide referrals, counseling and related services for abortion and contraception. Schools should not ask children to answer offensive or intrusive personal nonacademic questionnaires without parental consent. It is not the role of the teacher or school administration to recommend or require the use of psychotropic medications that must be prescribed by a physician."

WOW....what a contradiction. That why is was a horrible idea for him to pick someone whom he'd only met once or twice. What other skeletons does she have?

I DON’T WANT A QUITTER AS MY PRESIDENT!!

John McCain QUIT on his first wife , ex-model Carol Shepp.
She was crippled while he was away and when he came back they both had some rehabilitating to do. Once he got better, John McCain admittedly cheated on her. He wouldn’t even wait for her to get better. Then, a couple of years later he asked her for a divorce so he could marry a new rich girl he had met several months earlier. This new woman, Cindy Lou Hensley, would go on to help finance his early campaigns.

I just can’t get over how he wouldn’t stick it out with his first wife. Did he not take vows, “for better or worse?” . I’m sure I share the thoughts of those who probably felt that he quit on them. Not just Carol Shepp, BUT THE CHILDREN TOO. Couldn’t he have stayed around for them? Since only one of them was his biologically, I guess that made it easier for him to let go. It should also be noted that his children were so bitter that they didn’t forgive their father for several years

John McCain QUIT on the American people when he sought to assist the Keating Five. He was one of five senators called on personally by Charles Keating to save the failing Lincoln savings. He obliged and made more than one attempt to save Lincoln and Keating. He later belatedly repaid donations made to him from Lincoln and Keating. This scandal cost Americas tax payers almost 200 billion dollars. He was brought before senate ethics committee who later cleared him but rebuked him for “poor judgment”. Remember, three of the other senators had the careers cut short by this, but they let John McCain and John Glenn skate.

John McCain QUIT on the African American Community when he opposed the celebration of MLK birthday for seven years before admitting he was wrong.

John McCain QUIT on the POWs in Vietnam.
The belief by many POW/MIA was that there were POW left there in large numbers. McCain investigated and reported that there was no evidence that proves that POWs still existed in Vietnam. After his recordings of these findings, Vietnam had their relations normalized with the U.S. within two years. This action caused him to be vilified by many POW/MIA activists.

Why is McCain receiving so many props for his time in the military anyway? Don’t get me wrong, I am sympathetic to his plight while serving time as a POW. That was a horrible ordeal and my heart goes out to him and all other former and current POW. I am sure that this is something that will psychologically affect him for the rest of his life. Hopefully, he has received all the mental treatment he will need to run this country. Hopefully, he won’t use a platform as such to get even with a past enemy. Hopefully, he is psychologically and physically capable to perform all the tasks needed and keep a sharp mental attitude at this age, especially after so much torture early in his life.

I guess we are supposed to give John McCain some type of veteran’s allowance like in a contract bid where veterans and minorities sometimes get special considerations.
Maybe, it is a fact that any type of jail gives you some type of O-G pass. I guess it’s like when the rappers and gangsters brag about being shot or in jail while representing for the hood. They are looked at as harder, or OG.

I am not even so sure about his character and integrity either. I mean even though he did refuse at first (allegedly), he later participated in creating anti-American propaganda as a condition to be released while a POW. So, eventually, he QUIT resisting that too.

He actually was never a good student in the naval academy. Known as a party guy, he finished 894 of 899 in his class. He was a screw-up and was also present when 134 soldiers were killed when there was an explosion on board a ship (Forrestal), where he was involved in some type of dissatisfaction with their command. He was even on record calling his commanders complete idiots. I don’t believe this contributed to the fire, but is worth mentioning to show his pattern of disobedience. He was on the bombing unit and that’s where the problem was in that accident. Maybe their non-committed attitude to command contributed to this negligence. He subsequently transferred to another ship where he was later shot down.

POT CALLING KETTLE BLACK

Everyone who is still talking about Rev Wright, don’t forget this either.

The televangelist, San Antonio megachurch leader John Hagee, has
referred to the Roman Catholic Church as "the great whore" and called it a
"false cult system" and "the apostate church"; the word "apostate" means
someone who has forsaken his religion.
He also has linked Adolf Hitler to the Catholic Church, suggesting it
helped shape his anti-Semitism.
"What he holds about Catholicism in my mind is despicable," said the Rev.
James Heft, religion professor at the University of Southern California. "I
totally reject Hagee's view of Catholicism, but I don't know how widely
known it is."
McCain's response to the controversy has been tepid, Heft said.
Following two days of criticism, McCain issued a statement saying only that
he doesn't agree with everything Hagee says.
"In no way did I intend for his endorsement to suggest that I in turn
agree with all of Pastor Hagee's views, which I obviously do not," McCain
said. Before issuing the statement, he told reporters he was "proud" of
Hagee's spiritual leadership of his congregation.

Damn.....if it aint one thing its another. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOP vice presidential candidate, is being represented by an attorney in the investigation into the firing of her public safety commissioner.

The Legislature is investigating whether Palin fired public safety commissioner Walt Monegan after he refused to fire a state trooper who had divorced Palin's sister.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are some provocative photos to come out at this rate ......I guarantee there will be some type of settlement to get him out the way. Or maybe they will make him look so bad that he will go away.

IS THIS REALLY A MAVERICK OR A BULLY.

Those are good points blogfather.

I used to like John McCain as a maverick, but when he had to flip over to get elected, I lost my respect for him. Truth is he voted for Bush policies 95% of the time, anyway.

I do wonder about him based on one of his first presidential acts, the selection of a running mate. Let's not forget that due to his age and health status as a cancer survivor, this is who he picked as our unelected president to succeed him on the high chance he dies in office. He's a bigger fool than I ever thought.

You just have to wonder about a man who would pick someone so inexperienced, under investigation for such a blatant inability to control her staff, and with the problems in her family. Then try to lie and spin to trump up her qualifications. The man can't lie good enough to be president.

Like Carville said about her record, her mayoral office looked like a bait stand in South Louisiana. For our unelected PRESIDENT???

More misinformation from the Dems...Palin fired the Public Safety Commissioner after he refused to fire, suspend or even investigate the ex-husband in question after he tazed his adolescent stepson for trying to protect his mom.

I have to wonder how all those who commented negatively on Brittney Spears little sister Jamie Lynn getting pregnant feel now about Palin's 17 year old pregnant unmarried daughter? Now both Palin's daughter and Jaimie Lynn are elligible for pell grants and other assistance while many other American girls won't be because they didn't get pregnant.

Secret service just for Palin's kids will cost a fortune.

I can not believe how people are so divided in our country. Instead of everybody uniting together to make our country stronger, we have let partisan politics rip this great country of ours in two. Did the republicans crash the demo. primary cussing, fighting, harrassing, vandalizing whatever or whoever they could get their hands on in Denver? I don't think so..... Actions speak louder than words...... The majority of Dems. I know are radical, in your face, belligerent, and bitter... They want BIG government, free everthing---and expect whoever has drive-- to work their butts off to support them. Quit the whining and expecting handouts.... Quit blaming everyone for your problems... You get out of life what you put into it..... As far as peace007 is concerned, our system is screwed up to compensate/ reward young ladies (if you want to call them that) who are basically babies having babies... If the mama is old enough to make one, she should be held accoutable for her actions and not handed everything to her on a silver platter. Whatever happend to getting married and then starting a family?
