CLAIBORNE County, Miss. -- An Alcorn State University student was found dead outside her off-campus home Thursday, campus police said.

The Claiborne County sheriff said the body of Danielle Newsom, 22, of Natchez, was found outside a trailer at the Stallings Trailer Park on Highway 552 in Lorman Thursday morning. She had been shot five times, the sheriff said.

Eboni Bena White, 21, was arrested in connection with the slaying, the sheriff said.

White and Newsom lived in the same trailer park and were both Alcorn students, the sheriff said. The shooting was the result of an argument between the two women, the sheriff said.

White was being held Thursday at the Claiborne County Detention Center.

Sarcasm, people....jeesh....

Where in the world does anyone think this dust mite is going to come up with a bond that high?

No question. This guy will be out in a day or so.

You would be surprised at how many people are willing to post bond for a homeless, penniless, child-molesting, self-confessed murderer.

Slap on the wrist, my friends.

Just like Polanski....same darn thing....wake up, Amer'ca!

What a crock of croopity croop! It does not take a genius to apply for grants. Tutorials and references galore all over the internet.

Most efficient businesses ask their employees to apply for grants in their spare time and offer a bonus to the employee if the grant comes to fruition.

Most likely, this person was not meeting quota. Any moron can score one big grant each year and claim that pays for their $40k salary, but the real world doesn't work that way. If your title is "Grandpoopa Grant Writer," you are expected to bring in a considerable number of grants.

Of course, that means you have to work. Unfortunately, most grant writers are political smooshers who earn money by the handshake and the bar tab.

It's a sad life, but all God's chillen gotta make a livin'.

I'm not saying that Alcorn is up there with Harvard, but I think it's a wonderful college. I take at least one course at Alcorn each year.

The classes are extremely student friendly (very easy).

I'm too old to worry about what social life exists on the Lorman or Natchez campuses, so I won't even begin to comment on that aspect of the university.

The administrators and teachers, absolutely and without question, go the extra mile for their students.

The course offering from top to bottom is outstanding---especially when considering its diversity.

Security people are everywhere on the campuses. I've never been on either of the campuses without seeing at least two security officers at some point during the day or night. (usually, many more)

The youngsters are like youngsters all over the country, but they don't really care if you are black, white, Russian, redneck, gangsta, Asian, Hispanic, or whatever. I'm not saying everyone gets together and sings Kumbaya at sunset every day, but they get along very well.

Alcorn is a true blessing to Natchez. I've graduated with a degrees from Ole Miss, Auburn, and USM. Even after attending those relatively large universities, I can confidently tell anyone that Alcorn is on its way. Twenty years from now, that place is going to be much bigger on both campuses.

Keep up the good work, Alcorn.

Looks like some of these parents who are going to teach their children at home had better begin studying their grammar, usage and mechanics.

Holy schmokes, hopefully the kid will be gifted and survive his training.
