Is NRMC trying to get rid of the beds they bought for supposed LTAC? (Remember they bought $400 K worth of beds for LTAC 2 years ago without a Certificate of need)

Scott Phillips is a class act. Medicaid (which is broke and can’t fund its own annual budget) will fund a research project to bring doctors to Natchez. Must be nice to live in the Philadelphia and still be in Natchez Democrat every week concocting a new story with a fat check of $120 K a month.

Veryniceperson, your point is well taken. But, If Ken Stubbs really thinks that NRMC has substandard radiology coverage, why is he partnering with a private practice radiology group in Hattiesburg? He should partner with UMC, Jackson, so that, atleast they make some money of the reads for all the indigent care they provide. It is obvious that Stubbs does not know that it is going to cost a lot of money to setup lines and systems to have the images go through to Hattiesburg. What if the Hattiesburg radiology group does not deliver what it promised? We would have already lost the radiologist in town. Ken Stubbs only cares about stirring up the pot and not about healthcare in Natchez. If he cared so much about NRMC, he would not be drawing $12500 a month paycheck from NRMC, which is in such dire financial situation.

“Doctors who think this will hurt the hospital just don’t understand,” Stubbs said,
Looks like the only person who understands in Natchez is Ken Stubbs. He understood that we had bidders lined up to buy NRMC. He understood that he needs to close Premier Imaging and quietly move the equipment to NRMC. He understood that he needs to award himself the contract to read EKG's at NRMC, when we have a Board certified Cardiologist on staff at NRMC. Now, he understands that the radiology group in Hattiesburg is going to provide excellent coverage for Natchez.
Surely, he understands NRMC more than any one in Natchez.

There are so many inconsistencies in what the board of trustees present. Just a few days ago the board members said and was reported in ND that the $100000 was being paid for upto 5 other employees. Today the Board Chairman says, “fee is for a company, and that includes the payment of about seven employees”. Who are these employees and where are these employees? If there are truly 7 guys working in NRMC for health management partners and have produced this kind of results, ALL THE 7 EMPLOYEES MUST BE FIRED. It’s a shame that they are still discussing and prolonging this issue with inaction.
Potential buyer backs out of deal to buy hospital

Without a buyer, the hospital will continue to operate under the leadership of Phillips and his company, Healthcare Management Partners.
His company is paid $100,000 monthly for Phillips’ time and the time of up to five other employees.
Hospital board members said the company’s fee was middle-of-the-road for the services offered when Phillips’ firm was selected to lead the restructuring in April 2008 as the hospital faced financial problems.

Dear Kevin, You write “ In the last year, it seems, a fundamental change has occurred at Regional. It’s gone from a place where the status quo was considered OK, even if that meant losing money, to a place where things have been pared back to operate as a more successful business”.
I hope you have some real information about the financial situation of NRMC or are you going by what Scott Philips has shared with us. I hope it is not running of the $3 million borrowed from UMB a few months ago. A week ago, the CEO of NRMC met with the nurses and said that admissions were down and hospital as to cut few $100 k as expenses and tried to cut nurses pay and shift differential and backed of when nurses threatened to quit.
I am sorry that your articles did not seem to reflect factual evidence in the past.
Hospital deal may be cure for what ails us
By Kevin Cooper (Contact) | The Natchez Democrat

Here’s how the deal is expected to work:
A for-profit company that owns multiple hospitals will purchase the hospital. The new buyers will enter into an operating agreement with what is arguably the best hospital brand in the region.
That brand has the resources to take the quality of healthcare in the region to an entirely new level.
Consider it like this.
Imagine if Harvard came in and said, “We’re going to run the Natchez-Adams Schools.”
Or perhaps Olympic swimming great Michael Phelps moved to Natchez to run the Natchez swim team.
Or maybe Warren Buffett begun offering free investment advice at United Mississippi Bank.
You get the idea.
That’s the kind of fundamental change that appears to be in the works.
