I truly loved watching this man on the gridiron and admired what he did in the community. Although how he died was tragic but if you believe as I do. His day had been marked for Steve on Feb. 14 1973..

On McNair mourned in Hattiesburg funeral service

Posted on July 6 at 8:26 a.m.

I will start this by saying, these are truly the times we live in and all my heart and prayers go out to the Mcnair family. So with that being said Friends and true christians alike please be careful, we as Americans, esspecially sports fans have a habit of placing our superstars on pedestals and Steve was truly one of the greatest to play any sport in the state of Mississippi. There are going to be alot of things said about the situation and what lead up to his death. All that I ask everyman over the age of 20 that has lied to a woman and has a son or sons. Please take this opputunity to talk to them and explain that there is no such thing as little sin or big sin and all men are accountable for our actions.AND WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES!!!(Judge not that ye may be judged) God continue to bless our great nation, true christians and the McNair family..

On Steve McNair found shot to death

I agree with Teach, This type of stuff should be talked about. State supported school or not, but what's most interesting to me. There has never been a first year coach that didn't have the interim tag attached to his name fired. So every now and then family business gets out in the street. Alcorn is no different, but after it is all said and done their will be a coach on the staff name McNair and it wont be Steve. Because there is no way coach Jones and the AD will co-exist at Alcorn after this mess....

On Alcorn State head football coach fired

I want all of you guys to know that wrote in on this article, I love getting up every morning reading the ND and the CL. And it's because you guys, You are truly the one's who make the HBCU experience so special. I can't wait to see all of you on the yard next season frying some fish, smoking some ribs and tossing back a few. Hey remember Johnny T. went 0-11 before he reeled off 6 medicore seasons, so it's going to get better.. God bless and stay commited to the reservation and lets fill Jack Spinks every game next year...

On Alcorn AD: Firings not just based on team's record

As a Alcornite, please post all that is known to be the truth. If this was JSU, No let me rephase when this was JSU and coach Bell and the AD were causing problems on Lynch St it was talked about week end and week out. Freedom of the press is just that, It seems to me that people are to damn touchie feelie. If Coach Jones admits being blindsided by the AD's decision then it needs to be talked about. This is BS, coach Jones was given a difficult task and that was to rebuild a program that lost it's luster. I can't understand why anyone would get made at the news paper for reporting this. When was the last time a first year administration dismissed this many assistant coaches in a rebuilding year. When Harold Raines left as AD, there was no talk about that and yes there was drama surrounding his decision. But he being the professional he was, never let it be known that it had become a strange enviroment on the yard. So keep this in mind the last time Alcorn had a great (TEAM) was in the early 80's. QB Richard Myles, CB Ike Holt, CB Milton Mack, RB Perry Qualls, WR Slick Barney so try now to get that many quality players on the yard at one time. In the early 90's One man brought Alcorn back on top (Steve) McNair I or II or Casem are not coming back so let's understand that. I have a very reliable source on the yard that spells it out. When the recruiting staff goes out and bring these student atheletes to the campus one out ten likes what they see about Alcorn. And I don't know how good your math is but that's not good, so invest into the campus and improve on quality of life for the students and we will attract quailty student. If you think what I am saying is talk just look a PV, alumni support atheletic housing and location.Football players don't like living in dorms. In summary Alcorn State University Alumni within the sound of my voice "help build up and understand the bad goes with the good" The D1 transfers will not go there unless there are vast improvements, so get used to a coaching changes..

Momof1 and meandmy3js, I am a father of 3 and I have 2 sisters so the abortion issue I agree with you but over all. I have to believe this type of different leader is what this Nation as a whole needs. During the mid 90's I would say I was a little more conservative then I am now. But I am far from a liberal also, family values, honesty, loyality and a strong belief is what has endured me for all this time. You see, what your shown on FOX News and CNN pales incomparison to what it is really like to look a parent in the face and hand them a folded flag from a casket of there 18- 22 yr old son or daughter. And try an muster the words " On behalf of a greatful nation" You don't ever want to know that feeling. Especially for a conflict to want to see come to an end. So with this election I have to trust in God and believe thier is more Good, that's going to come from this, then bad. And let me explain one reason why, This country is at a point where we as Americans will never let that cowboy mentality run wild again. President Obama and his adminstration will be held accountible"Believe and trust in that" GOD BLESS YOU TOO! YOU GUYS ARE WHY I PUT MY BOOTS ON EVERYDAY AND DO WHAT I DO!!!Like Obama said in one of his many videos " shake them haters off"

Ladies and Gentlemen, along time ago I remember when a minority would complain about mistreatment or an injustice and the priviledged would say "if you don't like it then leave and of course we didn't because this is all of ours. I saw were one upset person said he doesn't have a country anymore and that's not so.If you really believe the words of the constitution" that all men are created equal" then you really wouldn't be upset you would jump on board and embrass a chance for a fresh new start. But on the other hand as I read the posted comments I see were my younger generation of Soldiers get there ideals from. After 19 years of military service 4 combat tours, 2 peace keeping tours and 1 Humanitarion tour. I served under senior Bush, Clinton and now younger Bush. The average american has no idea what the truth is because if you knew all the facts and back door deals that go on. 40 % of you would probably live in under ground shelters fearing the worst. Now I don't have all the answers but I have a lot more to offer then the average (Joe)The plummer. American is 300 million strong 83 million are Black 95% of the blacks that voted, voted for Obama 63 million totaled. Out of the total 63 million votes the majority were still white middle class Americans voting for Obama and that says alot about the North, South, East and West. People please embrass change and do your part. We in Afgansitan and Iraq are doing our part to defend and perserve the the rights of all, remember this is big' the whole world is watching to see if those old dogs of hatered rear it's head...

As a military man, I am proud of this day and what it says about this Country of ours. I wont to remind all of you what Abraham Lincoln once said" The America that we have built will not be destroyed from the outside but from with in" and what historians tell us is hate, greed and pride will destroy this Nation. This "Man" doesn't have to prove anything else. He merely has to surround himself with the right character of people willing to do what's right for all Americans. The problem, as I saw it yesterday after the announcement was made.It was on the faces of most and simply put "the good ole boy system is a thing of the past". We have no idea were this country can go in the next 4 years, but it damn sure wasn't going any were positive with what most (w)Southerners supported. And if you will support a man whom merely looks out for the (w) rich and alienates the country, than why not support a man who believes in unity and change. The same people that are upset today, tomorrow, next week and for times to come. They are the son's and daughters of the people who were upset when blacks were given the right to vote and allowed to exercise it. Because they knew eventually we would put it to good use.
So I ask that all God fearing Mississipians continue to pray for peace, the safe return of our troops and for President elect OBAMA...
