dangyankee Thank you. Everytime I post saying the exact same sentiments as you I get blasted by the "regular" bloggers. Certainly glad to know there's someone out there who sees the dumbing down as the epidemic it is. Too bad there's not a quick shot that can cure the disease.

Those of us who pay our taxes, use no government assistance and actually have health insurance to pay for the health care we receive should not have to continually pick up the slack for those who don't. The hospital is suffering financially because almost half of their care goes uncompensated. 46% of the folks getting treated at NRMC are NOT paying for it and the hospital doesn't get reimbursed for uncompensated care. Why should I have to pay more taxes so these people can continue to get health care?

Thanks Roberth33. I certainly have to pay every time I get medical care.

Oops, not so literate I guess, Let's try that again. What NRMC needs is an increase in paying patients.

What NRMC is an increase in paying patients

I agree whole-heartedly with frogprincenessntz. Even with a great new management system in place NRMC won't make money until there's a change in "uncompensated care"

As I see it, if patients started paying their bills for the health care they received in good faith the hospital would be more than solvent. If you read this article you will see that 46% of billing went unpaid in 2007. These are folks without insurance, those also unable to pay for medical care they have received. This is a county hospital that cannot refuse treatment to anyone but has to "write off" all the uncompensated care (unpaid bills). The hospital does not get reimbursed for most of these "write-offs". Let's do the math, 46% of $113M is almost $52M in uncompensated care and the hospital was in the red by $8M last year... hmmm, looks as if that just might be the problem. I'm not saying that there isn't any blame with management of the hospital but folks need to realize that this hospital is THE hospital that helps ALL citizens, regardless of ability to pay and only gets paid for just over half of what they do. If a retail store only got paid for half of the merchandise that walked out their door, they would also be in the red.

Kpage, being literate has nothing to do with going to college. Using proper grammar has nothing to do with having a college degree and just because I'm articulate doesn't mean I don't work hard by the sweat of my brow. I don't have a college degree and am a contractor. So my place in this world is to work hard, by the sweat of my brow AND work my brain. The two are not mutually exclusive.

I read the posted statements infrequently but it saddens me to see that many of the bloggers seem to spend a lot of time posting statements and should be taking some refresher courses in English, spelling, grammar and more. Consider the sources as you read these comments. Many are inarticulate folks with nothing to do but rant about anything and everything. We should spend more time improving the school systems in our area and working on raising the bar for our residents, and then there'd be a lot less for them to rant about.

Robert, I agree that pottery is a beautiful art form but to say "Anyone can push a brush" is a ridiculous. Painters are artisans in every sense of the word, as are potters.
