God help the people of Natchez who continue to have tunnel vision and also continue to not face reality. Mr. Iles was NOT saying that we should only focus on or only promote tourism. He clearly stated that as of now Natchez doesn't have ANYTHING ELSE to offer but tourism. All he was saying was... stop dreaming and work with what we do have...for now. This really isn't rocket science people...most of you who post here complain about the poor schools. You complain about the casinos. You complain about the high crime rate. You complain about government officials. You complain about dilapidated buildings but yet, don't want them torn down. You complain about your tax dollars being spent on recreation. You complain, complain, complain and absolutely do not offer any new solutions. What industry in its right mind would want to move here?! You want to continue to degrade the AA community and pretend that ALL things "bad" are a product of the AA community. Until you accept the fact that AA's are an integral part of this community just as White people are; AA's bring positives to "the table" just as White people do; AA's history in Natchez (the truth) need to be told just as White people's history has ALWAYS been told...until Natchez changes her ways no one, no tourist, no business, no industry is going to do business with her! You, absolutely, can not continue to do things the way that you've always done things and expect a different result! (I promise you this IS NOT rocket science...I promise you!) If you've been listening to the news then, you would know that in the next decade or so the white race will no longer be the majority in this country... which means that people are coming together, mingling, meshing, getting along, tolerating each other ALL OVER THE USA with the exception of the South. If we don't change our ways here in Mississippi, especially in Natchez, we will continue to get left out and left behind. I feel sorry for some of you...those who refuse to believe or listen to one of your own (Mr. Iles)... someone who has traveled this country and the world I suppose, and is literally reporting back to you the problems that he sees with Natchez; how this town is literally fading away...and you still don't believe. God help us all! Also, in case some of you don't realize, the internet is a powerful, powerful tool and people all over the world read your comments and remarks. There are people of all races in key positions within major corporations. Ask yourselves this...what is Natchez offering that would make a company want to relocate here? If Natchez can't be hospitable to almost 50% of its own people (the AA community) what would make anyone else believe that she would be hospitable to outsiders?!...Change starts with the man in the mirror!

Great speech Mr. Iles! You "hit the nail on the head"! You "pulled heads out of the sand"! You opened "blind eyes"! You "spoke truth to power"! KUDOS to you for that awesome speech and for having the balls to deliver it in the setting in which you did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, a truthful summary of Natchez (past and present) and a positive perspective of what Natchez could be if we would come together. Awesome!!! In fact, so awesome...I'm going to listen to it again!

I've told you people time and again about how ignorant, judgmental and prejudice you sound to others but, you people insist on putting your ignorance on display...so, so sad! Most of you who post here are pathetic and racist as hell. Then you have the gall to claim you know Christ! I wonder what y'all plan to do when you get to heaven and there are African Americans there, too? Oops!!...my mistake...you won't be going to heaven because you have too much hate in your hearts!!! You bunch of hypocrites!!!! And don't lie and say it's not because President Obama is AA (be true to yourselves..you're not fooling anyone else). It's no wonder Mississippi continues to rank last in everything...it's because of backwoods, narrow-minded idiots like some of you who wouldn't know their "arse" from a hole in the ground! In case you didn't get the memo...long gone are the days and ways of the "Old South" and just in case y'all didn't know, YOU ARE IN THE MINORITY in your ways of thinking. And you want to blame everyone else for the reason Mississippi is in the shape it's in. Well, if you can "grasp" this next statement...understand that YOU are the face of Mississippi! YOU are what everyone everywhere else associates Mississippi with. It's no wonder no one wants to do business in Mississippi. Do you realize that Natchez is 56% African American vs. 46% Caucasian. Adams County is 52% African American vs. 46% Caucasian. So when you spew your hate-filled comments on here, who are you talking to?! Again, I say pathetic and racist...some of you!

If you were meaning to imply that the misspelled word "here" was the principal's fault then, you really are an idiot. It apparently is a typo by the Democrat. The Democrat did not say that they had a written statement from the principal. Some of you are so petty and pathetic!
If these same people (who are scrutinizing everything that President Obama says) had done the same thing to the true Village Idiot (GW Bush), just maybe this country wouldn't be in the shape it's in now! Most of you who post here need to come into the 21st century!
KUDOS to NASD, Trinity School and to all the other school districts that plan to air the president's speech.

It is sad that most of you here are still living in a bubble but, it is also good to know that it isn't all of Natchez (or Mississippi) who feel the way that you guys do!

Can't you see that all of the country is ready to move on past all of this racist stuff...all except the south!! It's a new day y'all! Realize it. Accept it.
