What does it matter if it's near wal-mart? Vidalia is trying to do something for the kids. Natchez should take note and try and follow suit.....

Sure if you want a lot of kids there with no parents!! I mean some of these parents would think it was the perfect place to drop kids off while shopping!! Although im sure that was discussed!! What a great place for a petifile to hang out he can have the whole walmart and then some extra!! I did a paper at college two years ago on where kids are taken from and a huge precent was parks, and walmart, then airports. Think about it!!

Well opinsab if a parent is going to leave there child to go to wal mart it wouldn't matter where it was at.....Wouldn't that be a very awful parent to do such a thing??? Wouldn't they be able to arrest a parent for such a thing???

As far as a petifile there are even in churches....

fire, great return, and any parent that puts their child in a dangerous situation should face criminal charges. It's a huge responsibllty to be a parent now-a-days. Some don't care. And I agree with you, I was molested by a minister and my son by a decon. You can find them everywhere, even in family members. Horrible sickos and this is where that isolated island would come in handy. Ship'em there and forget'em. Wouldn't that be great. They don't deserve to live in our free society.

Pedophile's are EVERYWHERE! I'm sure everyone has read about the little girl in Vermont. It was her convicted child molestor uncle that killed her. Her stepdad was also involved in the child sex ring they were getting her into. You can't trust anyone with you children anymore.
When I was growing up it was manners to call your parent's friends aunt & uncle but now it's usually "aunts & uncles" that are the ones to worry about.
Look up your neighborhood sex offender's & be aware of who & where they are & warn your children. You will be surprised at the ones on your street.
The police are suppose to contact neighbors when one moves in, but they don't do it until a few weeks. We had one on our street & he had made the rounds of becoming friends with the kids when we were contacted. The police told us we didn't have anything to worry about as long as he took his medicine. Like we should know when he took it. Thankfully he is gone now!
Now if this new center is closely monitored MAYBE the kids will be safe but still we can't take chances.
The main thing is to teach our children what to do in case they are abducted & never trust anyone completely.
These low life people have stolen the freedom & innonces of our children.

One word...distraction.

"didn't think it mattered" or "don't think it matters". Either way.

"didn't think it matters" is not right. Not trying to be nit-picky. I never say anything about posters' grammar, but if the ND wants to be respected in journalism across the gulf region, they really need to proofread their work.

What POLITICIANS and there families OWN THE LAND?
Why BUY land SO FAR from the children????
It may be better suited for commercial.

What do you mean Bonzo? We live in the parish and the current fields used aren't close to us. Do you think the new location is an convienence for the kids inside the city limits?

As for the land it was not owned by a politician or their families.

fire, many years ago when my son was playing ball, his team built a backstop and practiced in our pasture. A few years later a group asked if they could use it for practice for a team of 10 yr olds and we said sure. Before I knew it I had kids chasing the horses, playing in my fish pond (in my fenced in yard) and swinging over the gully on the rope swing. None of these kids were on the team, they had been dropped off with little brother so mom could "run errands". I think the worst one though was the dad who did stay with his kid, but used my pasture to practice his golf swing - toward my house and barn. One season was enough.

Pedophiles are everywhere. I've been out to put one behide bars for nearly two years now. Come to find out this person was known to be a pedoghile and had been at it for years. No parent had ever stood up for their kids before. (Lawfully anyway) It takes to much to get these perverts off the streets and out of our ballparks, parking lots and what-not.
If this kind of person get into your kids head it is nearly inrepairable.
Hopefully our new Police Chief will come down hard on this kind of perversity and not shy away in the political spotlight. Sheriff included.
Pedophilia is a BIG problem at home folks! And sometimes the best laid plans backfire. Stand-Up for our children and don't ever give up. Never give up. We'll get-em!

hmmm is right, and they are probably still don't understand why I said no the next year. And for those wondering, yes I did talk to the coach about the situation, but he said he couldn't control what the parents did.

No, because it should be away from any stores. How is the concession stand gonna make money to pay all the umpires, scorekeepers etc. Most all your tournament places are way out in the sticks. But we don't have a say in what they buy or where they buy.

It's not going to be a neighborhood play park. No one should be dropped off. It will be a sports complex that will be used for a lot more than an afternoon on the merry-go-round. I think that the present ballpark area should be turned into a neighborhood park with swings and basketball courts. The baseball and tennis are already there. The rec. building could be used for family get together and birthday parties. The covered area for BBQ's and such. (Am I Dreaming?)
