You are right, I don't know the history. I just wish people could voice their opinions without putting one another down. I have very strong opinions on most matters (some I share, some I don't). However, I do know that not everyone will agree with me and that's ok. I'm sure I step on some toes along the way, but it is never my intention.

Interesting, radio. I never thought of it that way. However, wasn't his mother born in the US? If that's the case, wouldn't he be eligible?

I think it is not necessary to bad mouth anyone for their opinion OR their career choice. We should NEVER tell someone they are beneath us. Kharma has a way of biting us in the butt for such things!

Fair enough. Good luck. I'm hoping it fizzles out once it gets in open water (like that's going to happen). One can wish, though.

It's an election year. Unfortunately, politics is the main topic for discussion these days. May as well get used to it, it's going to get more coverage as the year moves on.

The AP seems to cover things quite well (I thought). I think that most people don't bother to read that, though. Why spend the time and money to rewrite the exact same story that AP has already written? It makes perfect sense to me to use that resource. As far as Obama goes, I don't think of him as "black" at all. Please don't slam me for this, people, but I am much more concerned about his muslim background than the color of his skin. I don't think the people of The Middle East would dare to ever appoint or elect and American or white person to run their country (especially since we are at war with them). Just seems wrong somehow. Again, only my opinion.

As far as the hurricane goes, I hope people learned from Katrina and I hope there is no loss of life with this one. I think most are much more prepared this go 'round.

It's simple - just say "Teen allegedly killed step-grandfather after arguing". Or better yet (since he did kill him - not "allegedly"), let it read "Teen killed step-grandfather after allegedly arguing".

There are nice, upstanding citizens in every neighborhood. There is also trash in every neighborhood. We can't assume anything based on the vague story and lack of details here. And we sure shouldn't base an opinion on the kind of car he was driving. How do we know he wasn't just driving through the neighborhhod (innocently) when this happened to him? We all have opinions, but I'm not sharing mine yet - or basing it on the few facts released at this time. I don't know this man, don't know the neighborhood well and don't have a clue about any details, but we shouldn't assume anything at this point. When someone dies, try to remember that they were someone's son, brother, grandson, friend, etc. May God bless his family.
