On Natchez coffee shop sold to new owners

As usual, a business promoted by the ND and no address. Thank you frogprincessntz for addressing (literally) the issue the ND can't seem to figure out.

I'm glad we went with satellite about 6 months ago. Do we end up without TV reception with it? Of course, but only once has it been the company, usually it's weather related. And it's not often it's out. Cableone needs to start lowering their rates if they expect to keep business. I heard before that they were supposed to be improving their reception. Doesn't look like it (again). We kept the internet service through them because, as of now, it's the fastest available. Once someone else gets a better service offered we'll dump Cableone completely.

Gee, I sure am glad these stories are online. If they weren't I'd never know how half are supposed to end! Start getting someone that knows how to print the newspaper. I'm tired of words cut off or even whole paragraphs missing.

By the way, I DID enjoy this human interest story. Sounds like they all had a great time.

"Part of that bill would require that all revenue accrued through the increase would go toward a major city project."

And then we can find projects to do that have NOTHING to do with recreation. I haven't lived in Natchez long, but even I can see the city leaders use the 'recreation' word as a ploy. It helps them get elected, it sounds really good to toss around the idea. But they're never going to build it because the powers that be haven't yet decided us lowly peons MIGHT want/need something like that. Travel, partying and whatever else they do to stay insulated from every day working people blinds them to it. Old money talks in the long run, and they really couldn't care less.

Of course if they DO anything, first they'll need to spend at least $100,000 to 'study' the idea first. Then maybe another $100,000 so they can apply for some fictitious grants.......

So, if anyone believes they'll ever see a recreation center for Natchez..... I've got a bridge I'll sell you.

Natchez prices ARE high. This area is for nothing but tourists. Yeah, they'll pay the higher prices, that's part of their sight seeing budget.

Tried ordering a sandwich from a 'mom & pop' for lunch. Sorry we don't have that meat in, we'll get it tomorrow. Oh, thank you! I'll wait until tomorrow to have lunch! THAT'S why I shop Natchez as little as I have to!

Go to a hardware store to buy something and they don't even know their own stock, or just don't carry things. "Can you order it for me?" "No, we don't do that...."

To many of these locally owned businesses think customers OWE them their business.

I myself am tired of substituting something I didn't want so these local businesses can keep making a buck.

Prayers go out to ALL families involved.

As for the picture, put it on the front page! I just had an idiot blow his horn at me for not making a right hand turn on a red light in front of a whole string of school buses! I think some of these 'gotta be there yesterday' people better start waking up. Leave early enough that you aren't strapped for time. Are you in a hurry to get to the cemetery? I'm not!

On Power returns as Entergy calls in reinforcements

Posted on September 5 at 7:33 a.m.

We got power back yesterday afternoon. But let me say this, Entergy has the WORST public announcements around! They give you NO information at all on how things are progressing. We're supposed to just sit and wait (patiently!). Telling people what progress has been made goes miles towards public relations. And as I was sitting in the dark, the LAST thing I wanted to keep hearing was how the local restaurants had power!!!! If Entergy made more effort in powering homes we wouldn't NEED a restaurant for food. We could easily cook and eat at home. And did I really care if Bowie's had power?!? NO!

I can understand businesses needing their power too. But why not make it a requirement of businesses to have their own back up power? From listening to the radio no gas station in Natchez has a generator..... Real smart! With the mentality of "businesses first" Entergy destroys any of their credibility with me.

We're going to be looking into getting a natural gas generator....
