A speed hump is usually higher and thicker and you must come to almost a complete stop or you will tear up your car.
A speed bump is the opposite.

Wow, the mind is a terrible thing to waste. Krogers....talk about stereotype (racist) comments. Your comment just takes the cake.
So you are saying that all black folks that attend Alcorn are receiving some form of gov't funding. And your point is.....I guess the bigger picture is the fact that black people are getting a higher education and that is all that matters.
Yes, I am an Alcornite and I am quite offended by such comments. (B4 you open your mouth and u say something else stupid- I paid my way thru college). In moments like this though, I am most embarrassed to be a product of Mississippi. It is bad enough that the world views the South as nothing but you folks think that you are the cream of the crop with your small town mind mentalities.
It is just freaking amazing to see the comments on this site.
According to the last census report for Natchez, there were only 2,528 people (25 and older) with a Bachelors degree and 8,983 (25 and older) with a high school education and that is with a population of 11,975 (25 and older).....Now you figure that out.
And then the census states that the median income level per household was 25,117. And the national average was 41,994. So if you and the Alcornite are making the same income then what make you special? Last I saw, money was the same color. And it appears that the way the economy is going, no particular race is immune from losing everything.

To the Washington (LuBertha, Eddie Jr, Lee Alex and Mel) family:
We are so deeply saddened about the passing of Eddie. He will be greatly missed by many. We pray that you guys find peace in his memories.
He had such a great sense of humor that would uplift your spirits when he was around and he showed that spirit when mom was sick and after her passing. And during Kims' most recent bearing time with the illness of Glen.
Love you guys.

God bless and much healing to the family. Abuse is a shameful experience for those involved. Those who have experienced abuse understand your dilemna.
Maybe some good can come out of this for you and your family as well as the city of Natchez. Something needs to be done about domestic abuse in Natchez and America. And it must start with the one who is being abused. Most women dont come forward about abuse for fear and shame and unfortunately LOVE.

Natchez, what can you say about a town where your family still resides and you moved away over 18 years ago. If my family was not there, personally I would not return until I was ready to retire.
Natchez has nothing to offer for entertainment and shopping. Years ago as a child, all the other towns nearby would come to Natchez to shop but seems next to nothing now to even think about it. To get decent clothing, you will need to drive what almost 2 hours.
Natchez has never had any form of entertainment and other activities that sparked the interest of the younger generation. All I can remember were my school activities that kept us busy then.
I just left home a week ago and decided to drive around town and Vidalia. Some of the establishments that have opened brought much amazement. The number of hotels around the river, WOW. Is tourism that hot, the hotel parking lots were empty when I passed by. The economy is so bad now that I just dont see how some of those places will be able to survive within the next 5 years unless Natchez picks up the pace and get something to help them thrive.
Now the question is: What can Natchez get? The gambling boat to me is out the question....I see more residents on that boat spending the little money they have than any visitors of the city. Just what is the profit margin of the boat and much of that is Natchez getting back in return?
I read some time ago that they were looking at expanding the mall or as my friends always called it (shopping plaza) again, that would be a plus but the retail stores are closing as well.
Some type of industry needs to return to Natchez. The city officials need to think and work quick.

Folks. Dont believe everything you read in the papers. Jones knew what was happening. From other sources, on last week, I had been informed of the firings/non contract renewals.
Of course, he will play dumb but he knew. Those guys only had a 1 yr contract and he knew they were not going to be renewed.

My thoughts and prayers to the family during your bereavement. Mrs. Wells taught me in the 8th grade at Thompson, she was both inspiring and tough in that classroom. May her memories bring you peace as a grieve the loss of a mother, grandmother and sister.
