granning

Jake has what it takes to turn this town around. Jake '08 all the way.

What experience does Granning have? He's only helping the next generation of Blue Hairs to get back at Jake.
Now that's not having a good reason to put our City at risk for another 4yrs. with West.

Accomplishments, and not "hopes and dreams", will determine my vote.

I wish Middelton's website told more about what he wanted to do for natchez...I looked at middelton's and west's website yesterday it looked like a popularity thing more than a person running for mayor

Yes I know who, NO ONE because I live in the county and can't vote. HOWEVER, if I could I would definitely vote for JAKE '08!!!!

I agree Fire...what exactly are Middletons plans?
He is POPULAR, but will he REALLY help?
I know West needs to go, I just wish I beleived in Middleton More.
At the meeting last night, he seemed to pass the buck when asked questions, and that worries me.
I don't know what to do yet.
It's between Middleton and Graning for me.

I was really impressed with Mayor West last night at the forum. I can't think of a person who could have done a better job with the issues that Mayor West has had to face. I hate to say it, but this is one Republican who will vote Democrat this time.

Natcheznat99...Mayor West has a knack for impressing when there is a need. Please don't be gullible. Choose wisely. As much as I like Granning personally, I really feel he's running to split the vote and assure West of another four years. We've waited four years for a change and it's time.

brod, Now how do you reckon Granning can split the vote?

Posted by snatchez (anonymous) on April 11, 2008 at 6:09 p.m. (Suggest removal)

what has West done wrong. He has not spent any money. Jake has been on the board for 20 years and what has he done. No money spent by West. No intermodal no convention center, no buses. Beside the alderman run the city not the mayor. Ok. he tore down a piece of trash building.

I far as I can see there is so much going on and before West, this place had died. I've got to vote for him also.

Oldgranddad, please forgive me if I have offended you. it's nothing personal regarding granning, i really like him as well as his family. What I meant was, either one candidate or two, otherwise the votes will be seriously split. It's happened before. It's a free country, vote your conscience. Best of luck to all the candidates.

Posted by OldGrandDad (anonymous) on April 11, 2008 at 7:52 p.m. (Suggest removal)

brod, I ain't offended. I just don't see how people can say the vote will be split. The primary (Democrat) will determine the candidate to be West or Middleton. Then the winner will face Granning who is running as an independent. If a Republican or other independent was in the race, there would be a split vote. But the mayor's election will be a one-on-one and then another one-on-one.

Natchez citizens need to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Vote Middleton in the first "Run"! Then you have a choice in the second "Run"

Posted by snatchez (anonymous) on April 11, 2008 at 8:37 p.m. (Suggest removal)

oldgranddad, you got it wrong. democrats run first, then face the independent in the final. no republican running. Vote West and keep the town in racial harmony. what has Middleton done in 20 years in office.

Posted by OldGrandDad (anonymous) on April 11, 2008 at 8:50 p.m. (Suggest removal)

snatchez, Somehow i can't help but feel that you did not read my post properly. Yes, Democrats run first and are running even now with absentee ballots. Yes, no Republican running. But there are 2 elections for mayor - democrat against democrat and then later, democrat against independent (Granning).

Once again the Republicans lose because they fielded no candidate.

Snatchez what is this suppose to mean "Vote West and keep the town in racial harmony"

Please do explain....

Posted by callinitlikeitis (anonymous) on April 12, 2008 at 10:40 a.m. (Suggest removal)

NO VOTES FOR WEST !!!! no more FAYETTE/PORT GIBSON similarities for Natchez!

we need some FRESH, CREATIVE & INNOVATIVE actions accomplished in our town of Natchez.

it is WAY OVER DUE.

Posted by hitormiss (anonymous) on April 12, 2008 at 11:13 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Fresh, creative & innovative that is exactly how downtown has been turned around. Thanks to Mayor West

Posted by kpage (anonymous) on April 12, 2008 at 12:56 p.m. (Suggest removal)

All the pretty bows and buttons that make Natchez classy are not due to the current mayor's accomplishments. You can tip your hat to the Byrne and Brown administrations for that.

Racial harmony? Uhhhhhhh....OK.

A mayor who's never available is wasting the taxpayers money. A mayor who makes up the rules as he goes along is self-serving. A mayor who strictly votes along racial lines is a separatist. Need I say more?

Not West! He could be mayor of New Orleans though! Just get the hell out of here!

Posted by peachpit (anonymous) on April 12, 2008 at 4:23 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Are West and Gene Allen kin?

Posted by sparky018 (anonymous) on April 12, 2008 at 4:36 p.m. (Suggest removal)

They are sisters!

Posted by hitormiss (anonymous) on April 12, 2008 at 6:34 p.m. (Suggest removal)

kpage,
The new economic development is due to the efforts of the current administration. Where do you get that the Mayor is not available? This Mayor unlike others, does not seem to be doing things that benefit himself.
What about what he did for Judge Pickering? Is that the action of a separatist?

Just what I thought. You can't offer any substance to what you are saying.
