For those of you without a disability of mobility get with the program. For each of you, borrow a wheelchair or a pair of crutches, go out and try to find a nearby parking space or get up a high curb -- it is not easy when you are disabled. And, the LAW requires that new projects be handicap accessible. I thought I was aware of the handicap person being able to enter buildings and find a place to park that does not require you to walk a block or more. Just give it a good try with your eyes wide open. Until it happens to you, you never really understand. The late Ken Steiner argued for accessibility but it fell on deaf ears and hearts.

The only negative comment I have in regards to downtown is no parking for the handicapped. They removed the only one there was in front of the old B&K building. I can't walk and there is nothing for us and inconvenient parking means shopping via the internet rather than downtown. I even have trouble getting to the mall unless I have someone with me to push the wheelchair. This is an area that needs to be addressed.

There are many laws on the books that you may disagree with, but when one is there, you should abide by it to the best of your ability. If you really think about it, most of the "good" guys are in the phone book anyway. A law enforcement officer that is good (and there are a few that are not) is going to work with you unless you become belligerent. For an attorney to offer such poor advice, I would worry about having that person as my attorney. Get a grip people, obey the law and you aren't going to be pulled over unless your have an expired tag (which there are a lot of those around) or you are being reckless. Grow up people!

Both of these candidates are good men. Adams County will be proud of either one and everyone should show respect for both. Good luck to both of the men.

started coughing last night - looks like I am trying to come down with something - will stay away from people just in case.
On Will you make a positive difference in your community this weekend?

Krogers - always wanting the other guy to BUY or do. Start a cooperative and see about purchasing it yourself before you tell someone else to do it. Iles has come up with some good suggestions -- and that is what it is -- suggestions. It is not the responsibility of one man or one woman to get all this action started but to be a part of the solution. How many on here, including me, volunteer to help out on anything or even suggest ideas. Sure, some ideas are never going to come to fruition, but at least the juices are flowing. We have new generations and these people can start to change. Let's change the pageant as a 1st step and make it more exciting and current. The pageant couldn't compete with GWTW at anytime but at least make it more entertaining. The Cemetery stories are more interesting that the pageant. Thanks Greg for stepping up and making your ideas public and maybe it will encourage others to step outside the box and get moving.

I think this is a wonderful project but is not for me (anymore). I don't do crowds and, if lucky, will see the balloons in the sky. However, don't get many over the neighborhood as they did in the earlier years. Sunday is for church so don't see them unless they happen to be up and near church location. For those who really get a bang out of the festival - go for it. I just enjoy seeing the balloons up in the sky.

Amen OldGrandDad.
I have not made up my mind entirely for the office Sheriff but am leaning between 3 or 4 candidates who will probably end in a run-off. However, none of the candidates running can change the negative attitudes of some. It is grand that we have several very good candidates running for this position and regardless of who wins, the winner will do his best to improve law enforcement in our county. Law Enforcement -- means enforcing the laws but it is not a preventative for the drug users, the abusers, the antagonists, those who break any and every law. Get wise sobeit, you can add to the positive instead of propagating your negative views. Encourage others to vote for your candidate but don't knock the others. The writer of this column is positive Chuck will be the best, now you can write a column supporting your candidate. So-be-it!!

Unfortunately, all politicians seem to think it is a ME world.
Do for ME first and if there is by chance anything left over then you MAY be considered. This is not a PARTY thought but one for ALL politicians. If anyone gets a raise, it is always the politicians first, and others second and third. Look at congress -- raising their salaries once again when the country and its citizens are hurting. How much of this are we going to stand for? When do we get our hackles up enough to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH? Vote them ALL out as they come up for reelection. If you say "but look what they bring to us", just remember that that "us" is actually paying for it in taxes, increased prices at the grocery store, utilities increasing, cost of everything going up -- and yet THEY always want more from us. How many you make the amount of money each congressman gets? I can guarantee you that my dollars don't even come close.

The house should be saved for its historical value. I know many of you think if the HNPS has their nose in it, they are the guilty party. However, this home was built in an era that we have preserved in this county. Dr. Vaughan's major problem is that he neglected to TRY to do anything. If I let my house go to pot or the grass grow uncontrollably, then the neighbors and the city would have a right to complain and demand action. Action is all that has been needed by the owner --- he has defied the system set to protect all of us. Yes, there are other properties in need of attention and, they may have action pending in the background, I don't know and neither do you. Get a grip people and try being supportive of the community that you hail as home!
