I am not arguing race nor intelligence. I am a highly intelligent and might I add, educated, black woman. It is obvious that a lot of you lack candor or tact for that matter. Aak, as you seem to be an intelligent individual, you should really visit other parts of your state more, especially the more rural parts. I'm sure it would quite enlightening. As for Happybunny, it is obvious that you fall into that same "ignorance" category, that MSviaTN is so quick to place me in. Happy(sad)bunny, allow me to enlighten you. I was raised in Concordia Parish, educated in Ferriday schools and received a degree in biochemistry from LSU, allow me to add, on a full academic scholarship. My family still resides in Concordia Parish and for whatever reason they seem to like it there. I no longer live there, but as a FORMER resident, just as you, I have every right to participate on this blog or any other blog I choose. MSviaTN, your views are YOUR views and it's great that you have a fanclub for "aak". You are entitled. It is just so amazing to me how people are so cruel and yet can talk about wanting God having mercy. WOW! Obama's name is different, but it doesn't make him a terrorist by default. It doesn't make him any less American than you or I. Aak, I don't believe I will be on here on Jan 21, making any admissions, however, we have 4 years to see what this president will do. If he is successful, WONDERFUL, if not, then we will get another opportunity in 2012 to allow our voices to be heard again. Until such time, come up with a strategy and inform your elected officials what they can do to pull us out of the mess we've been in for the past several years. That's not just for MS, that's for EVERY state.

President-elect Obama is NOT Muslim! There will be no Koran on Jan 20th! I am so sick and tired of you pathetic MS, might add LA folks in the mix because they also carried McPrune/Pop-Tart, talking about a man that none of you have probably not taken the time to actually find out anything about and regardless of what half of you say, you ARE a bunch of undercover RACISTS! Obama ran a clean campaign. He never made this a race issue, the American public and the media did. If you know so much about politics, why is MS one of the poorest states in this nation? Why did it take your well-revered Pres. G.W.B. so long to get you assistance after the storms? Why does your state rank the lowest in education (as I can tell by the poor use of grammar on this blog, I can see why) and why have there not been any NEW businesses coming to the Miss-Lou area, oh I forgot, Office Depot? What have you done to bring about improvement in your own communities or your homestate that you love so much? I am so sick of people sitting on their tired soapboxes talking about what's wrong with the world, but doing NOTHING to help fix it. AGAIN, the election is OVER! Let it go! If you don't want to live in a country where Obama is president, pack up your pick-up trucks, your 12-gauges and your coon hunting dogs and lest I forget your CONFEDERATE flags and move somewhere else. This is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, not the UNITED SOUTHERN STATES OF AMERICA!

Correction aak... I didn't call you an idiot, I merely said your ramblings were as such. I am thankful that at this point in my life, I don't require government assistance of any kind. I have been afforded the opportunity to live a life that does not require me to have to wait for the "handout" as you stated. As an insurance agent, you should know that providing such is a SERVICE to the people who need it. Have you ever thought about if there were more companies out there that provided better insurance for their employees, would there really be a need for your services? If there were more jobs, obviously not created by the Bush Administration, would there really be a need for government assistance? Just posing a few questions. I will agree with you that there are a great deal of minorities on assistance, some take advantage, but there are those who don't. Perhaps with the proper structure and the right constraint, the government could assist those who REALLY need it. Maybe it's me being a bit over-zealous, but I believe that it is worth a shot. Again, don't be so quick to throw out an idea before you see if it really does work.

AMEN, "godisfaithful"!!!! Now that IS the bottom line. E34, yankee and aak1972, there are not enough words to describe your idiocracy, but you have your choice of countries should you want to do the rest of us a favor and MOVE!

Don't be so quick to say what will and won't happen in your life. There may be a point and time where you will need that same handout that you snub your noses at! There are so many people out there who do the right thing, that DO work everyday and are barely making it. A lot of them work two jobs, have children and go to school, just to ensure that their children have a better life without being on welfare. Regardless of what you believe, there are people out there who don't want a handout! Unfortunately a lot of companies don't offer proper healthcare insurance or it is so expensive, one can not afford it, so be careful not to judge so quickly. If you were placed in that position, I am sure that you would want someone to help you!

