Mrs. O'Beirne your letter speaks loud and clear. I cannot imagine anyone saying it is ok to let a baby who survived an abortion lay on a cold table to die. However, it must be the same cold hearted individuals who abuse their children physically and emotionally. It breaks my heart to know there are truly unloved children in this world. My child is such a wonderful gift from God and I truly treasure my gift. How can we believe a leader will take care in leading us if he will not protect those tiny babies who cannot take care of themselves?

eagle1 - largest cuts - well we probably can start with cutting attendance at the black mayors convention and black cacucus conferences that mayor west went to while in office. what other cuts do you know he made. i would like to know.

also, eagle1, middleton has been in office for many years. why didn't he try to impose smaller cuts in the past? he is just coming in and trying to be a big shot. when are we getting our free water he promised?

eagle1 I would gladly pay higher taxes for the betterment of our community. maybe they have not cut anyone but there are employees who should get raises and the library definitely deserves more funding. eagle1, I give to this community more than you can imagine -- do you ever volunteer your time for events, etc. you know things going on in Natchez? Read why don't I - believe me I do. I work with a budget in my job and have not increased our spending and so far it has been working. I was trying to say that 5% cut would probably be next to impossible; I could understand no increase.

if middleton wants a 5% decrease from each department why didn't he start off by decreasing his salary and the salaries of the alderpersons? they make all the decisions for our city and most of them have a primary income if not all of them. why cut the people who are working for their bread and butter? with gas prices as they are and food costs it is extremely hard for these people to make ends meet. I wish I could make their salary for the hours they truly put in and have another full time job too.

I think we just got news from the BOD that they were decreasing our taxes and saving us $100 per household? Unless they put the $100 in my hand I don't believe I will feel it but if they left all that money for cushion that would be a great contribution on the county's part for recreation. I live in the city so I pay both city and county taxes and I would not mind that money going to something for the children of Natchez.

congratulations Julie and Kevin. I am counting on the powers that be to leave ya'll in Natchez forever. I am a fan of both of you and I think it is great that ya'll are in high positions with your company and they did not try to push one of you out of your job. If more companies realized the strength, loyalty, and hard work they could get from a married couple you might see more. Kudos to the owners of the newspaper, and I thank them that we have ya'll.

i must be one of the lucky people in natchez. i have a great doctor here and i do have a specialist out of town because i have an incurable disease. I have had much success with the care I have had here in Natchez and maybe it has to do with the fact that I take care of myself and try to do what my doctor tells me. I could have many many problems as a result of this disease. my recent stay at NRMC was for a typically common procedure and the staff were all very pleasant. Personally, I was glad to be somewhere that I was known and not a stranger to everyone as I would have been if I had gone out of town for this procedure. No matter where you go, if you have an unpleasant experience you would probably complain about that doctor, nurse, or facility.

Natchez has had the same problem for many years with shop owners not being opened on Saturdays and Sundays when tourist are in town, the closed for lunch is not one I have personally experienced but hopefully this shop owner never complains about locals not supporting his/her business. Lunch time to me would be 11:00-2:00 and a very important time of day to be open. Owning a business takes a great deal of sacrifice and dedication. Bringing a lunch would certainly help the business.

I went all 3 days and it was great. I do agree that $10 is high for parking but if you want to park close and someone has a personal lot then you go with the price of demand. We parked downtown and enjoyed the walk. The walk was kind of festive in its own. Anyone who was volunteering knows just how important it is to have a crowd. For those who think it was too expensive, maybe you could start collecting coins in a jar at home and I bet you would have more than enough to have fun next year. Great job GMRBR committee. I for one appreciate your hard work and dedication to this wonderful festival.
