Well said, Marc! Thank you! What really hurts me is when I hear people yelling cuss words at little children. Those thoughtless words are like daggers in their tender hearts.

The Arlington that existed before the fire is gone forever. If Donald Trump bought it tomorrow and restored every square inch, it still would not be the national landmark that it was. Dr. V is the owner, like it or not, and we aren't a fascist state YET. I say leave him alone and whatever will be, will be.

If Dr. V followed Judge Blough's directive to write a plan & sign it and then did not carry out all or part of the plan for any reason, he would be incriminating himself, which is unconstitutional. I hope he's getting some legal advice.

We are all God's children, brothers & sisters in Spirit, regardless of color or culture. May this man's family be comforted at this sad time.

Dr. V made no secret of the fact that Arlington was not regularly inhabited, either by himself or a responsible tenant. I doubt there's any insurance company that would have taken on such a liability. Probably he could have afforded insurance IF he could have obtained it, which is unlikely.

I haven't spoken to anyone about my coupon idea, but was hoping, if I threw it out there, it would sprout wings.

I've had many pets over the years and all of them came from Natchez Humane Society. They offer a reduced-cost spay or neuter for every animal adopted - a pet gets rescued from the clinker and won't produce any more homeless animals. Win-win.

Well, that's a bummer. Downtown Natchez is just starting to look like the vibrant place where I grew up.

Hey, ND, can you correct the typo in the headline?

70 animals spayed or neutered per weekend - that's 35 per day. Can that be done safely? And what if something goes wrong a couple of days later and the Little Fix trailer is gone? Will the owners then sheepishly take the ailing animals to their regular vet? That's a good way to tick off the vets. I wish the local vets would get together and develop a coupon program providing reduced-cost spay-neuter operations at their clinics. Most folks don't want to spend $100 or more to get a stray cat fixed.

I hope the 50 percent who didn't vote will come out for the runoff. This is an important election for the whole county.

Natchezbear, you are so right. It's certainly not my place to judge Dr. V or anyone else.

BTW, 4 comments up, DUCKHUNTER said Dr. V had OCD.

What Dr. V should have done 7 years ago, and could do now if he acts quickly, is bring in a demolition crew and level the place, push the bricks off into the bayou and let Nature take over the yard. He'd be left with low taxes and a valuable piece of land with no upkeep concerns. Yes, the preservation folks would be mad, but no madder than they are now.
