The dispatch idea sounds great. However, it's not as easy as it sounds. The dispatcher can hold the life of an officer in their hands. You don't want some person coming in every once in a while to dispatch a few hours. Most people have no idea that a dispatcher has to be certified through the state board of minimums and standards. It takes a special person to dispatch and it's every bit as stressful as being on the streets. Law enforcement is a totally diffrent animal than most things. People don't realize that certain things have to be done certain ways, and to someone that has never been around it certain things may seem foolish or make no sense. However, there is logic behind it all. If procedures that may seem foolish to the public aren't followed, it could end in an officer being badly injured, or worse. Just something to think about

He couldn't afford a real gun, he had to use the money in his "buy a real gun" account to buy crack instead. It's a shame the person in the car didn't have a real gun!!

Accidents happen, law enforcement officers are human just like everyone else. The Glock is a very reliable firearm, it's very easy to break down and maintain. However, it only has a trigger safety and you have to be a little more careful with it. A 15 year veteran of the Jackson Police Dept shot himself while holstering his glock at the range a few years ago.
This should show the danger that officers face everyday, on duty or off. Their job is inheriantly more dangerious not just because of the bad guys but also because their is more of a risk for car accidents, or accidents such as this.

I think chief mullins does a great job with what he has. both police and fire deserve much more money than they get!! The board and mayor need to undestand that if they want to retain experienced officers they need to match pay from other departments as well as perks like take home vehicles that other agencies offer. Take home vehicles also increase visibility even when the officer is not on duty.

dfbrown68, Mr Vines is anything but good. He was elected by the people of his community to do a very important job, with that job comes a trust. He took that trust for granted and stole from us. He didn't steal from us once, but time after time after time. He was given chances to correct it, he lied and made excuse after excuse, the entire time still taking money to pay the morgage on his house, buy cars for his family, and who knows what else. It's time people woke up and ran the crook out of town. He is NOT a good man. A good man would not betray the trust of a entire community and steal money out of the pockets of hard working people in this county.
It's that attitude that has put us in the situation we are in now, and if this community dosen't stand up and make changes things will never get better. No company or industry is going to want to locate in a county where one of the most important county officals steals money for years, has the nerve to run for re-election and the people of the county are stupid enough to put him back in office.
This has nothing to do with God, stealing a candy bar as a kid, or race. It boils down to common sense, and 2,375 people have no common sense

Unitus, Are you SERIOUS!!!!! I don't even know what to say about your post, You have left me speachles. The man is a worthless, gutless, crook. He stole your money, no matter how you try to explain it, he stole your money and got away with it! Anybody that tries to defend his actions should be sitting in a jail next to the cell that Binkey should be in

I can't beleive the people of Adams County!! This man is a crook!!! He stole money out of your pocket and mine, I work to hard for my money to have some CROOK steal it!! Binkey should be in Parchman, and yet the people of Adams County are about to re-elect him. The money he gave those people to help pay their bills wasn't his money to give, it was mine! I work like crazy to pay my own bills, and this man is stealing my hard earned money. He has no morals and will say and do anything he has to in order to get whats best for him. If Binkey really wants whats best for Adams County he should withdraw from the race... but I'm not holding my breath

Buttercup, you said it. You watch CSI, and thats the problem!! you don't know what your talking about. There was no DNA in the 70's and early 80's so what are you going to compaire it with. Also, where is your pc for getting a sample. Before you start slamming peple about that YOU think they should of done try to find out what your talking about.
I'm sick of reading this board with the same people rambling on and on about how bad the police are. These peolple need to stop trying to play police on a message board and go try and get hired on if they think they can do such a better job. But they won't
