There are two reasons Natchez cannot draw the intrest of industry. They are the school system and recreation. Invest in our school system. No company is going to build here and ask it's employees to enroll their children in our public school system! They will look elsewhere for a town with better public schools to locate. Family recreation would help, but first and formost are the schools.
On What should Adams County do with the money from the Rentech land sale?

There is not a polotician in office that could live on what most of the population has to live on.

Great Job! At least these guys won't be meeting the supply end of the supply and demand routine for a little while. Keep up the good work. That being said, Im going to get on a soap box here.
Drug Addiction is a disease (period). At the start, the addict makes a conscious decision to use. Right from the start, the effect the drug gives them hooks them. Soon, the body becomes dependant and it is no longer a choice. The body needs that drug to function.
Your mind can fool you. Think about a person with a terminal disease, near the end, the mind will tell the body that the person is no longer hungry and they stop eating. Another example is when I was pregnant, my body needed iron and I craved foods high in iron that I normally didn't eat or some that I didn't even like.
I have stated this before, I am a recovering addict, by the grace of God, I have quite a number of years clean and sober. When I was not in recovery, I thought much like some of you, they need to legalize drugs, I'm not hurting anyone but myself. Let me tell you, if they were legal I would be dead! I would never have sought help. Fear of arrest was there but my bodies need for the drug to function was greater! If you have never walked in the shoes of an addict, then please don't presume to know how or what they feel, think and should behave.
Legalization is not the answer. I don't know what the answer is, I wish i did. It is more profitable to sell drugs than work at a burger joint or bag groceries. As long as there is a demand someone is going to supply. Locking up addicts is costly to everyone and does little good since there will always be someone to sneak the drugs in. It is a no win situation until the addict decides he / she is sick and tried of being sick and tired and seeks help like I did.

Well folks this might be one of the last times you hear from me. I will have to cut internet and phone, I already cut cable and I don't have direct tv or anything like that so can't cut corners there. I stopped the paper and read it here. The girls and I already don't go out to eat we cut that out too. My business will have to be closed since I build websites and maintain them from my home. There isn't anything else I can cut. After I have paid the bills that I already have by the middle of the month I am broke. If the cost of electricity goes up I wont be able to pay it. Going to be hard sitting in a hot dark house. Wonder how I am going to feed my children with no refridgerator. I have a gas stove I can hook up... and thank goodness my water heaters are gas, course in the heat of the summer cool baths will feel good.

For me, I always pull to the side of the road I happen to be on when I see lights or hear sirens. I yeld as much of the road as possible. If that happens to be on the left side of the road, and that officer is trying to pull me over, he will follow me to a safer spot to pull over, if he / she is not after me, I have given them more room than they expected to pass. This is how I was taught to drive.
I will keep this officer and the persons in the domestic dispute he was in route to assist in my prayers.

Government programs are a joke! I would like to see the politicians live for just one month on what they consider elegible for the programs. Believe you me, they would raise the elegibility level. I've been there, the red tape you have to go through to get and keep food stamps is unreal. When you leave that office, you feel like you have reported when you went to the bathroom.
I had termites eating my home and had to come up with the funds to correct the problem, but would DHS have considered that in my monthly expenses? No they would not have. I should have spent that money on food and continue to let the termites eat too.
Food banks are needed! God working in our community through spititual and religious organizations is needed! They do more good than our government does. I know I wont ever apply for government assistance again no matter how badly I might need it. I do not like being put under a microscope than have the case worker look down on me and that is the feeling I got. It's hard enough having to go and ask for assistance, much less feel like you are the scum of earth when you leave.

NHS is a war zone where children run ramped and have no fear of consequences for their unacceptable behavior. Our own government has taken away the schools ability to dole out true consequences! There is no fear of Suspension and Expulsion; those children don't want to be there in the first place! Those are just rewards.
I can tell you that in a world where there is a fear of being paddled; there would be a whole lot less unacceptable behavior. Parents who don't want your children spanked, tough teach them not to do things that would land them in that position. It's called following the rules! Just think when they get out of school there are adult laws they will have to follow or land in jail.
I think rather than sending our kids out of state to school, we should model our school after the system we are all clamoring to get them into! Change our laws to fit what is working in Louisiana because what Natchez, Mississippi has is not working.

I believe it is both. They want someone else in the administration role and they will help raise funds for the program. They have backed it financially and cannot continue to do so indefinitely.
