This sounds like a wonderful program. I think Adams County/Natchez really needs this.

I have to save mine to help me with maternity leave from work this summer. Thank God for that stimulus money!

destiny - yeah, I've seen the same thing. They like to try to throw coke cans into sun roofs...that's just not nice!

I would love a new place to kayak. It's great exercise!
On Would you visit the St. Catherine Creek recreation lakes if they were built?

I'm just speaking from experience of a floor worker. Having 2 nurses care for a floor full of people is not easy at all. I'm not real sure how the ER is run, but I hate to hear that you had that experience bum. The stress of being overworked often does lead to a less-caring attitude - and I'm not defending these people in any way. It's still wrong.
kpage - I agree, that's not their only problem...but it sure is part of it, I bet. I'm not sure what the answer is, but I hope they find it quick.

I agree that we do need a mental health treatment facility here in Natchez. Mental illness affects people of all ages, races, and economic backgrounds. It's not just the "lower class" people. There have been doctors, lawyers, actors, health care workers, teachers, and many more who have suffered from mental illness. One study I've read about...and that's been years ago, may have changed since then, but stated that one in five individuals suffer from some form of mental illness, whether they are managed/functional or have to be treated on an inpatient basis. So, statistically, how many people in this area would be affected by mental illness?

The thing about it is, though, that the hospital cannot deny treatment to a patient based on the fact that they do not have insurance. And they rarely see payment from those cases. I hate to see all of the cutbacks with the employees. They're all worked to the bone already. This brings to me concern of quality of care and if they are able to safely staff their nurses/aides. Besides, the other hospital is not really big enough to support ALL of the patient care needs of Natchez. Where would the patients go if NRMC was not around?

Peace, I agree that there are way too many that lie to get the benefits. Then there are those of us who waited until we got married to get pregnant and pay an arm and a leg for any benefits. Actually, medicaid allows for more prenatal testing than most private insurance. I'm not saying that everyone who is on medicaid doesn't deserve it. I believe in helping those in need. But I definitely think there should be more investigating involved in many cases.

I personally can't wait to see the project completed. I love kayaking and can't wait to go again. I've been in the river but would like a little safer area to go. I think it would be a great family outing and is great exercise!
On Plans for St. Catherine Creek will go to Washington
