A little history about all this history makes for interesting reading. A google of "Arlington, Natchez Ms" reveals some pictures, mostly from postcards, and news links. This one foretells the future we see today, and I believe, that we shall see;

The comments under this article made particularly interesting reading, and humorme, your post that your comment "heat up the tar" today obliquely refers to, is a classic.

It has to be unanimous either way, guilty as charged or acquitted, otherwise it is a hung jury and a mistrial. It goes back to ready to be fixed for trial.

There are casinos behind every sand dune and wherever some Las Vegas shyster can get a dozen Indians gathered up. Yet, a place unique to Natchez, easily identifiable with Natchez and only Natchez, a defining kind of place, has been whored out of existence for the sake of sawdust floor level casino barges that benefit only a few well placed and manuevered folks who had the property and stroke to begin with to bend things to their advantage. And who didn't mind getting in bed with these people and pimping everyone else out. Hows the rent on that parking lot piling up, anyone remember how much it is and who gets it? It should be paved in gold.

The remaking of Silver Street so that it could only serve tha boat, the parking squeeze, one thing after another, it has all served to reduce any possible competition there for the last penney.

Some may not be old enough to remember what a vibrant place Under the Hill used to be, talk about Gone With The Wind, it should be Gone With The Boat.

And while I am on my rant, if they are going to be there, why could these blood suckers have been made to festoon their barge in "Mississippi River Boat Gambler" motiff, instead of the standard Las Vegas Tacky? A tamale vender can be given the business about bushes and grass, but "little vegas" is fine?

Sheesh.

Failure to comply?

Was the officer making an arrest? Serving warrants?

Was he doing anything that required the Lady to OBEY his ORDERS in order for him to perform a duty?

What right does this officer have to ORDER anyone around except as is provided for by law in order for him to perform his duty as a police officer? If he was not arresting her, or someone else that she was interfering with, and she was not interfering with public safety or a judicial function, then he has no more authority than my dog to order her to do anything!

Even a Judge cannot issue an Order without specific authority and as provided by law.

Failure to comply with a law enforcement official. Indeed.

Who died and annointed this guy with the authority to handcuff citizens because they annoyed him?

Looks Great! Almost as good as the scale size mock up of all the baseball fields, soccer fields and recreation venues where the hotel, restaraunt, and hospitals are today did when it was presented in the Vidalia City Hall after the land on the riverfront was appropriated from its previous owners.

When the sidewalk was first laid out we were there almost every day with the kids in the evening to walk and enjoy the River. Then first one business.. then another, then changes. Well we found ourselves in the way, don't bring the kids bicycles, get outa there, money being made, in laws getting jobs, they'll forget the ball fields boys if you don't mention it anymore and promise goodies to all.

Copy this and save it. Maybe the big dogs have gotten enough that they won't bother with getting more, but don't count on it. If Marc Archer starts getting pressure to "be reasonable, accomodate this or that, changes need to be made" that converts this from a project to benefit the the people to businesses that benefit some people, support him openly and vocally to stay with the plan.

Looks wonderful.

Fred Butcher is a man I have held in the highest esteem for many years for what I have observed him do. There are many that talk a good talk, but Fred walks the walk, and has for many years. I saw him at the Jamboree and spoke to him, but did not know that he had come across the river to Natchez as athletic director. Congratulations Fred.

He will be a credit to Natchez High, Book It!

We came along shortly after the wreck and saw one man being wrestled into arrest rather unwillingly. It was obvious one car was going the wrong way on the bridge.

They are Buttocks Ugly.

I don't know the guy, maybe he is a saint, but those are some major ugly signs.
