We need anything that will bring in money. Casino, horse race, or ditch diggers. I only feel for the local contractors. Take a 1.6 million hit in good times is bad. Take it in this kind of economy and it is disaster. If I was any of these local contractors I would want free dinner and rooms at the least, and a good bottle of whiskey to help soften the hit of being owed this kind of money.

Clarence Bowlin is like a fox telling the farmer to put more chickens in the hen house and leave the door open when it comes to this subject. I remember when I was young and played ball he did everything possible to change the uniforms every year so the kids parents would have to buy new ones every season. The local leaders saying this will bring in more money and tourists sounds oddly like a new convention center would bring in more people to our hotels and resturaunts, or a new visitor center would help guide more people to our old homes and generate more taxes and more golf holes would bring in big golf competitions. I could go buy a new stock racing car but that wouldn't make me stock racing driver. We live in a town that struggles every year to even have enough kids to have teams. This town can't even afford to cut the grass around here, keep the streets paved, much less make any sound financial decisions about a sports complex. How much will the power cost? how much for the upkeep? how much for insurance or security to keep the thugs out? We couldn't keep a little pool open in duncan park and they want this big white elephant? The city is trying to put the visitor center on to the park service and has let the convention center be taken over by out of towners because we can't afford them and did a crappy job at running them. They all say recreation is big business, well, show me a business plan instead of a lot of hot air. The Democrat and the local leaders are on the bandwagon togeather again, just like they were when convention center, visitor center, hotel construction, and more golf holes were promised to make BIG impacts on our economy. All any of them did was was tie balls and chains to the feet of the tax payers with nothing to show for it. I will tell everyone to vote NO until a business plan is in place and some form of competance is shown from our local goverment. Cart in front of the horse days are over Natchez

It's bad for beggars and people who look for handouts everywhere. One of the problems with this city is the debt that has been put on it and the lack of vision going back to the Brown days. What has grown in Natchez and what has shrunk? Well, the population has shrunk, business has shrunk, tax rolls have shrunk, quality of the public school system has shrunk. But, alas, the city goverment has GROWN, GROWN, GROWN, Thats whats wrong with Natchez. I don't pity any of them. This city needs a lot more cuts in in goverment. Butch was a big goverment mayor. I have said it many times before, what good is a mayor if all he can say he got was a bunch of goverment handouts. Other than that can anybody tell me what he did? He hooked this town on handouts like crack to a crack head. When the handouts ended several things left Natchez. Quality of life, Butch Brown, and his enablers. And I am still waiting on that Casa aircraft company he said was on it's way to Natchez

Natchez Bear, Why you are on the subject. Why don't you discuss how deplorable the govt. run health care is for the indian nations. And, how well, from your experience, do you think the govt can manage heath care if this bogus bill passes. And I worked for a contractor that is owed a lot of money there also, so don't get me started.

I went to Dr.Mcgee since I was a child, I now go to Dr. Isles his daughter. All my records are in one place, NOT IN A GOVERMENT CENTER IN WASHINGTON. I don't want to go to a network Dr. Marine you say you are in a network. What happens if you don't like the doctors in your network?
For me I will just go some place else. Can you? I don't know of a doctor in Natchez or anywhere else that won't take bluecross. But, If I am in a goverment run network ( not talking about the good network the congress is in) I will have to go where I am told. Maybe you and others want to go where you are told, But not me when it comes to my health, I WILL CHOOSE!. And thank you for your service. You fought for my freedom. Which includes my freedom of choice when it comes to my health and docs. God BLESS AMERICA! AND MY MISSISSIPPI

