Sure hope they purchased the banners locally! The Convention Center has a history of purchasing outside the community.

I've known Chuck for 35 years; he's a smart, honest, compassionate Natchezian who has donated many hours of service to community projects.
Chuck proved his ability as an Adams County Deputy Sheriff and Metro Narcotics Director. The only reason he's still not at the Adams County Sheriff's Department is because when a new Sheriff was elected, (Ronny Brown), he hired all new personnel.
Chuck has attended law enforcement training schools throughout the country; he is well-known throughout the State of Mississippi as a dedicated law enforcement officer.

johnwentworth: Check out http://jmdigicorp.com/ to see how a local company could provide these panels.

I thought the same thing, "Wonder why they didn't do business locally." Those panels could have been produced by JM Digital, who recently won an award for being an outstanding innovative business. Shipping and installation expenses would have been saved by the National Park Service. I bet those panels cost a lot of money. Everybody needs to check with local vendors.

double011, earlier you said Stine received a grant. Wrong. Mr. Stine may have referred to it as a grant, BUT IT WAS NOT A GRANT! Now you say 'People have seen the federal aid papers.' Give me a break and show me the papers!
What people need to realize is how much money Stine has invested in this community and how many people they employ. Stine could have located another store in Louisiana, but instead chose to open a second Mississippi store.
Stine asked for a tax break and was denied. End of story. Go crawl back in your hole and dream of something else to complain about.

double011 you are wrong, wrong, wrong! Stine did not receive a grant; they received New Market Tax Credits from a lending institution. Get your facts straight, Einstein.

I, too, am offended by Swapmeet's comments. We all hav e our religious beliefs and don't press them on anybody; at least I don't. He/she/it should be in church preaching religion, not on a local blog.

I attended the debate last night. Mr. Mayfield was composed, articulate, and very professional. He answered all questions without hesitation. Mr. Mayfield's expertise in the law enforcement field was evident.
I think it's important to realize that Mr. Mayfield does not intend to replace the current deputies and staff. Mr. Mayfield stressed that it is important that he get "a good understanding of how the department is operating before considering/making any staff changes." Mr. Brown stated numerous times, "I will personally interview all present and future employees."
It appears that they have two vastly different priorities. Mr. Brown is concerned with replacing all existing employees; Mr. Mayfield is concerned with getting the department back in the shape it was in when Sheriff Ronny Brown was in office. The only change Mr. Mayfield plans is to get the deputies to present themselves in a more professional manner.
