I agree destiny. With neighborhood schools the teachers and principals knew all the kids. Surely this helped with discipline. Now with such big schools there is no way they can know everyone, maybe that's why they need cameras.? I think it makes a big difference to a kid when they are acknowledged by name. Also most of our neighborhoods seem to be integrated now, so the neighborhood schools would be too. Ok, I know all of them are not.

thanks gator and triscuit for sticking up for the good kids. No one should say how horrible the school district is until they have set foot in those schools. there are lots of good things going on there. It's just that you mostly only hear about the bad stuff, I guess it is more news worthy. Sure things need to be corrected, and maybe this is one step to make sure that happens. Hey, maybe they will monitor teacher, administrator and security guard behavior as well.

I agree with you southernbelle. There's plenty to do. Don't expect the community to keep everyone entertained. Walk your dog, spend the day with your family, have a picnic, work in your yard, explore the Trace, go visit the Welcome Center, go to a movie, go to a play, go to church or activities of one, go visit one of those old homes you may never have been in, visit family and friends, have a cook out, go fishing, go to one of the many festivals we have here, take a downtown walking tour, go out of town, etc.

Ok, the kids were being stupid. Maybe this will serve as a reminder to parents to tell their kids about the danger of the river currents.

"Human nature is to remember the negative and forget the positive. So news about arrests sticks better in the public mind than news about good deeds."
When the good deeds get first page press just as the bad news does, the public may remember it much better.

Individuals have been recycling in this town for over 30 years. Off and on anyone could recycle paper, aluminum, copper and scrap metal as long as there was a place to sell it. What we need now is an organized effort of the entire town, so I hope the supervisors go for it.
