The close family members were probably at the scene and the democrat is reporting the news to inform the community. There could have been some family member that someone neglected to call, and now they are aware of the situation thanks to out wonderfully acurate and up-to-date democrat

Everyone is trying to blame this on everything but the problem. It's not video games, its not the fact that they weren't church oriented (because they were), the kid just did the crime plain and simple. He planned it out with his buddy and did it. I don't care what kind of video games or movies they found at the scene, he did this under his own free will.
After conner recieves his time, they will not keep him at CPC, he will go to Angola and be placed on isolation until he is 18

The_Punisher you are correct second degree murder does carry up to life, and I believe that the only reason they went with the second degree instead of first is because you have to have a every juror's vote. If one juror thinks he is not guilty he would walk free and clear. The only reason to try someone for first degree murder is if you are seeking the death penalty.

Well true enough the inmate screwed up! No one was injured, murdered, or raped. For every one inmate that runs off there are 500 that are doing exactly what they are supposed to do. I think that the inmate that runs off should have severe punishment, but there is no need to punish the other 500 that are honestly "model inmates." Furthermore I don't think that the information about the "Escaped Inmate" would have swayed voters much at all. The inmate was probably not even reported missing until later that evening, because ultimatley the employer is responsible for making sure the inmates are taken from and returned to the facility.

Well all I can say is what's four more years. I think we can give the man four more, an I personally think he has done a good job "himself." Look at the D.A.R.E. Program I know that when I was in school it scared the hell out of me to even be around people with drugs. He has done so much stuff for the area churchs, schools, and kids of the parish. I know that Lipsey would make a good Sheriff, but I think we should give Maxwell four more years to finish some of the things he has started. I know one thing that he definately need to finish is the new training for the correctional officers of the parish. This will be extensive training in all aspects of corrections as well as some law enforcement. This program will really show the supervisors at the prison what they are working with it is not some "bird" course. With this program will also come a wage increase that is State Suplemental not coming out of the parish's pocket. This is something that the parish desparately needs to have better trained officers, and a more secure prison system.

I don't believe that you can create better teachers and you are always going to have messed up administration. The main key to a childs education is parental involvement. I am 26 years old and had very little parental involvement during my stent in school, mostly due to a broken home. But as I have gotten older I have seen first hand why I need to be involved in my childs education. My stepson was in first grade in Vidalia, one of the best schools in the parish, and due to transportation problems he was moved to ferriday lower. I now have more time to sit down in the evening and work with him, and he had better grades now than he ever had.

There are several aspects of the prison system that many people don't understand. For one the work crews around the parish do more than just help the community. Have you ever heard the phrase "idle hands are the devils playground." That is all too true in the prison system where we are under-staffed, under-paid, and mostly under-educated. If the inmates do nothing all day but sit in a cell then they have too long to think about fighting each other, the officers, or attempting escape. If they are kept busy they not only have less time to think about those things, but they also have a reason for good behavior. "Work Release" is an all together separate aspect. I have no idea what goes through those idiots heads the way they screw up, but they have never had problems from the work crew inmates.

well I don't know if he actually killed his parents or not and the only person other than him was killed the same day. that being said I don't believe it is right to charge him as an adult and to throw him into an adult prison system. I have worked in the system long enough to know that if he is convicted he will undergo unspeakable molestation and beating on a daily basis. that is not something i would wish on the most evil person in the world. yes he should pay for the crime if he commited it, but his time should be served in a juvenile facility or a mental institution where he can be segregated.

RIP I have to tell you just like everyone else here has at least once in this post. IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT WE SAY DON'T READ IT. I know the situation with BJ I used to live next door to him in Clayton. He was a victim of negligence on the officer's behalf. The officer should have taken his belt from him, but he made his own decision to hang himself. As far as the three resting in peace I hope to God that they are, because I know Nick, Justin, and Cody, I used to pick them up and take them home from cornerstone. They had a chance to change their lives and a church family that would have been there for them through thick and thin, but they just wouldn't do it. As for me I'm not judging I'm just stating facts and the rest is up to God.

Well he would not have had to steal anything if Obama was president! Obama is going to spread the weath by tax gouging, and we will all benefit from the profits, and the US will be out of debt, and the city streets will be safe because nobody will need money, and stuff like this will never happen again. YYYaaawwnnn....oh im sorry i was dreaming for a minute there. I have lost money, almost half of my retirement in the stock market, but I havent resorted to theft (yet).
