oh another thing,,the city wants to improve the image ,,ok lets start with the old sears building in trace town,,or the old walmart building, or what about the boarded up houses on canal past the post office,,they have been boarded up for years,,or the old house on homochitto were the old pic n pac was,,yes someone still lives there,,but the building underneath is a hazard on so many levels,,the city/county could help in securing that so no one is tempted to enter and get hurt or killed,,
the powers that be need to stop picking on the little folks who are trying to live here and help them, and start cleaning up the obvious eye sores around town, and quit fixing things that work and focus on those that don't
the area needs jobs,,jobs need educated people, educated people need houses,,and schools, and entertainment for their families,
i wonder when the "new cca prison" will start hiring local people? oh have they gotten the federal contracts straightend out? now there is a topic for the nd

part two.....
yes there is racism in natchez,,there always has been and until we teach our children different there will be the catch 22. children live what they learn.
the nd from what i was taught a newpaper is to be a non biased fact reporting item, and the picking and chosing of the nd and the way things are reported are not equal to all just look at the for the record listings
yes natchez is a pretty community,,pretty closed,,if you do not have deep roots here or do not follow the set "rules"(that change depending on who is under the gun) you will have a pretty hard time adapting.
i grew up in natchez, my family is still there, i was raised with some pretty screwed up views being forced down my throat, but with the brain god gave me i chose a different way of thinking.
those who think natchez is such a great place to live, i am glad for you,,but those of us who have lived in the areas over 30 years can remember the old bumper stickers,,the last one to leave,,please turn off the lights,,,

there are many points i agree with and many i do not, i guess this makes me a person with a brain and i use it to think with,,and i realize that i will have diction and spelling errors in this, but those who will point them out, i know atleast they can read.
yes there are a few limited things that "families" can do together"
yes the historical value of the history needs to be told but both sides of it, not just one,
i grew up in natchez and still live in the deep old south of woodville, i grew up under the shadow of the garden clubs and i think it is great that now there have been recent additions to the pagent that is put on by a selected few youth in the area.
natchez like other towns is facing economic hard times and the resrictions that have been in place for years only make it harder for new business to want to locate in the area,
the area needs more businesses, which requires educated workers, who need outlets for thier families, who need houses, and schools where their children will be educated properly.
i have been told over the years "if people in natchez want to work, there are jobs out there they have to go find them"
this is true but it is sad when a person with an enginering degree is working at an autoparts store, or when a business will not work with someone schedual so they can further their education so that person is forced to take a job at a fast food place so they can still provide for thier family while they complete their degree..
i moved back several years ago thinking maybe things have changed, i was wrong, i suffered culture shock, no family entertainment other than the occassional "fests". the payscale is below the regional standard (i lost 5 dollars and hour coming "home".
the children in this area need an overall values overhall, family should be the most important, i have been in the mall recently only to see teenagers walking around with brass knuckles on or harrassing customers with red lazer lights,

the reason all students take history in school is to learn about the past, the good, the bad and the ugly,, in the hopes that we can prevent the past from repeating itself, however there are those who want to focus on the version they want to and down play the rest,,and have the double standards for the citizens to follow but for both sides this is oh so true,,,
i am glad to see change in the world of politics,,god knows that change was needed,,however,,,i grew up with the old south mentalilty all around me,, and I chose different than what i had preached to me every day, i beleive that if you are willing to work hard (either at a job or school) you will get what you deserve, but here in natchez, the way i have seen jobs being filled is by who they know and not what the person knows,,,,any way i got off the subject,,for that i apologize,,,,black white purple or blue this is america and those who reside withing the boundries of this said nation are americans,,,there is no division of such,,you are either an american or your not,,,my hats off to ms irving, i only hope i can make it to 102,,,,

ok mike i feel you,,but legal gun ownership requires some inkling of mental ability to function as part of the human race. i wonder if the gun this kid used was registered to him or someone else???
i vote for public execution if his is found guilty of murder, if he is found guilty of a lesser charge, let the family of the victim decide what his fate should be,,,,the old eye for and eye laws would come in to play here.
another factor to help these young kids, punks, and thug/gangsta wanna be's would have them roate through an active mourge and make them watch an actual autopsy..
the smell of dead human flesh and blood has an odor of its own,,
i may be considered a sick and twisted individual for my views and ideas on how to stop this stupidity,,but i can clearly remember the photos of a friend of mine who shot her self in highschool, and i thoughs on the autopsy i viewed in the past very educational

got dish,,,,,really sounds like another cable hike is fixing to hit the area,,,

ok if found guilty i say public execution by hanging, manditory for all natchez residents to see,,then these young thugs and punks will think twice before poppin a cap in someone else
there is a gallows already to go in the supervisors building, so give her a try

natchez1, signs would need special approval,,,lol,,to see if they will meet the city's restrictions,,i mean regulations,,,(size, color, shape, and don't forget hight of the sign) as far as elections go,,find the ones who voted this bunch in and ask them about the situtation,,i guess this is all part of the change natchez needed,,,,NOT
oh before anyone gets onto me about my typing/spelling/grammar, you still read my comment
