How much is it to enter into the balloon fest for both children and adults?

proudmomof2 - I agree with everything that you have said. I too think that school buses should be required to have seat belts on them. It is required by law but if the law is going to require us as parents to make sure that our personal vehicles have operating seatbelts and that our kids are restrained at all time while the vehicle is moving, then they should make this same requirement for school buses. This should be a prime example why this should be put into law. Kids can substain the same injuries on a bus that they can in a car, if not worse.

whatever - Don't go there about her not knowing what was going on in Vidalia schools. I guess you're going to say she focuses her attention on the Ferriday schools. Well that's not true. I don't care who gets a job where it's people like you that always seem to find fault in the job that a person does. It's not her fault that this accident happened so why should you all come here and try to talk down on her. I don't think she's doing any worse for the parish than any of the other superintendents that have been placed her. She is doing as much as she can. I don't know what problem you have with her, it's obvious that you do have one, but now is not the time or place to vent about it. Get a life!!

sayitloud - They need to hear everything that happened! That's what they need to hear. This child was his grandchild so of course he's going to say that the other driver was at fault and how many kids sit on the bus and pay attention to everything that's going on with traffic. I'm not saying that the kid is lying or anything because this could possibly be what he saw or thought he saw. I personally don't know what happened because I wasn't there but don't even start trying to put blame on the other person. An accident is an accident and we don't know all of the details as to what happened or why it happened. I'm sure the driver of the truck is not at all happy with what has happened just as none of us here are. I'm sure it won't be long before the investigation is complete and they will make it public as to what really happened and after speaking with both drivers about the incident. I pray for all of those involved and especially for Mr. Cockerham who has gotten the worse end of it all himself. But I do thank God that there were no fatalities here especially among the children.

callinitlikeitis thanks for the detailed update. my prayers are with you and the cockerham family at this time. i know both sue and james and they are nice people and i pray that she won't have to see an accident take her husband like it has her child. i hope that the family does stick close by her side as i know this has to be a very trying time for the entire family. if needed, i hope the family will open an account at one of the banks to help offset the expenses the family will have with all of the traveling and all that they'll have to do in the near future and not mentioning the time off from work they will have to have just to be there for him and for sue. good luck and keep us posted here if anything changes. i'm sure a lot of us will be checking the comments periodically to see what's new.

First of all, to lroberts, no the driver of the trash truck did not stop in front of the school bus. They were hit from behind and he is not being faulted for this accident. Let's just wait and really find out what really happened before we start jumping to conclusions on who could have possibly been in the wrong. I personally knew both drivers. As a matter of fact, i'm related to the driver of the trash truck. And thanks eagles for your concern and he is okay. He was released from the hospital and only suffered from minor injuries. Other than that he was unconscious for a little while. My heart also goes to the Cockerham family. I hope and pray that Mr. Cockerham's surgeries go well and that he can start his recovery process really soon. And lastly, as for the picture, I do hope that they have a different picture on the front page tomorrow because we really can't tell if that's blood or fluid from the bus.

Ferriday has won and lost many games and has never had a problem like this before so I think if they did do something it was because they were provoked. I knew when they came over there that this was probably a bad idea. So don't try to put down Ferriday team players or the band because the band and the fans had nothing to do with what happened on the field. Those Natchez players were playing unfair to begin with and I think the game was set up so that Ferriday would lose or at least to make it harder for them to win. So for all of you small minded people that want to post comments about Ferriday's team and who was at fault, you need to get a life!! I am a band parent and our band has some really good kids in it and the football team also has some really good kids on it. It's sad that some of you people have to come here and try your hardest to put a town down that you don't live in and don't have to come to at all. As I said before you all need prayers and need to get a LIFE!!! Don't try to act like our team players are gangsters or anything of that nature because whatever you find on our team i'm sure you'll find the same if not worse on the Natchez team!!!

I knew this man because I lived not far from him and he seemed to be a quiet and nice person to me. One thing that I will always remember is him telling me one day to stop frowning so much and to keep a smile on my face. I never realized that it looked like I was frowning until he said something. He said that it's much easier to smile than it is to frown and I shouldn't have nothing to be sad or mad about. This man only knew me from passing by him on the road all the time and that's it but found the time to offer me that thought or suggestion. I would think often about what he said and now I smile a whole lot more than I used to. I can't say what went on in their house or what happened that day but what I can say is that two young lives have been lost tragically. In that neighborhood there is a lot of confusion that takes place between the children and it can get out of hands with the kids cursing and calling each other names. I believe that he was trying to discipline the child by making him come into the house and one thing led to another because the child was mad and if he told him this while he was arguing with someone else then don't you think that he felt that his step granddad made him look stupid or something and that's why he carried out so bad. He probably didn't intend on killing him but he did intend to severly harm him. Who knows? Maybe he'll have the opportunity to speak with someone that'll be able to help him talk through this and find out what really made him do what he did.

so there are witnesses to what actually took place at that time? the paper didn't state that. there are so many conflicting stories about what happened. now it's being said that he tried to get away from her. that changes the entire self-defense plea if that's the case.

I think all of you should just vote for who you want. I'm an Obama supporter and I think that is the best person for office. Some of you are so sad. Barack will win on tomorrow regardless of what you all say or feel. Get over it!!! It's time for a change. No matter who wins there's always going to be fault found in whatever they do. There are things that both candidates have planned that I don't agree with but i'm going with the person I think will best serve this country. I guess you think it's okay to put someone such as Palin in office that doesn't have any experience or even a hint of knowledge of what's really going on. I don't care who you vote for but I sure hope that everyone gets out and vote.
On Are you glad the presidential election is tomorrow?
