the man has done more for jackson than His predecessor ever did in his what was it like 4 terms. Why do all Black people hate someone especially if they are black when they get in a position of power to help them. I am not being racist by this statement it is just an observation. He can't clean up the city without the support of his constituents. so why don't you support him and get off your but and do something.

ah because "people" knew their place in society. The United States is a union of unholy states. Everything is about the me in America not others (Although some do help others). Americans seek the expedient way to things in life. I feel as though the "True" AMerican spirit/dream/life has been lost in this decade and probably began in the late 60s.

just because you went to iraq doesn't mean you can slander the character of others. And everyone else just because you are who you are and did not go to iraq does not give you any right to slander him either. The war was wrong. It was an invasion against a sovereign nation. Bush could not present any factual evidence to substantiate his baseless claims that lacked any authenticity.
If we talk to the Middle East countries rather than exert a force on them we might be able to bring some placidity to the region.

Yo Redchief! We cannot live in the past forever or we too shall succumb to the past. The future shall pass us over. There is nothing wrong in appreciating the past, certainly not, but there hides a certain deathly quality in letting the care and development of the past dictate the abilities, capabilities, development, and execution of the future.
Yeah the steamboats and river boats were a reminder of "a much simpler day. A reminder of a more gentle day. And a reminder of a slower day. One where you could enjoy life and the company of others while seeing the sights of the greatest river in America." if you consider the days of Slavery and social injustice towards Blacks and Indians that. By all means appreciate it.
I'm am greatly sorry that those sources of equity and memories of 'great" times, could not survive the way of change that came to our society, but when change comes you must accept change and adapt with it. We must not run change out, or we too shall die along with that very prosperous change.
Tourism is the only source that sustains this "economy" of Natchez. To much pride in the mystique of the past and the egregious ordinances of this city may have "signed" it's death sentence. Remember that too much pride(hubris) can lead to the downfall of even the best. I feel that Natchez has taken too much pride in her history and it has led to the subsequent downfall in industry in this location.
We have become a town (as it says on the welcome to natchez sign--A Certified Retirement Town) that thrives on the help of the Government that cannot even help themselves. Local business cannot keep a city functional past its prime. No, what Natchez needs is another International Paper or Armstrong Tire Plant, Natchez Needs Industry. Not the embellishment of the past.

I must faithfully and strenuously disagree. Alcorn needs new direction and a new emphasis on educational programs. They need to expand their graduate and undergraduate areas of study as well as their teaching staff. They, being the administration, need to appeal to a broader range of students from all over this earth. They could do with a better location; actually all Mississippi Universities except for probably Ole Miss need to be relocated from the boondocks. I would personally never attend Alcorn and would never let my children attend Alcorn.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Everyone is a racist in some form or fashion. We all have an underlying tendency to use slanderous words and uncouth language towards others of opposite races. The notion that Colin Powell received his rank of General primarily because of his race, is belittling and highly un-American. General Powell went to war in Vietnam sir to protect your right to slander his military rank and your first amendment rights. To call him a traitor simply because he believed that loyalty to country is more important than party loyalty certainly defines your character sir. If we love this country as we say we do, why can we not put aside the partisanship and work together in solving our problems. Hey socialism is not a bad idea. Oh, and another thing, the Republican party which has gone so far as to claim Jesus and their hero, negate every teaching of his except one: marriage between man and woman (which some uncertainty remains around). Jesus hated the rich. Jesus preached that we are our brothers keeper. So if he obligated us to care for our "brother" should we not be helping the poor also and not just the wealthy or ourselves.
We as Americans are supercilious. We believe that we are the best at everything, yet we can barely graduate young minds in the fields of technology that will be the future of the world. My God, college is a bad thing it seems in America. If it is not handed to us then we can't do it and we will not do it. We have this idea that other people are subservient to us. But it seems we are subservient to the Chinese, being that they own about a good 55% of our economy (fact-less figure, not based off of actual monetary figures).
Iraq was a mistake, and maybe even Afghanistan. I mean, if you look at it in the sense that Osama Bin Laden knew they could never beat America in a pure military waged war, but as in Vietnam, they stood a chance in a long drawn out war that strained America's military and economic strength. The best option for a response to 9/11 would probably have been to use Spec Ops and utilized the C.I.A, not the full militarily strength of the United States.
That being said, Colin Powell's endorsement does have impact because of his reputation and past achievements. He is a man of impeccable judgement and strong character. He has braved the battlefield of war and Washington D.C., so in my opinion the man's got a right to vote for whomever he wishes. It is his God given Constitutional right, as with everyone of us on this blog.
Amen and may God bless everyone of our sinful souls. We certainly need his blessing and grace.

Dear Ricky and Been_There,
I have lived a very fulfilling life full of its glory and riches. You American's have a very supercilious attitude. I never stated that I am an inhabitant of Natchez. There are a cornucopia of negative in the South. Be it may that you all do not like to acknowledge your wrongs then I guess it may never change. You good for nothing lethargic bums.
