Seems like the Biglane's might have something to do with that gate? I'm not sure but there have been articles in ND about some conflicts over parking down there associated with the Biglane's attitude

hhhmmm. getalifenatchez - Unless you don't believe in private property ownership and the rights thereof, I guess someone with a more progressive outlook will have to buy that property? You know the ole saying - MONEY TALKS and BS WALKS!!

THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING

our local banks are trustworthy, don't worry about pulling your money out

let the wall street fat cats go bankrupt, they deserve a hard lesson in regards to being greedy and deceptive

I was against the big bailout, we should have been brave and weathered the big lies of wall street

I hope and pray things work out and we can get some good conservative strength in Congress and the White House that will reduce the national debt, balance the federal budget, keep taxes low, strengthen the dollar, kill the terrorists & enemies or at least make them so weak and confused they are unable to organize any major attacks, drill more oil and develop alternative energy, keep our military strong, and allow a FREE MARKET to operate within sensible fair regulations that will prevent big executive deception.

Then we will all be safe and able to prosper. God Bless America.

yep, good news

you know why companies go overseas? It's not because the government sent them there. The government can't make them come back.

It's because operating expenses - taxes, wages for employees, regulation expense, etc - are lower in countries overseas. As McCain has pointed out, for example in Ireland corporate taxes are only 11% compared to 35% here in the USA.

The Democrats have run the corporations out of the country with high tax and high regulation and high minimum wage.

Foreign countries are inviting companies to come there to boost their economies by offering lower operation expense. Pretty simple really.

WE WANT CHANGE???? Change to what? From what to what? From a clean somewhat quiet little historical tourist and retirement town to a polluted, stressful, industrial sesspool? I hope not. From a capitalistic market oriented society to a socialistic/communist utopia? God I hope not.

Change scares me, how about a little improvement, that would be good enough.

Big change is not good. Big Talk is just that - talk, which is cheap and empty. Slow and gradual change is good, that we can adjust to. I'm tired of this rhetoric about change, let's just take care of the good things we have and quit trying to stretch the truth.

This mapping thing is good though, seems like Carrie is doing a good job, make Natchez more visible and attractive to tourists looking for a PLEASANT place to visit where their money brings satisfaction. Now we just need to come up with, as private entrepreneurs, various FUN things to do while they are here. But please leave off the BS talk.

I think you have a good point presby - Franks has been blowing smoke up our tail for a long time.

yeahuhuh,uh huh, uh huh - the rich folks are PAYING more than anyone else, who do you think pays taxes these days?

That is irresponsible on your part talking that way about the Middle East situation. Apparently you care little about national security and the threat of Iran, how foolish and nieve, no wonder you're an Obama cultist.

I'm against this bailout. I'm ashamed of Bush for listening to Palsen and Bernanki, who are obviouisly trying to cover up something with all this money, those guys have made hundreds of millions off of Wall St and I don't trust them.
We have to do something about the national debt, not add to it and hope that in a short term the value of those bad mortgages will appreciate. If there is confidence in that appreciation, why weren't the mortgage companies willing to stick it out on their own?

On Congress OKs historic bailout bill; Bush signs it

yeahuhuh, you obviously think the government, by taxing you whatever amount, can spend your money more wisely than you can for yourself. I disagree.

typical socialistic liberalism which is why we are in the mess we are in now

Democrats have prevented regulation of Wall St and forced mortgages down the throats of lenders that are risky, and now everyone is paying for that. Foreclosures are bad for everyone. Good intentions yes to help low income people get in a nicer house, but stupid in that the math is not there, the borrower must be able to pay back or the extra expense of repossession, refinance, resell, all that and what we have now. Credit is the downfall of us all.

Now Obama is even trying to pass legislation to forgive the debt of countries that owe us, which is crazy as we owe other countries that will not forgive our debt. Ridiculous.

Anyway, investment in infrastructure is a good thing.

Typical liberal - the first sentence "I personally don't think the improved road is needed." and the last sentence "But I think re-paving the Emerald road is best on this project ..." I wonder which one is truly your decision? Liberals are often like that, you don't know where they stand and that's the way they want it. No decisiveness, no commitment, flip-flopping, and promises of how Utopia can be achieved by allowing the government to control everything. I'm against that and FOR FREEDOM.

