George W Bush and his cronies have already damaged our country’s economy beyond repair – but now your idea is for Ron Paul to nail the coffin shut? You want Ron Paul to cut taxes even further so the massive bill for this pointless war will never be paid off? This is total irresponsibility.

And how can we take your article seriously when you state: “If you are excited about running farther and faster down the path of the European-style big government regulatory welfare state, then spin the bottle and pick either of the Democratic Party candidates.” Neither Obama or Clinton have advocated such a thing, this is knee-jerk absurdity. And how ironic: Europe right now is markedly in better economic shape that the USA, despite their “big government regulatory welfare state.”

How Old South... Maybe Mr. Duke should MOVE to Iran, so he can join his Holocaust denier-buddies, as the New South doesn't have much room for him...

Please explain to me why SO many people on Regional's board, like Dan Bland, have NOTHING to do with the field of Medicine? Is it for the the $50 they get per meeting? Or for the ego trip? They hardly seem very wise, having let the hospital get into such as mess...

I can only assume that Kirk Bartley thought George W. Bush was, unlike Obama, not "a talented talker" and like W. he also "lacks details," and yet he probably still voted for that total failure of a president (probably both times, in 2000 and 2004). And so why is Kirk so hard on Obama? Explain, please...

On Obama is talented talker, lacks details

Thanks Kevin, for this opinion. The only successful industry Natchez has at this current time is TOURISM. And our history is the lure for tourists who come to this town. If we destroyed our historical buildings and beautiful natural sites, we've lost EVERYTHING. Thank heavens for our Historical Foundation for keeping this city alive. The only hysterical people in this town are those angry losers who are too stupid to understand this fact.

Froggy: Where ARE we going when this life if over? I either didn't get brainwashed in Sunday School, or I actually USE my brain. Because I have NO idea what you're talking about. Do you think your belief in magic and in the supernatural really helps you in your life? Or doesn't it keep you in a foggy state of illusion?

Mrs. O'Briene is also a follower of a religion which not only is against abortion but is also against the use of condoms, the pill and other forms of and birth-control. What idiocy! How does she expect women NOT to get pregnant without these preventative measures? By saying the rosary?

I might belive in Mrs. O'Bierne more if she spent more money on raising unwanted children and less on money on her hats...

Has Mrs. O'Bierne EVER adopted any unwanted children? No! Have any of her Cathedral friends adoped any unwanted children? NONE that I know of. And who would have raised these 50 millions unwanted babies? Any of YOU, who are against Roe v. Wade? What hypocrites you are!

And have any of you looked at the statistics, that show that whether abortion is legal or not (in any nation), the same number of abortions occur? The legality of abortion is NOT the issue; rather, the issue is whether women who have abortions are going to have them legally or illegally, and therefore endanger their their own lives and health.

Overturning Roe v. Wade will not stop abortion; it will only make it illegal - like smoking pot, which is one of the South's, and America's, great pastimes. And who of you, or your spouses or children, have never smoked pot?

What does Ghost mean by "you people drive away industry"? And who are "you people"? What drives aways industry from Natchez is the lack a good public education system as well as the region's undying racism from both whites and blacks. No non-Southern business would ever consider placing "industry" in a place where people, such as the people who post most these comments here, voice such nasty, illiterate and racist views. Besides: Natchez has, right now, a very viable "industry": it's called "tourism." And it's possibly on the upswing with the new hotels being built. Wake-up people: the kind of "industry" that Natchez had from the late 1940s until the early 2000s has now moved off-shore and will never return to the USA (due to the kind efforts of the Bush Administration). So accept the fact that tourism is Natchez's best bet to a healthy present and future. We could be worse off: we could be any other obscure Southern town, but we're NOT: people from around the South and the USA and the World REALLY want to see our fascinating city spend money here. And this is a great thing.

Guns in the house: looks where that leads: to a husband accidentally shooting his wife. How pathetic. Welcome to the South and to the Bible Belt: where good Christians are taught "thou shalt not kill" and to "turn the other cheek" and where there are more churchgoers that anywhere else in the nation and yet more people believe in captial punishment and "shoot first, ask questions later." What a region of hypocrites. Jesus would be appalled.

On Do you have loaded guns in your house?
