My truck gets 17 mpg on the highway, but killing the engine and costing down hills, should increase the figure...lol...how embarrassing I get at the signal lights, with the start of the engine!

I've got an old truck too. I can put $20 in and it's gone before I know it! I'm probably going to be looking for another type of vehicle sooner or later. It's killing me each month with the way gas prices are now.

I use my truck for work. Hauling material and tools to jobsites is not something for an electric car. I get about 15-16 mpg.

I use my truck for work only, the car gets the highway driving. I hate seeing people that buy trucks only to look cool. Most trucks today never see any work.

What vehicle would people suggest going to? I am looking at a Kia mini van but don't know much about it. I would like to stay with a van or maybe one of those crossover vehicles? What say ye?

My daughter has a kia car if the vans are anything like the cars they are GREAT!!!

Our trucks get pretty good around 20 or 21 mpg...

i drive a suv. Not for looks, to be cool or anything else. in fact it is a 2001, but it is paid for...Get's about 20 -21 miles to the gallon. It is a 4-wheel drive too. I drive it because I feel safe in it. When I hit little water puddles in road it stays true. I felt very unsafe in driving the sports car I had.
Safety first....Feel like I want get as smushed if I have a wreck or someone hits me.

My suv is paid for, runs good, looks crappy - but hey, it's a work vehicle towing a trailer! We also have a small truck, also for work, and a big giantic brand new truck which runs on diesel. That one is my husbands and he gets 20 miles to a gallon in it!

My truck has tow package and 3 tool boxes on it. It has scratches all over. I bought it new in 1996 and the truck has the original motor at 290,000 miles. But, I have put 6 transmissions in it. I do not plan on buying another one till the wheels fall off twice...lol...If they fall off the first time, I am going to put them back on and drive it till they fall off again.

Gotta Chrysler Sebring that I'm in love with...mileage is good, rides well, looks good, the note sucks, insurance is high, but I just love the heck out of it. It's new, but it sits more than it rolls, thanks to four dollar gas.

Hahahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaredusmfan. Gotcha a work beater, huh? Or do you make your wife drive it? Hahahaaa.

Y'all have a nice weekend. No matter what you drive, be safe!

kpage, I use it for working. It is not a happy go lucky ride around town and look cool vehicle. My wife does drive it when she needs to haul something like furniture or lawn stuff, but otherwise she drives another vehicle. I bought the truck brand new in 1996 and use it to work out of now. In 1996, it was a cool truck, extended cab, air conditioning, cloth seats, carpet cd player, 2 tone paint, cruise and the works. Now, it is just my old truck and will be as long as it runs.

I drive a dodge stratus. I have to fill up about every 2 wks. And thats me driving at least 25 miles back and forth to work everyday. Not to mention my other stops. I believe its not all bout what u drive but how u drive. I usually keep it bout 55 on the highway and I don't try to hurry up and get to the next red light. If you know what i mean.

It won,t be much longer...and it won,t matter what you drive, you will spend all your money on the light bill, water, and food, that is IF you can afford it. Checkers anyone???

Read this article and see who gets FREE gas CARDS. Our hard earned taxes at work again,Course most of our politicians fill up at the govment pump anyway,by some hook and crook they never pay for their fuel. This is a true story, just ask someone that really knows the SYSTEM
Course sammahon or whoever they were said it,s just a small percent so it,s not worth the trouble to worry about.

Letter by a Florida teacher................ A teacher speaks

This is a subject close to my heart. Do you know that we have adult students at the school where I teach who are not US citizens and who get the PELL grant, which is a federal grant (no pay back required) plus other federal grants to go to school?

One student from the Dominican Republic told me that she didn't want me to find a job for her after she finished my program, because she was getting housing from our housing department and she was getting a PELL grant which paid for her total tuition and books, plus money leftover.

She was looking into WAIT which gives students a CREDIT CARD for gas to come to school, and into CARIBE which is a special program (check it out - I did) for immigrants and it pays for child care and all sorts of needs while they go to school or training. The one student I just mentioned told me she was not going to be a US Citizen because she plans to return to the Dominican Republic someday and that she 'loves HER country.'

I asked her if she felt guilty taking what the US is giving her and then not even bothering to become a citizen and she told me that it doesn't bother her, because that is what the money is there for!

I asked the CARIBE administration about their program and if you ARE a US Citizen, you don't qualify for their program. And all the while, I am working a full day, my son-in-law works more than 60 hours a week, and everyone in my family works and pays for our education.

Something is wrong here. I am sorry but after hearing they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish - enough is enough. Nowhere did they sing it in Italian, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German or any other language because of immigration. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation -- not even close. Sorry if this offends anyone but this is MY COUNTRY.

IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY SPEAK UP -- please pass this along. I am not against immigration -- just come through like everyone else.

Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past -- and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

This is scary stuff because so many people do not see what is going on. If the Democrats win in November and pass their programs(benefits for illegals including Social Security and health benefits) they will go to the same source they always use...taxes and especially gas taxes. The gas prices will just keep rising to pay for the give-aways it takes to get them elected. Do the research and you will see I am right. The government gets more dollars from gas than the investors do.

frogprincenessntz, are you crazy? Bush and Chaney are reaping the harvest for all the gas taxes, killing our children and you, with the high prices even for food. ARE THEY DEMOCRATS?
