Isn't that a shame? The better the event, the more it takes to get in the door. So no, I have not attended the musical events nor the intellectual ones...I simply can't afford these luxuries at this time of my life...gimme three more years...but then I probably won't have time then!
Natchez doesn't need a Music Festival, or the retirees who move here for the Festival. Ferriday doesn't have any fine arts, and it does fine. Ferriday is, as Ferriday does.
Lambchop the music festival has many free events - Concerts in the park, a free cover cast concert and an outreach program for the schools. Tickets to some concerts are only $20 - pretty cheap for live music from professional singers! (Opera and Broadway shows are only $25) Tomorrow you can see Cosi Fan Tutte and get seats for $25 - or a mere $22.50 each if you come with 9 friends!
Cosi Fan Tutte??? what is that? see that is not WHAT 'WE TYPE PEOPLE' would want to spend our 25 bucks on to see!!
NOW ON THE OTHER HAND.... BRING IN RASCAL FLATTS, SUGARLAND, TAYLOR SWIFT, JAKE OWENS, KELLY PICKLER, (I'M just throwing names out there) AND I GARUTNEE YOU OUR MONEY WILL BE SPENT!!!!!!
GET SOME ONE OR SOMETHING IN THERE THAT WE THINK IS WORTH SPENDING OUR MONEY ON AND IT'S ON!
iggnorant is whut u r? - Ever tried it? - ever made an attempt to hear Opera sung live - the Festival holds several free concerts, try it. I like country music too, I also like punk, alternative, R&B, Jazz and Rock. Music sets the mood a tone and a place. Opera when done well can be a magical experience. You don't even have to understand a word they say! - just listen and feel it - be amazed that a human can make that sound. It is fun - Natchez is lucky to have this festival, it is a shame so many locals don't take a risk and try it.
I added a question mark --- The music festival brings a diverse array of music to Natchez. If Buttercup wants country go to any bar in Natchez. If you want opera you can only see it twice a year in Jackson or you have to go to Texas, New York of far off places. Natchez is the only place in the South that does not hire a traveling Opera Company, but auditions, hires and stages operas and musicals just for the festival. Natchez has proved to be an important stepping stone for young singers who want a career on stage. Congratulations David I will see you tonight.
((natchez1)) 'WHUT' (haha i thought i was the ignorant one.. WHAT is the right way to ask haha) now let me get back to my comment what it IGGORANT ((in my personal opinion)) is some one 'RISKING {HAS YOU SAY} 25 bucks on something they would not have a clue on!! 'RISKING' 25 bucks is a big gamble these days! i have to risk my 25 bucks in gas and make sure it gets me a least a quarter tank of gas... NOW THAT IS WHAT 'SIMPLE FOLK' AS MYSELF WOULD 'RISK' MY MONEY ON... well that and some sexy A$$ RASCAL FLATTS!! HAHA ;)
Could you not have just answered her question? Wouldn't that have been the thing to do being you are all for TOURIST and she is from out of town? You could have just said it is opera buttercup....But no you have to call someone iggnorant. Yea that should bring in some tourist...
Oh yeah, I've heard opera and you can give me Rascal Flatts anytime! How about Josh Turner - LOVE that voice. And no Natchez1 you cannot hear these performers anytime in any bar in Natchez. Professionals like thesecost money too, but at least I understand what they are saying. Plus they wear these really tight jeans - LOL. However I do like musicals, and if I had the energy, time and money, I like to go to the Little Theatre. Oklahoma was great.
((fire39212)) thank you for handling up on my slack.. lol don't worry my ignorant tourist butt will be in NATCHEZ MANY TIMES THORUGH OUT MY LIFE no matter what type of 'opera' they got going on ( i'll just find one them bars and party to something i can understand!! :)
((free)) OMG!!!! that voice of josh turners!! doesn't it make you want to melt????? omg!!! haha it is sooooo SEXY!!

The high price of gas keeps us home.

It is not the gas but the price of tickets to some of the events, a little steep for a limited income household. I have enjoyed in the past, though.