Marine, ok, See there is one thing you and a lot of people don't see here. You and everybody else will be FORCED to get insurance. Imagine being forced to buy your car, food, clothes and everything else from 1 place. You speak of competition, let me tell you how it will kill private ins (in the long run) 1st goverment will come in with cheaper prices. Contrary to what people believe, you will not be able to keep your doctor of choice IN THE GOVERMENT PLAN. You will have to go to a doctor that the goverment commision tells you to when you have goverment ins. For people who have insurance like me, if anything changes in my policy, I will have to go to goverment ins. So, if I call up Bluecross and say I want a lower deductable, my policy goes up or anything changes, I will Have to go to goverment ins. Anybody who has ins knows that changes are made every 1 or 2 years in their policy. See thats the hooker. I have bluecross for my employees, when a person comes from the goverment and says I can save you 1000$ a year if you go with the goverment plan and I say yes I will take it, Guess what. Now my employees who can go to any doctor they want WILL HAVE TO GO to a goverment appointed doctor. THEY HAVE NO CHOICE. I asked them and they don't want that. A lot of doctors have choice. Some don't want to take medicaid and medicare and don't, because of the hassle and paper work and not being paid on time. You know, a lot like the dealers who have been stuck with the bill in the Cash for Clunker Deal. Over time as more people go to the goverment plan, private insurance and doctors not in the plan will have to raise prices to make up the difference ever more priceing themselves out of business. Private docs, and insurance companies will lay off people and slowly go away. In the end you end up with healthcare like in Canada, Europe and other socialistic societies. Then, when you don't like the goverment ins, you can't leave it. In other words you have no choice then. I think you and both agree Medicaid, welfare, medicare, V.A and indian nation hospitals are corrupt very wasteful and almost bankrupt. Let them clean those up and right that ship and I may consider them controling healthcare. Our constitution was written on 6 pages. Plain and simple but solid as a rock. Over 1000 pages of Bs in this bill. And to think they tried to shove it through in 2 weeks.

Marine, I understand your point. People do need help. I am for changes to the system. Just not a goverment takeover. Private business is the way to do it, and it needs some changes. I assume you are in or have been in the military Marine. Do you know why we have the best military in the world? because private contractors can compete. Look at the Chinese or Russian military and their equiptment. They have goverment run contractors. Their stuff is no where near the quality of ours. They have more but quality beats quanity. Let me tell you how this needs to be done. 1st cut the waste and abuse. 2nd TORT REFORM! 3rd pool the people who can't afford it. If they can work and are not sick and crippled make them work, pick up trash, time in the library or anything 3rd! Drug test welfare recipients, let people know ther is no FREE RIDE. If you have 2 hotdog stands 1 sells them for a buck and has them for free, where do you think the longest line will be? Personal responsibility needs to be put in the system. Just because you are poor does not mean you get stuff for free. I have a bud who worked in the 9th ward after Katrina, he said after the destruction what amazed him was how many plasma tvs, big caddies with high dollar rims, and how much expensive things were in the mess. People say they were poor that's why they got stuck there. The reason most got stuck there is the goverment didn't pick them up and haul them off. They got out of there when gustav hit didn't they. Point is the goverment can't do everything. Just like they can't do everything when it comes to insurance. All newly elected say they will cut waste, just like here in Natchez. Middleton said he would meet with every department every month when running for mayor and cut waste. Well? Look at NRMC and look at hummana. Funny how in Natchez with 2 hospitals one is broke and one prospers. Wonder why? One is private and one is managed by our local goverment. Need you look any farther? Look at our VA hospitals and Hospitals on Indian lands. What a shameful mess. You know welfare was only started to provide for mothers during WW2 whos men were off at war. Look what it turned into and the generations of people who have fell as slaves to it and the cost. Abe Lincoln said himself "you can't bring up the poor by tearing down the rich." You people say Aww tax the rich they are the bad guys. I am not rich, but do any of you people want to be rich? Make more to have the goverment take more?

Mojo, that's lame, in the last 4 years my business has given over 40,000$ to charity. That being the Natchez childrens home and others across the state. How much have you given? I don't know where you get your numbers, but, about 51% of all taxes paid in this country come from the top 5% wage earners. The goverments tax income is down about 22%, you know why. The rich got hit hard in the stock market. Do you realize the people who make over 250,000$ is about 65% of all small businesses in the country? That seems like a lot of money, but it really isn't when it comes to small business. By the way, I just left my doctors office (won't say who) but he had a form that said no to goverment ins with our local reps addresses and numbers on it. Also, Obama says the American Medical Ass. (AMA) is behind him. That is a LIE. This group represents only about 12% of all Docs in the country. Just like Obama said the AARP was behind him, that was a lie also. Every Doc I have talked to said they did not support this bogus bill. If any of you people want to give, give it to the childrens home.
