In my opinion, the school board and superintendent should be elected and not appointed.

Of course, the Natchez-Adams School District should allow public comment. It's the public's children who attends the schools. That shouldn't even be a question.

Sounds like the school district has a lot to hide or be ashamed of if they don't want public input. They are either sitting on their high horse or ashamed of what they have made of the system. Secrets have a way of corrupting everything.

If Concordia Parish told me I couldn't speak at a board meeting about an issue concerning my child, I'd be as mad as a wet hen! Thank goodness this is not a problem over here. Like I've said concerning Adams County...it's either shame or self-righteousness. If not, then what is their excuse...too many concerned parents showing up? Got something too big to chew on?

Something has to be done immediately.

Education is the key to attracting business, money and opportunity.

Education is the key to our entire future. Not just economically, but physically, emotionally, spiritually, patriotically and all other aspects of our daily lives. We need decent education and the best education for our children. They deserve it.

Yes i just wish Concordia was the same and they'd be getting many complaints from me!

Understanding un-elected and un-responsive school boards:

"President Bush's "No Child Left Behind" could be referred to as "No American Left Alone" since what we are looking at is what the National Alliance of Business, which supports "planned economy," refers to as Kindergarten through Age 80 Education/Training. This is basically the United Nations Lifelong Learning-Brainwashing Agenda under the umbrella of what will eventually be "unelected" school and community councils"

Out of 43,200 minutes in a month 15 minutes of public comment is very generous. The public must be sure to genuflect and remember to back from the room after speaking to the Board; it is disrespectful to show one's backside to Royalty.

It will be interesting to just have the board members listen to parents and interested persons. They should also listen to the teachers who are in the classroom daily. Teachers need support of administration and parents. Parents need to be as involved as they can and take an active part in the children's educational process.

Bring back discipline (not corporal punishment) but a way to make the child obey the teacher in being respectful. Yes ma'm, no sir. May I? Raise the hand and be addressed by the teacher in a voice that is not bad in language or action. The teacher needs to be able to go to the Office and know he/she will be listened to without repercussions by administration.

Administration needs to personally visit the classroom and spend time in listening in the classroom -- more than a one-time visit. Pop in and see the students in action and especially in those classes where problems have occurred.

Visit Robert Lewis Middle School and this is one school with problems.
