Mr. Henderson was a good man. He didn't bother anyone. He just went about his business. He has family and love ones who will miss him dearly. I miss him already. I'm glad my dad is not alive to see how his friend left this world. It would hurt him dearly. I'm sorry for the idle minds of this world with nothing to do but harass older people for nothing. Mr. Henderson is gone. I will miss seeing him. My condolences are with the family as they try to understand this senseless encounter. Only God knows and I hope God is the one who will help you sustain during this troubling time.

Filthy. That shower is filthy and so is the rest of the place. I haven't seen dog kennels that filthy. How can a system (employees) be so heartless? How can the system go in and out of those cells and see such filthiness and wait until now (grant monies) to do something about it. How can a system go in and out of those cells (quarters) and see such filthiness and go home to their clean homes and churches and let the prison deteriorate, just because? Even a dog deserves a nice place to stay. God Bless.

I think it's deplorable. Thanks OldGrandDad for the website concerning the poll question. After reading the article, I understand Brazen's philosophy and reasoning. The article also said he grew up in the same neighbor (hood) as David Duke. You do the math.

What has always made me uncomfortable is a draft being called. One thing for sure, servicemen/women today are going into the army of their own free will. They are using the army as a profession. Their jobs may be in the line of fire or may just not be. Today, it's dangerous even if you are not in the arm forces. Your life is always in the line of fire, whether you are out in the water drilling for oil offshore or flying an airplane not knowing where trouble is lurking. There is no President, McCain or Obama, that can stop the war. The United States may pull out, but war will be always be going on. It has been prophesized.

notfromnatchez, he's not there (gay or straight) because if he was, then there would not be the abuse. Think about it. Know where he is? He's knocking at the door saying can I come in. I can help you with that problem. Knock! knock!

Knowledge is always needed. Abuse is everywhere and does not discriminate. Whether you are homosexual, heterosexual, or bisexual, abuse is common with those who do not have a good understanding of other’s needs and wants, but only of their needs and wants, which make them selfish. That is where the abuse comes in.

The only difference in this article is the fact that the couples are of the same sex. It’s true that the homosexual lifestyle has existed from day one in the Bible. Not only because this is America, people have the choice to be whom they want to be and live the way they want to live. It’s a choice that God gives also. He said let the wheat grow with the tares, he will do the separating in the end for our sins.

There has always been that sense of control of one human over another. When people realize and change their hearts to the fact that they are not to have control over another human being, then abuse will continue to exist in many forms. Control was only given over animal and even they need to be treated fairly because they have blood in their veins too.

There is also an abuse that comes from the prejudices of heterosexual toward homosexual. There is physical abuse as well as mental and verbal abuse. People can’t change the way others live even if they think it is unsatisfactory or unnecessary. That change comes from knowing Jesus Christ.

lisa_smith, you missed Ms. Beverly's point. We all know the statistics and that prison is a form of slavery, but who enslaves them. People enslaves themselves and God knows we all have someone in prison or who may go there; but 98% of everyone who goes there, put themselves there. We must not become bitter because of prisons or the fact that someone we know or love goes there. I believe Ms. Beverly was trying to say that it ached her heart that it was built and that she hope that something good come out of its existence. That is what I read.

Swampmeet, the answer is "NO." It is a small section that is not seen by travelers who come into or go out of Ferriday. It's a part that is only seen by the people of Ferriday mostly. I have driven through Ferriday and have seen their main highway and it looks horrible. That is a bad first impression of a town and who would want to live there. The cleanup or revitalization crew does not have their priorities in order. The main street is the one that people see as they come in and go out of Ferriday. A lot of work is needed there. Maybe they or the town will consider cleaning up that part of Ferriday. Also, I noticed that they have rebuilt the Arcade as it was 40 years ago. Are they trying to stay in the past or what? Even when we went to the movies then, it was not big at all. It was sufficient 40 years ago, but what magnitude of entertainment would they be holding except to have people standing outside. Ferriday need to get with the time. It's 2008, not 1968. The cotton is still grown there, but even now 40 years later, they use cotton picking machines.