The landowners will be fairly compensated for the market value of their land, they will come out fine and maybe even be able to live in something other than a ratty trailer.

This is a good project, I don't know anyone that doesn't enjoy the Natchez Trace and Emerald Mound is an awesome and significant landmark that people from AROUND THE WORLD and ACROSS THE NATION come to see. Natchez Trace brings in lots of people to Natchez. I was just talking to some folks yesterday that were here and spending money after their motorcycle ride from Oklahome, over to North Carolina, and now came to Natchez from Nashville just to ride the Natchez Trace. Have any of you couch potatoes been out and explored the Trace and climbed up Emerald MOund, it is awesome. The next time there is a meteor shower, you should check it out - Natural Fireworks!! The indians built that mound for a reason.

Some of you negative homies ought to get out a little bit and maybe you'd appreciate what we have here and realize Natchez is a wonderful place and tourism is a FANTASTIC thing for Natchez, which the Natchez Trace is a big part of along with the other National Park properties we have here.

I am glad you guys are not in control of Natchez's future or we would have NOTHING. Well, other than factories, which the unions have historically killed here. You are so negative and anti-progress of any type, it's pathetic you backwards bunch of negative rednecks.

Thank you Butch Brown for your contribution to the development of tourism for Natchez, we need every economic input we can get. I really enjoy riding the Trace and am so glad we have that new bridge and that the Trace comes right in on Liberty Rd now, it is awesome the way I see it.

Yeahuhhuh, uh huh, uh huh, uh huh -- I can't believe we actually agree on something, yes that little road is dangerous and needs improvement. You're not as big a fool as I thought all your liberal gibberish, you must have fallen and hit your head getting out of bed this morning (hey I'm joking ok)

I wonder what this will pay for

I had refugees from New Orleans here for a week, reckon I'll get compensation for that?

I had to pick up limbs, will I get paid for that, and my grass was killed by the pile, which is still there, will FEMA pay to resod my yard? hhhmmm.. what else can I conjure up........

not that I will but you know some people will play this out for everything they can get, and that is what's wrong with our gov't, paying out too much for crybabies

Good for you happybunny, but I'll hang on to my money and continue investing in my own company as the return is better and less risky. I have some control over what happens with my own stuff.

We don't need no stinking Wall Streeters as bad as the fearmongering Congress and White House folks would lead us to believe. I'm ashamed of George Bush for falling for this, his Secretaries are full of it. The way I see it, they're all trying to line their pockets and take advantage of the ignorance of the masses.

Such as the line I hear so much about companies need credit to pay their payroll- Any company that has to borrow to pay payroll should go belly up anyway, that or fire about half it's employees. That is the epitome of mismanagement, to borrow to pay payroll!!!!

And those of you that think this is just a bailout for Republicans, you are way wrong, the Democrats have had their hands in this from way back. It's a historical fact that the Democrats are really more to blame, pretty much forcing companies to make bad loans.

Yeahuhuh - obviously you are oblivious as to the essence of human nature and of our government

We are not a Democracy, but a Republic, because the Founders of our Great Country knew that the uneducated and self-serving masses would destroy themselves if given an equal vote. I believe they were right, the common person will vote for what is promised to him/her regardless of the consequences to the country. The wants of the masses will destroy us, it is what we need that matters and that involves discipline and doing without, something most people cannot understand. Thus the credit nightmare so many people have gotten themselves into, as well as our government as a result of socialistic endeavors, and the major financial institutions as well. We must get back to the basics of discipline and survival. Take care of our basic needs and cut out the rest. The Democrats understand this very well, thus the entitlements and handouts to buy the votes of the masses, regardless of driving the country into utter overwhelming national debt.

Oh that story about McCain - seems like pure fabrication to me. All these years and nothing like that has ever come out about McCain. I don't believe a word of it.

I'm an independent from now on. Did anyone hear the Senator from Vermont last night,Bernie Sanders, he is an Independent, against the bailout and I wish he was running for President.
