Presby,

the reason no one goes downtown on Sunday afternoon in Natchez, Ms is because nothing is open. The reason nothing is open downtown in Natchez, Ms on Sunday afternoon is because no one goes downtown on Sunday afternoon in Natchez, Ms.

It is a Catch 22 situation, has nothing to do with our business leaders or sleepy southern antebellum cotten plantation homeowners.

Two questions for you..

Who are these Sleepy Southern Antebellum Cotten Plantation Homeowners you refer to? and Where in the city of Natchez do these Homeowners raise their cotton?

I have heard so many different explanations on where Vidalia and the parish get their power from.

My question is just WHO does the Hydro Plant supply????

N.D., inquiring minds want to know?????

Anna,

I guess one of my greatest memories with Mike, or at least one I can share in mixed company happened at the intersection of Homochitto and Lower Woodville Rd years back.

As you of all people know Ob (Oblong for long) and I have always seemed to drive early model trucks and cars. You know the type..... no air, mixed painted parts, cracked windshields, balding tires, expired tags and inspections stickers, etc etc etc. The list could go on and on....

Well, I was in my old trusty Dodge Ram that afternoon when I pulled up behind Mike behind the wheel of the real old Yeller. Yeller being that stand-out Bird-Colored Yellow truck I am sure you two used to Prom in. This truck I am talking about always came complete with the truck bed covered with wadded up honey dew lists, empty soft drink cans, baby diapers, a wet CHS letter jacket, topless ice chest, a non-operable jack, a deflated spare tire, and a pair of leashed Blue Tick Coon puppies....

Getting back to the story, as I approached the intersection Ole Ob did not see me coming. So I eased my front bumper up to his back bumper and gave him a little/a lotta push from the rear....As I saw Mike's reverse lights begin to blare I immediately jammed my breaks...damn....to late.....All of a sudden all I could see, smell, and hear was a bunch of white smoke, burning rubber, and squalling tires while Mike shoved me at least 150 feet back in the direction I came.........me the whole time looking over my shoulder praying and preparing for the worst....and Mike looking over his shoulder grinning his boots off....

if you were one of the ones to witness this confusing event all you could hear was Mike, because I am sure my screams were drowned out by his thundering laughter...

Regardless if it was standing in a late night forest looking in a coon-less tree, on posted land chasing after a pack of rabbit dogs while they were running a deer, or checking an empty trotline...........when Ob and anyone departed there was always laughter and a smile.....

To you and the kids, thank
you for sharing him with us....

And in the events of life,
if I happen to beat you to him
...

You know where we'll be.

Correct if I am wrong please, but I have always thought preventing the parishes from flooding was the reason we have the Bonne Carrie Spillway and the Morganza Spillway......

I wonder if these two waterways are open yet or is the decision to open based on just how much more the river is expected to rise......

If I am way off.........please ignore my post.........Modie
