I think we all need to take the time and watch this clip from Oprah Winfrey's television show on yesterday! You can find it at this site http://www.oprah.com/media/20081105_tows... We all have many opinions about this election, but when it comes down to it, we will all need each other before its over! Have a blessed day!

On Residents take Obama election to heart

Good morning Ozzette. Seems like you needed to vent this morning. Glad you were able to get this off of your chest. You seem very disgruntled that the african americans exercised their "right" to vote. You voiced that 'you are sick of hearing about his heritage?' You haven't heard enough about it! I don't think you are not happy that he won, I actually think that you are afraid that a well-educated, well-qualified African American president, will lead this state out of the econominc tragedy that it was lead into, after an 8 year reign by President Bush. Obama is not the first Afican American to run for president, i.e. In 2004, Al Sharpton was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. presidential election, Jesse Jackson was a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988 and served as "shadow senator" for the District of Columbia from 1991 to 1997. Yes, November 04, 2008 was a great day in African American and American history, "BARACK OBAMA, ACCOMPLISHED THE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE!" Have a good one ozzette, too bad you can't do anything about you being upset about our new president. May I suggest sewing, or knitting as a pass time to help relieve your dissatisfaction?

I was very reluctant before I responded to this "homemade" political forum! I can not believe that people are still so shallow! By reading these comments I would think that we are still living in the times of "slavery"! The comments that were being made had absolutely nothing to do with the article. Responding to the comment that was made about the intelligent Blacks voting for McCain, in so many words your comment is referring to the Blacks that are not voting for McCain are not intelligent. Someone was even so shallow as to bring up Martin Luther King. Martin Luther King God Bless his soul and his family, but he was for peace and civil rights, something some of you know nothing about judging by the comments that you all have made. I thank God every day that we no longer live in the 60's. Furthermore, I am a highly intelligent and well educated African American female, I don't refer to myself as "Blacks", and I think turning a newspaper article into a political forum is something that the not so intelligent "Whites" would use as a form of racism to degrade our democratic candidate for president. In closing the natchez democrat should monitor this site more closely before we are back on our way to another Civil Rights War.
