Skippy, the best and brightest leave this place because some people in the city feel threatened by "the best and the brightest." It's not just in city government here. I left three months ago. I have an MBA, a BSN, a certification in a nursing specialty, and 17 years of nursing experience. My experience has been one of "overqualification." The people that supervise you may not have the credentials that you have. THEY ARE AFRAID THAT YOU MIGHT WANT THEIR JOBS!

I don't agree with events being voted on. What's wrong with a calendar of events? Most events are known in advance. A calendar would let everyone know what is available and when. It would also prevent conflict if everyone also knows who is going where and when. If there is some unexpected event, then that should be voted on. Most businesses try to plan things in advance for budget and personnel purposes.

We should not keep complaining about things and being pessimistic. Natchez is a great town. I think that we should look at cities with similar size to see how they handle different things. Don't put your city down. It's just like a job, if you are so unhappy, then why don't you leave. There are good things about Natchez. We just need to work to make sure that there are more good things than bad and most of all work together to solve problems.

How sweet. My children have a new little cousin. It's a small world. Ted is my children's uncle and I met Georgenia while performing in a play written by her brother. The first baby of the new year--just wonderful.

All I can say is that I love Natchez. My hometown is Gulfport,Ms, but I have lived in Natchez for a long time. I think that it is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Just as I said before, we all need to work together to create an even better place to live.

I recently visited a medium sized town in Missouri. They have placed an emphasis on the downtown area and have made it possible for buildings to be renovated as lofts, restaurants, etc. Some of the community is fuming because downtown is seen as the "uppity" area. I think that downtown is important to any city, but so are good schools, quality healthcare, and a thriving economy. I am willing to do my part to make Natchez the best place to live. I think that everyone can play a small part. Just let me know what I can do to help. We can do this together. Natchez, just like the rest of America, we need change, too!

I have performed as mrs. cratchit and a ghost in this production and I can say that our natchez little theatre has some talented actors/actresses. remember that these are all volunteers and there is a lot of work that goes on "behind the scenes." Way to go, Landon.

In Joplin, Mo now and the Joplin Globe has had to layoff workers and then they raised the single issue price for the newspaper by 25 cents an issue. It is important to at least try other avenues before raising the price. However, it may be likely that the price will have to go up (along with everything else). Way to go, Natchez.
