I found the best way to silence a barking dog is an indirect shot of pepper spray. I got this tip from a postman. He said all you have to do is just mist him with in a few feet and it will silence the dog and make him retreat. It usually only takes one or two times and the dog gets the message. This will also keep the dog out of your yard. Also if you know where the dog urinates a couple of drops of Tabasco will brake the habit and the dog go elsewhere. No need to shot or poison.

BTW My alias "Blasterhappy" is not a reflection to what I would do to the animals it's actually an old Army nickname. JUst want to set that straight before anyone jumps to conclusions.

On Police chief: No need to shoot animals

The domestic pet population needs to be controlled. I applaud the efforts of the Vidalia Police Department but I do have a problem with a couple of things. First of all, in the current economic climate we are going to see more and more pets get turned out unfortunately. People just simply can't effort to keep them because it's another mouth to feed. We are not presenting a solution to the problem. Releasing these animals after a certain period of time makes no sense at all but actually compounds the problem. Why doesn't VPD at least Spay or Neuter these animals before release? Or consider having an adoption drive with a small adoption fee to help offset the cost of the sterilizations. Ultimately euthanizing these animals is the answer. I know it's a harsh reality but it's also a necessary one.
I live pretty close to the drop off point and I have had several cats and dogs come up around my house. I constantly see a pack of stray dogs while going down Biglane. Also, that explains why I'm constantly picking up trash after animals have gone through it before trash pick up. Oh and not to mention the two dogs I own that are collared and in a fenced in backyard that go ape*@#! barking at all of the strays that walk up causing my neighbors to complain about my dogs.
Also, I'll be sure to call VPD when one of my dogs gets out going after a stray female that is in heat and I have to search for him for hours. Wait! I'm out of the city limits so I guess they will tell me to call the Sheriff's Office.
Now don't get me wrong I love my dogs but I will not alter my life to accommodate someone's problem they decided to abandon. I think we as a city should expect more to fix this issue.

This makes my Blood Boil! Honeybee74 I sympathize with you. No child should have to go through this. Children are innocent. Bad thing about it most of the time the mother knows and are using the children for her gain wither Financially or for Illegal activities. These kids fall victim to their environments and often it is too late before the damage is done.

I can't believe Rick Brown actually took a stand. He tends to be passive in those situations. He just gained a few points on the respect meter with me but still has a long way to go in my book. Pretty sure Faircloth and Hoffpaur were the driving force. Anyway good job!

On Vidalia considering new municipal complex

Prime location would be across from Wal-Mart but that seems to be already taken. As far as all the negative comments on the Mayor you people need to get a life and get over the Concordia Underground getting brought down. Mayor Copeland has done a great job and will be long remembered as the Mayor that brought Vidalia to the forefront for business and great place to live. I have often wondered when Vidalia would expand the Police and Fire Departments after the Court House was built. It has been a long time coming and it is the right time with the stimulas and the need for jobs. It's a win win situation. Some people just don't get it and think everything is a conspiracy.
Also the comment about leaving a substation where the current Police and Fire Department are is a great idea.
