I have been in nursing since 1983 and there have been a lot of changes. Most of which have been for cost effectiveness. Back then we had less paper work, nurses aides and patient acuity wasn't as high. I started my nursing at Jeff Davis. It was a well run facility then. The CEO and the Director of Nursing made rounds several times a day and knew what was going on. Since I have been back at NRMC for the last 4 years I did not know who the CEO and the Director of Nursing was. Maybe that is part of the problem. Throughout this whole financial crisis there has been little if no communication with the employees. I hope for everyone's sake that this restructuring will save NRMC. I hope that the new management whoever it is will use good communication skills along with good financial skills. For everyone that was laid off and for everyone left my prayers and best wishes go out to you.

Fire thank you for caring about the staff at NRMC. No one there seems to care. Last week was National Nurses week and was not even given a thank you for giving the best care possible even in these tryng times. I'm sure the Democrat will know all about the lay offs before the staff does.

Mr Cooper I hope that you or one of your loved ones don't have to be hopitalized soon. If so I am sure you will realize very quickly just how overstaffed it was at NRMC. While I am sure the staff that's left will do their best Ican't imagine how that place will continue to function. Some of the critical care areas such as ICU, Telemetry and ER were already understaffed. Maybe in some of the office areas there was overstaffing but nursing has not been. Lately there have been times of being called off due to low census. Low census may be due to people choosing not to come to NRMC and to go elsewhere after news of finacial instablility surfaced. I do hope that NRMC can survive and wish remaining staff good luck.
