Duncan Park can not meet all the recreation needs, fixed up or not. Tennis, yes; golf, yes; 2 ball fields? no they work for 2 age groups, what about the rest of the kids?
Duncan Park does not meet the needs of softball or soccer at all. How much does the city and county spend on these activities now?
However, if our supervisors and aldermen are not honest with us, we have no idea what it cost and how it will be funded, do we?

There was an asbestos issue with the bulding. Are any of the local companies capable (licensed, trained, whatever is required) of dealing with asbestos? I am not trying to start something, I really do not know the answer to this.

Dream Homes did not take the windows to preserve them, they took them to sell them off for whatever money she could get. They also ripped the gutters off by tying a rope to a truck and pulling them down. And they cut off the handrails. The manor in which the metals were removed were not done in such a way as to reuse, but simply for metal scrap. They gutted the building for the money they could get out of it. What was left was falling in on itself and extremely dangerous.
If you must blame someone, blame Dream Homes for putting the eventual destruction in motion. I believe that an article in this very paper mentioned that Dream Homes has done this to other buildings in New Orleans. Unfortunately the company name appears to be misleading, by design?

A recreation center would also give everyone access and parents could keep an eye on their children rather than running from one park to the next and missing the events for both kids.
Final plan needs to be revised to include soccer fields for all ages and size adaptable. Go to Morgantown on a Sunday afternoon to see a lot of kids and parents having a very good time.
Good article Tate!
Niderbip "Don't you wish the banks had said "no" instead of loaning money to people who couldn't pay it back?" And what banks around here would that be? I don't think any of our banks took the tarp funds and don't see any of our community banks around here in trouble.

Dianne -- so deserved, she has always been so generous with the community, expecially things involving kids. She has a very kind heart. Thank you Dianne for all you do.

Great editorial - fabulous Mr. Cooper. Keep up the good work and hold our city and county accountable.
There was a great line in a movie that I think applies to our city and county boards, "I was so busy worrying about keeping my job that I failed to do my job."

Duncan Park and Liberty Park work for baseball and softball, what about soccer? How many of you have been to a soccer game? The games are held at Morgantown school mainly on Sunday afternoons. Thanks to the school system for allowing NYSO to use the facilities -- would be perfect if there were bathrooms and lights. Absolutely can not hold any tournaments when people have to drive into town to go to the bathroom. NYSO is paying for mowing the grass, all the equipment and maintaining the fields.
Even if NYSO wanted to install bathrooms and lights, they could not do it on school property. This is why the City of Natchez and Adams County need to get involved -- help us get a site where we can make things happen. Vidalia is going to have a complex up and running and the city and county are still going to be bickering over racial issues and turf wars. Nothing really good is going to happen until our elected officials quit playing the race card and start working for the good of the city and the county.
I wonder how long all these new hotels will be able to keep their doors open if we do not do things to encourage more people to come to Natchez. We do not need more empty buildings.

EnKiKur, newsflash! If you say something in front of a reporter, there is always the possibility that it will be reported unless you can convince them that it is off the record. I don't think Pollard is stupid, he had to know that it might end up in the paper.
C'mon, you know that, I don't think you are stupid either. I may not agree with much of what you say, but I respect your right to say it. Or, are you just trying to get off topic again.
