I was there and saw no Ferriday police while on the roads. All I can say is if you missed the opening of the ARCADE you missed a good time. We had a good dedication and reception. Mickey Gilly sang four or five songs on stage. They have a very nice building.
I have gone thru Ferriday several times in the last 6 months....Never been stopped...As long as u OBEY the speed zones and have ur seat belt buckled...you won't have a problem!!!!
NOT really true. My cousin got three tickets in the same day. she saw the cop when she was stopping at a stop sign and he pulled her over. she asked why and he told her her hub cap moved a little when she stopped so she got a ticket for not stopping??? WTF???? will be glad when glen gets back in office. till then i try not to go through or i go around.
A comment to all of you that thinks Ferriday is such a bad place. Just don't come through the town and you won't have a problem. I'm sure this theater will survive without your attendance. As for momoftwokids, I wonder why your cousin received 3 tickets in one day?? Hmm...I bet she was doing something that caused her to get the tickets. Yes I do believe that the police sometimes abuse their job by handing out tickets constantly but sometimes they do hand out tickets that are worth handing out to those who are breaking a law. In the four years that Gene has been in office I have only received 1 ticket and I can honestly say that I was speeding and the ticket was necessary. I couldn't argue with the office because I was speeding. I travel through town a lot and don't have any problems whatsoever with getting pulled over.
Fonkeytowngirl it is usually the people from out of town..So withy ou living there you more than likely wouldn't have a problem. Want a problem put you a Mississippi tag on your vehicle....
People used to say the very same things about Fayette Miss. Do you see what it looks like today? They are trying to change their image, but they used to have the very same problems( police with bad attitudes, drug dealers running amuck, prostitutes on the corners,etc....) You could not drive through town with out of county plates, much less out of state plates on your vehicle. But NOw, They have worked hard to change the image and are on the slow road to recovery. It has taken them years to correct the problems. Ferriday should start now before it gets any more out of hand and start the road to change. That is what we are saying here.
Ferriday needs to work on cleaning up the empty lots, changing the image of its police force and working with the working class people to rid the problem criminals out of the neighborhoods.
We are not against the working class people trying to pick up the town by the bootstraps and starting over. We are against hoodlums, whether they have a uniform or a knife and mask, taking what we have worked hard for and wasting it.
I am very proud of Ferriday. Every town/city has its problems. I am so happy that Glen has been given another opportunity to refashion Ferriday back into the great place of wonderful memories it used to be. We CAN come back. We WILL! I don't live in Ferriday anymore...but my heart is there.
I have already been there, oh right that was before they destroyed the original and erected this bad excuse of a clone. Nope want be going there, ever.
How wonderful that Ferriday is bringing life to the old Arcade! I went to the movies there 20 years ago and was sad it was all boarded up in recent years and the street was mostly abandoned. Instead of belly-aching about Ferriday, be part of the solution and support your surroundings. Belly-aching never solves anything. If you have to drive extra slowly, then drive extra slowly. Positive support makes for positive results.

If Louisiana needed a colonoscopy done Randy Tillman would insert the scope in Ferriday.

Sherrie, I hope it does. I remember it from my time as a teen and really liked it over there. But the last time I drove through, I was almost sick.
