Is being a county resident the only requirement for this program? Wish there was more information in this article. The price of perscriptions for any heart problems is crazy, we could use all the help we could get.

Bravo Omega, good to see someone is doing their homework. Reading the posts reminded me, never argue with an idiot, the spectators can't tell the difference.

Alochol and drugs only lead 3 places, jails, institution, and death. If the money is better selling drugs then the families of the pushers are benefitting, why should they do anything to stop it. Most people in those situations don't know it only takes two familiy members to sign papers at the judges office for their family members to be placed somewhere they can get help. There is a woman that writes articles in the ND all the time, Carolene Britt, that works at MS Mental Health that can give families help for dealing with addicts/alcoholics. There are AA meetings, NA meetings, Drug Court sends them in all the time. There is help out there but the abuser has to want to get the help and if he/she isn't successful the first time, they at least know where to go get the help when they are sick and tired of living that kind of lifestyle. As for the pushers, they are a time a dozen, lock one up another is there to take his place. You can get the recipe to meth and crack on the internet, it's easy money for people without the skills to get decent paying jobs. Sounds to me like it needs to start in the school systems....which has also been a hot topic lately.

This cell phone thing makes me furious! The woman at the gas station at WalMart is constantly on her phone, I never know if she's even speaking to me. My last visit I had to wait so she could get off the phone and plug it up because it was about to go dead. This while wondering when her boobs were going to fall out of her shirt...I could go forever and not see that! They have a class at Co-Lin Vo-Tech called Professional Development, I think it should be required before you become employable! Funny thing is they teach you what your parents should have, Work Ethics!

Ntz Mom, I'm available p/t, e-mail me if you get in a bind. I don't even know who you are or what kind of business you have but I do enjoy talking to people.

Everything from gas to rent to groceries has gone up, but the pay hasn't. I feel sorry for the elderly also and single mothers who are working minimum wage trying their best to make it. I think they want these people on government assistance. When I moved here you could get a decent house for about 2-250 a month, a really nice house for about 3-350....these prices have doubled and sometimes tripled. Add to that the other outrageous price hikes in commodities and compare that to what the minimum wage is even at it's highest and it's not enough to live on. Not everyone is benefitting from the "oil boom" most are suffering. While it is true that the government didn't give a hoot about the 50,000+ people that lost their jobs when the bottom fell out in the oil business back in the 80's so now the oil people are having their comeuppance. Is this really deserving of hurting the general population with their pettyness?

A friend that was on the scene at this one said his lights weren't even on. I have seen this many times myself, city and county cars hurrying to get somewhere and no sirens, no lights, nothing. Guess they figure why turn them on, it doesn't do any good, people don't get out of the way anyhow. The cop did run the light, if they are going to completely go against traffic laws they need to have lights and sirens going so the general public, who is paying attention, can take the necessary steps to protect their safety. To Protect and Serve seems a little over the top in cases like this.

There has been racing since I moved here 18 years ago, it just used to be kept in the county, Pine Ridge Rd to be exact. They lined up, placed their bets, and the race was on. If you were from out that way you knew it was happening and to stay out of the way. Maybe instead of cameras we need to fund some kind of quarter mile racing strip so innocent people don't get hurt when these kids want to race. I was recently on the bridge coming from Vidalia and several motorcycles passed me doing at least 80, popping wheelies. It startled me because they seem to come from nowhere. We have lots of elderly drivers and had it been one of them it may have startled them so that they may have wrecked. Also, that bridge is like passing in a curve, because of the hill you can't see what's coming, like a wreck ahead of you. Sounds like a good case of ego v/s intellect to me.

Yes it says no bond now but the law requires each person to be given a bond I think it's withing 48 hours. I believe the officer was speaking out of turn about the bond in the article but he had to have already talked to the judge to get the search warrant and it was probably mentioned then.
The drugs in that neighborhood are rampant and I am glad these men were busted. What puzzles me is everyone knows about the drug problem there and this just happened to be a routine traffic stop that turned into a bust. Sounds like Metro Narc got lucky, not that they did anything about it.
