I can't believe that people can't recognize sarcasm. The first comment on this thread is dripping with so much sarcasm that it got my keyboard all wet.

At least our board of aldermen meetings aren't like the one that is in the links I posted below. Click on the second one if you want to move straight to part two and see the craziness (go back and watch the first one for some context if you'd like). This was from Leland, Mississippi.

Yeahuhuh, I understand your premise on this topic. The federal government has showed their incompetency with many things such as our retirement (social security) and are about to ruin the country's auto industry and health care. This is a different situation with CCA though. Although this new prison houses government inmates, it is not run by the government. The federal government actually realized that a private corporation is better suited at running a prison than they would be. That's why we should privately contract out the management of the parks to a lawn service. Specialized business brings prices down. If the government would hire different private contractors to take care of different aspects of gov. (i.e. lawn service) instead of trying to use gov. employees and manage a hodgepodge of services under one umbrella, we could save a lot of money. Okay, I'm rambling now, but you all get the picture (I hope).

Is this the man I see walking on Highland that has an afro that is graying?
I only want to know so I can be careful if I see him again (assuming it's him which is why I'm asking).

We had a great time shooting fireworks last night and I managed not to burn anything down. Everyone is so concerned about others being responsible enough with fireworks. The other day someone pulled up in a car playing music with obscene language in ear shot of my young daughter. Where's the outrage about that. Where's the enforcement of a loud-music ordinance. Maybe we don't have one.

I will be shooting fireworks with my daughter tonight after the ones on the river because she didn't get to last year and this will be her first time to really remember it. I will be shooting them on a concrete driveway and have a water hose nearby "just in case." Some people can think for themselves without a "big brother" doing it for me. It's funny how certain groups of people claim "big brother" whenever it comes to intelligence gathering yet think it's okay for government to dictate every minute detail of your life. LOL.

As an educator, I must address all of the commenters who blame the school system's teachers as the problem. Just as in all aspects of the economy (the private and public sector), we have people who do not care about their jobs. These few give the majority a bad name. I can attest to the fact that most teachers pour their heart and soul into the children of our school district. Unfortunately, many of the kids we teach do not care about themselves or their education. No matter what type of motivating, cajoling, or implementation of tough love you may administer, some children just choose not to learn. It's very sad but is not the fault of the teachers.
