I have a few questions people. Why is it that many major metro areas across the US, bars close at 0200 and there is no problem with that? It seems to me that we have gotten into a mind set on these blogs that nothing that that is perceived coming from "those in power" or the "blue haired mafia" has any worth. Let's break this down.... if you have good and well thought out suggestions get active in city government - don't just gripe/complain on the blog. But don't necessarily condemn everything said by someone over 50 or someone who enjoys living downtown. A lot of us work hard on our yards so that people... local or visitors... driving around to see this beautiful area will have a great visual experience. But there are a lot of local people who have absolutely no respect for themselves or others who constantly litter. Every day we clean up Popeye papers, Kentucky fried boxes, Mickey D and Burger King trash out of our yards along with used needles occasionally and other litter. Is it too much to ask that we all act like adults and clean up after ourselves? I don't care if you party till you puke but lets show some self respect and don't expect others to clean up after you. If people don't have any place to party except for the bars they aren't looking very hard. The MissLou has some great venues for parties but that's not the point - the point is we all need to stop griping and criticizing and make some well thought out changes. Take the responsibility! If you are a parent - get together with other parents and do something positive - show your children what people working together in a positive manner can accomplish. The only place we can make change is right here in our hometown and the time to do it is now. We all need to regain our personal responsibility and be proud of our neighborhoods and our town. I think Natchez is a great place to live - the people, the area and the State is full of unique opportunity.

It seems to me there are many things to do in Natchez. This past weekend, for example, I counted about twenty different things plus water sports, camping, hiking, biking, kite flying, and gathering with friends. I can't believe that with as many restaurants as we have in the area you couldnt find one to suit. If you can't, we are equidistant (90) miles from three major cities who have every cuisine under the sun...... I think we have a pretty good thing going on here.

Hardcorps - Cherry Point was our only east coast duty - unless you count a three year unaccompanied (kids and I went anyway) tour on Okinawa at Futenma.

As a military wife (retired now) who has a daughter in Alaska with her military husband, I think it is fair to ask you who are jumping on this lady to leave her alone! It is darn hard to make all those moves and live with an absent husband (TDY or in our daughter's case a deployment to Iraq) without people second guessing your motives. If the family chose to stay here - God Bless them and I hope everything goes smoothly for them. Military families give up a lot - they should not be expected to give up freedom of choice.

Since Phillip West offered, for free one presumes, to take his sledgehammer and tear down the Pecan Factory, would'nt it be reasonable to expect him to take his mower and cut the grass for his friends Mr. Worley and Mr. Brown?

Again I would like to ask Peace... what is the experience/record you are noting for GEN Clark? Do you remember the man was fired from his position as NATO Commander by his benefactor, President Clinton? Wesley Clark has never been a viable candidate for President, based on his military or private record and I question his credence as a commentator.

Peace007 You have a much different opinion of GEN Wesley Clark than do the soldiers who have served with and under him. What is it that qualifies him to decide who has the competency to be a good leader? Norman Schwarzkopf threw him out of his headquarters - I'm with Stormin Norman - who, by the way, can cut through bull *&%$ quicker than any field commander alive.

Why is the CVB just now getting "true numbers of rooms?" Isn't that their job? Smoke and mirrors are alive and well in Natchez tourism.