I currently live in AZ, and there are more whites with ACCESS cards than Hispanics and Blacks! For those who don't know what that is...WELFARE/FOOD STAMPS! Oh ohhhhhhhh, you weren't ready for those statistics, were you? I have been behind them in check-out lines where they pull out there food stamp debit cards to pay for their food and then pay for their other items with their platinum bank cards. I'm sorry, but am I the only one seeing there is a problem with that equation?

Natchezlady...beautifully stated! It is apparent that regardless of what has happened here will never be embraced by those who are narrowed-minded and for many bigots in their own right. You have people on here talking about they are now going to start going to church because of the outcome of this election. Speaking as a devout Christian, you really should have been doing that anyway, maybe your outlook on life would be a lot better. Reading God's Word and really understanding what has been written would probably change your skewed ideology about the world.

I am empathetic that a lot of you think that the last 8 years of Bush was what this country needed, when nothing has happened other than the fact that he has led us skipping along, into a recession, while he and Laura will go back to their ranch in Crawford, kicking back, while they watch someone else attempt to clean up the mess he made. It will definitely not be an overnight change, but I believe that as AMERICANS, it is imperative that all of us come to terms with reality and again stop pointing fingers, spreading hatred, because it causes your children to hate and to be racists, simply because someone else doesn't believe in what you/they believe in or that a particular race or social class is inferior to their own. It doesn't make that person wrong, it makes them different. That is what's supposed to be wonderful about this country. We have our choice to live our lives the way we choose, as well as choose what are beliefs are. We need to do what we can in our communities to get the USA back on the right track. Take the blinders off people. Barack Obama was not elected by only one race of people, but by the AMERICAN PEOPLE!

You people sicken me! No wonder people in other states consider people in the South a bunch of backwood hicks! Are you serious, just because John McCain was born in the USA, the son of a married couple, it makes him a true American? So, are you saying those who were born to a single parent, less of an American? No, it doesn't. It makes him just like you and me, A US CITIZEN! He selects a babbling idiot as a running mate and makes the entire GOP the laughing stock of this election.

God help us if McCain wins, because Heaven forbid should something happen to him, we will have a nation of gun-toting, NRA card-carrying, "soccer moms", sounding like Gomer Pyle, looking at Russia from Alaska. Give me a break!

Oh, I've got one for you, maybe we should make "Joe the Unlicensed Plumber", Head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the "First Dude", Press Secretary? That's really rich!

Obamayamama, I have read all of this foolishness you have spouted off throughout this thread! First of all, do you live in Ferriday? Were you raised there? Well, I WAS! If you are so concerned about how people in Ferriday are driving the vehicles they drive and live the way they live, maybe you should take the time out and ask one of them. My family still lives in Ferriday and are hard-working people. NO ONE and I reiterate...NO ONE in my family has ever been on welfare and I am a product of a single parent home. My mother is a college degreed professional, who has worked in this community for as long as I could remember. I also have a college degree from LSU in Biochemistry! I received an academic scholarship because I actually sat down in school and learned a thing or two. How dare you belittle people when you don't have a clue?

Yes, my relatives drive nice vehicles, but believe me, they don't work in Ferriday, Vidalia or Natchez for that matter, because there are no jobs there. They have legal jobs, since you seem to think that all (black) people are drug dealers and uneducated. They are truck drivers, they work on oil rigs, they are business owners. So, before you start spewing out your hatred-filled words and racists statements, get all of the facts! Remember all press is not GOOD press and not everything you read is NOT factual.

You can vote for whomever you wish. Teach and Yeahuhuh, regardless of what other's views are, we WILL vote for the BEST CHOICE!!!! Obama/Biden 2008!!!!

It's amazing how Democrats are so easily attacked, but I do believe it was a Republican president that kicked all of this off 8 years ago and was an integral part of shaping our country into the mess it is in now! Typical "Ole South" mentality and you wonder why MS is in no better shape than it is. Louisiana, included! I was born and raised in Concordia Parish and thank heavens I no longer live there! With the stuff I see on these threads and in the news, it would make me want to run for the hills if I did!

I read the Democrat online because for obvious reasons, it is a far better read than the Sentinel. Nov. 4 is when everyone will have their say. It's people like you, "Obamayamama" that makes this kind of stuff hilarious! If you're able to make a comment like that to "Yeahuh", then obviously, you're always on this website as well. Interesting!
