I think you are correct...but it's a private home, not a business or B&B anymore.

Well, all I can say is that a few of those on the list are not in the tourism, hotel or casino business...Cates, Mosby, Mascagni and Brooks.

Give Lewis a chance...he comes in to an office confused with all sorts of politics and bad policies. He is really trying to do the right thing, but he has to work within the System that unfortunately exists. He has been very careful about making statements because all around him are landmines ready to blow up.

Give him a year, then judge him.

Oh, so much to correct here...the Democrat had it wrong. helen Brooks has only one vote...NAPAC. The representative from HNF is a guy named Michael Cates. He is a business person, not a hotel or casino guy.

The Briars is a B&B, but it is owned by a casino. Cato is out. Too much of a loose cannon for the corporate types.

I heard from the owner of FBC that they are considering accepting an offer to sale the property...maybe the threat of demolition by neglect will be enough pressure to force them to accept. A new owner, one willing to renovate, would be the best solution at this time. The City does not - should not- spend its money on this property. The current owners have removed all the interior trash and debris and has at least provided some stability to the roof. What they have done will make it easier for a new owner to proceed with a condo project.

Things change...its not the natchez we grew up in, but I moved back from NOLA to raise my daughter in Natchez because compared to that city, Natchez is still a great place to be and to grow up. Maybe if you didn't live 100 miles away you could see the things in Natchez that are good.

The real problem with Natchez is ignorance..I am not talking about you, I am talking about the poor education system that is turning out a generation of "have nots".

The Canal Street condo's have all been sold to private citizens...the most foreign owners were from Jackson. The selling price was $100 per sq ft unfinished!

There is another condo project getting started...the owners are called Broadway Holdings and they are renovating the old Lombardo building across Jefferson street from the post office. They are planning new construction on the lot facing Broadway and wrapping around the Jefferson street corner to connect to the Lombardo building. They will sell in the $400k range.
